They should really revive the cooking genre. It's fun to watch all kinds of dishes being cook, shining dishes and exaggerated expressions when eating.

I probably fucking missed the boat on this years ago, but Spice and Wolf is really really good! I mean, just in terms of pacing, writing, atmosphere, music... less so with animation, though it's good enough that it doesn't really bother me and it's not as if there are any action sequences (yet) that I care about.

Also cut-throat economics and merchantile-based storylines yesssssss! This is what I live for!

Every now and then you guys genuinely surprise me. I thought nobody watched this show.
I was hyped about it because a lot of the same people worked on Twelve Kingdoms.
I enjoyed the series a lot, well at least to the end of the first season of it, which is where I left off. It is obviously a very shoujo type of show.

Speaking of Spice and Wolf, anyone who bought the Blu-rays may want to consider returning them, or if you haven't bought them yet then... don't. It's an upscale. And the show was done in HD.

The upscale isn't done well either - it's got smearing, edge enhancement, contrast/black level modification (which results in black crush), etc. Basically it's garbage, unfortunately.

And series composition by Reiko Yoshida! Swoon swoon.

.

Not to forget you can learn about cooking and baking from the show, or was I the only one paying attention to the facts?

So, I can't tell through some of the rage in their forum posts: is this just an elitist thing, or does it honestly, truly look god-awful terrible in motion? Should I be scrambling to fill in the return form on the season 1 BD that already came, and pray the same thing didn't happen to season 2?

You can, and that was one of the coolest things about it.
That and all the shounen style bake-offs complete with WAY over the top reactions.
Oh yeah, and

Good thing I passed on it, I guess.

Oh yeah! I should really rewatch it again as it's one of my favourites. However towards the end the reactions got old, and it wasn't as golden as the first 30 episodes. One of my favourite scenes
is when they are in France and visiting those master bakers (with bird masks) whom show their "techniques" by doing some crazy finger movements and the solar sun boy imitates it without a problem
. The series has such great music too!

Yakitake Japan - 04

Did I already mention how shounen-y this series is, now comes with traumatic backstories about eating bread.

And affro's, shounens love their affro's.

This. A thousand times this. ogod dat Tsukino.

Too bad that Yakitate!! Japan goes crazy after some time, though I never did watch the anime to its conclusion so maybe it's a little tamer than the manga.

Moving and being without internet means I have like 20 pages of this topic to go through and two weeks of shows to catch up on ... :| Damn.

read my Code Geass episode impressions.
I'm starting R2 now so it will probably get even better.

Well, I'm gonna go get some lunch at Wingstop and sit down to episode 2 of Code Geass R2.
Sounds like a foolproof plan. what could go wrong?

Heh, I remember Maken-Ki. The manga is fucking terrible. (worse than IS? Probably.)

Also, let's get the hate-train rolling on Senjou no Horizon.

Having not seen IS, how bad is it in comparison to, say, YUMERIA?

No I wont be watching Code Geass in public. I'm not that sociopathic.
My goal is to torture myself, not others.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 - 16

Oh man, oh man this episode makes it hard to pick between Kallen and C.C.

In the red corner you have Kallen
knocking the shit out of Suzaku.

And in the green corner you have C.C
revert back to submissive slave girl, new to world

*Ahem* Ah yes, a summary of this episode...

That's some serious trollface on ... whoever that is in front. That's like two seconds away from violently stabbing someone in the neck gleefully.

As far as IS goes, I'm seriously needing to get around to watching it so those Charlotte videos make any sense to me. Like, there's a lot of infinite repeat of her saying things so I'm kind of confused. No sound at work, though, so maybe it's just the voice that makes the HNNNNGH of it?
I never heard of Yakitate but I can't stop listening to that ending.
I've always liked the openings more than the endings (sans Hummingbird/ED3). Maybe it's just due to a few of the endings just being rather annoying to me, though, since most of them weren't bad.

...I've totally watched shows based off their OP/ED, don't judge me :(

This is how I chose to watch a lot of shows. no shame in it.
That's one of their functions anyway.

Maken-ki is the first "mainstream" work of Takeda Hiromitsu, a porn artist whose entire resume consists of NTR manga in which cute girls are "tricked" by evil cute shotas, rich fat men or ugly otaku into cheating on their lovers.

You know, that's not quite true.

So, Nitroplus is making a PC ADV based on Guilty Crown, with Jin Haganeya handling the scenario. At the same time, he is also joining the anime writing team as a script writer.

Nitroplus + noitaminA = one of the signs of the apocalypse

:(

I know he has done normal porn, but we all known he is best known for his NTR stuff.

Is he? I'm actually not familiar with him doing tons of NTR stuff. Actually, until it was mentioned here, I didn't even know he did NTR stuff.
