[Death Note Spoilers]

Of course I would assume that if you were going with that ending, you show that Light was unredeemable and doing it like L, the protector of justice yada yada, is the correct way.
Well it's not quite that simple because:
While the show does suggest that L and N are actually correct, the methods that they employ are rather questionable at times. Sometimes you got to a dick to save the day and sometimes you have to die. It isn't easy being the good guy
.

I agree that if Death Note did one thing right it was the line between hero and anti-hero and actually showing the anti-hero's POV.
However, ending the series with Near especially since Near was a protege of L just felt like a copout "sorry guys, we had to extend the series and couldn't let L win, so here's a cheap knockoff to placate you".

Ending it like the movie made 100% more sense to me compared to the series since even in the series end, they eventually DID come out and say that Light was fucked up and shouldn't win.

Kaiji 5

Kaiji you smart motherfucker. I didn't even know he had extra scissors and papers. I thought he just went pure rock which made me wonder why he would duel against Kitami. Now let's see where the paper buyout plan will take them

Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals 02: There have been more panty shots in forty minutes of this than in the entire mainline FF. No human being should be tortured like this.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor 12: The change to a spooky episode was weird, but it was pretty great to see Tylor not being a complete lazybum like usual. He didn't do shit, but at least he was put into stress. A true coward.

Tylor's game appears to only work against AI.

In other news, my Utena shirt is here:

It's a bit big (bought L-size). Hopefully it shrinks a little after some washes. It smells a lot like paint, however.

Man, it's only just been announced and I already can't wait to see the sales numbers on that Madoka game.

I wonder what the over/under is now on sales of the upcoming Black Rock Shooter game versus this upcoming Madoka game. I also wonder how the coming PSP -> Vita transition will affect sales of PSP games, since the Vita will be able to play PSP games purchased on PSN.

My problem with DN is basically that.
From the start, the loser and the winner were already decided, and it was based on morality.
Light was "evil", so from the start it was decided he wouldn't have won. But then to have him not win, they went and did it in a shitty way. The author didn't like Light, and didn't think it would set a good example if the bad guy won, so why the hell not have L end it?
Putting in N and shit just to have Light's downfall was pretty bad.

Ohba planned to have Death Note run for exactly 108 chapters, mostly for symbolic reasons (lol).
L's early death
happened because he(?) wrote himself into a corner along the way.

Utena 14-16
Looks like shit is getting real with these Black Rose guys. Errbody is into
incest!
Nanami is
a cow!
I can't say it doesn't suit her.

Is a PS3 still the best choice for a Blu-ray player?

It remains the best value Blu-ray player you can buy, since it also plays games. If you are on GAF, and therefore play games, a PS3 blows any standalone Blu-ray player out of the water.

It has also been the most future-proof Blu-ray player ever made. If you bought a PS3 at launch or anytime during the early days of the format, you would have gotten for free upgrades in software that other people would have had to buy new players for. Every single new thing that has been added to the format since launch has been added to the PS3. Even the limitation of not having HDMI 1.4 has not held the PS3 back from full support for Blu-ray 3D. Now it even has support for lossless audio format DTS-HD Master Audio while playing back in 3D with the just-released firmware 3.70!

Well all right then. Still a shame I didn't pick one up when everyone was doing the $100 gift card deals, but that money is still locked into a specific storefront, and a flat $50 off (assuming that's the Gamescom price drop) isn't too shabby.

Definitely getting a PS3 next paycheck

I have a copy of No More Heroes Heroes Paradise just sitting here...

Not to mention all the Blu Rays! Just a question, US, how can you hook it up to 5.1 without an A/V receiver/$800 home cinema system?

http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=501&name=Home-Theater-in-a-Box

For a smallish to medium room, with the volume not turned up really loud, your average Home-Theater-in-a-Box is a lot better than it used to be. Granted, that's not a ringing endorsement, but in the world of home theater you can spend $100, $1000, or even $10000 just as easily. The curve of audio quality increase is a sharp one early on, if you spend $1000 you'll get way more sound than spending $100 (with the sole exception of Bose, DO NOT BUY Bose), if you spend $10000 you'll get more sound than spending $1000 but the increase in quality is not nearly as steep. If you spend $100,000 on your home theater, I want to be your best buddy forever. :3

edit: Don't get a soundbar. Those things are trash. Get a real discrete 5.1 setup of some sort.

DoReMi Naisho Idoru episode > all of Idolm@ster. That is all.
That same director of that episode will outperform himself when he directs his own IM@S episode!

lol but I'm spending the $400 it would take to get a setup like that on the PS3... :T

next next month maybe, assuming I score some decent freelance work...

If you'll be the sole listener, never underestimate the enjoyment you can get from a good set of headphones. Headphones can be really cheap compared to a bunch of speakers and cheap headphones generally sound better than cheap speakers.

The amount of money I've frittered away on my home theater is not insignificant, but I still plug in my $70 pair of Sony MDR-V6s into my Denon 4310 all the time to listen to music. Chihaya and Mio aren't fooling around when they're listening to their cans, after all.

I mean, to be fair, I don't know anything about home theater systems, but still, how the hell does this work?
My dad has something similar. Its not that bad to hook up as long as you tagged all the connections beforehand. I set it up on my own.

As for Bluray players, I have a relatively new Samsung player and I like it way more than my Ps3 as a BR player so take that as you will.

They should really revive the cooking genre. It's fun to watch all kinds of dishes being cook, shining dishes and exaggerated expressions when eating.

I miss Chuka Ichiban(Cooking Master Boy) especially that ED2 song,Yakitake Japan....not so much and no..Toriko doesn't count. The only cooking left I know is Addicted to curry manga.

All Denon (and other companies') receivers let you rename the inputs. So you plug whatever it is into wherever it goes and then you give the input a name in the menu yourself.

The only connections of any real importance today are the 6 HDMI inputs along the top left. The other inputs are things like component video, S-video, analog multichannel audio, digital optical or coaxial audio, regular analog stereo audio. Unless you've got some really old sources, or a PS2, you will likely be ignoring all that other crap and populating the HDMI inputs only.

The speaker outputs are the red and black binding posts along the bottom, and also a single coaxial line-level output to a powered subwoofer. If you are sporting a full 7.1 setup, you populate all the binding posts, and plug your subwoofer into the sub output. Like most home theater receivers, the Denon 4310 provides line-level out to sub only, you don't attempt to drive hundreds of watts of subwoofer with a receiver.

Setting it up is pretty straightforward, just follow the directions in the manual.

Yeah, I figured this would be the eventual advice someone would give. It does look impressive though.

Which particular model are you talking about? What do you think is better about it?

I'm not sure what you're surprised or confused about. It's not something you have to assemble or anything. It's a receiver. You plug connections into it, and set them as channels to output from the receiver into your TV and speakers. That's about it.

Nah, like I said I figured it's just a matter of reading the manual or whatever, it just looks impressive since I've never seen a consumer product with that many connections. It's not like I'm ever going to be buying it anyway.

Those Sony headphones he mentioned do look pretty good for their price, though.

You don't actually use all the connections you know...

Articalys said:
Of course not (unless you were hooking up twelve DVD players or something), but it still looks damn cool!

You won't really be looking at that after you buy it, since it'll be facing the wall!
