Is .Hack Sign good? I watched the first episode and it seemed boring as shit.
As a fan of that studio and Yuki Kajiuras music, No it's not good. It is boring as fuck and doesnt go anywhere for nearly the entire series. Just look for the soundtrack and you've honestly gotten the best part of that series.

The amount of anime this season I'm watching is staggering, but it's become such a routine that I've forgotten about how many shows I'm keeping up with:

Steins;Gate
Hansaku Iroha
Tiger and Bunny
Kaiji Season 2
Nichijou
Natsume Season 3
Idolmaster
Usai Drop
Sacred Seven
Penguin Drum
Blood-C

I swear most of the seasons prior to this year I was watching two, maybe three shows, tops.

Penguin Drum 6

Not sure if I TOTALLY like how Kanba and Shouma seem to have completely separate plotlines at the moment; Shouma's plotline seems to serve to shut up the naysayers who think nothing's happening, though, while Kanba is there so we can spend time with poor, sweet deluded Ringo :( I look forward to the show spending more time on Himari at some point, too.

Brilliant sakuga moments and storyboarding in this episode. Masako is creepy.

Penguin 4!

Usagi Drop
Natsume
Steins;Gate
Nichijou
Kaiji S2
Penguin Drum
Hanasaku Iroha
Kamisama Dolls
Ikoku Meiro
Kamisama Memo
Tiger & Bunny
Ro Kyu Bu
Blade

I hate dropping shows. Only shows I've dropped are Blood-C, Double J (which really isnt even a show) and Sacred Seven. Rest of the stuff I've barely checked out on so far. List in order of what I like most to least. I should probably drop more stuff. Blade is about as awful as I was expecting to be which says a lot.

Bakatest 2 5 - This was a good episode, I'm liking this series more and more as it goes along. The first few episodes of this season were weak, but it's really recovered and is good now. The "mystery" here is fairly obvious -- I mean, it didn't suggest who did it, but it's not hard to guess -- but still, this is funny stuff.

I will say though, yeah, if Akihisa somehow doesn't know that those two girls like him it'd be almost impossible to believe...

Also, that none of the girls know how bad Himeji's cooking is is also impossible to believe. So we're supposed to believe that none of them have ever, even once, tasted any of her food? None? And she's never eaten her own cooking either or something? And when Akihisa passes out and almost dies immediately after trying her food none of the girls think anything of it? Oh come on, you can insult my intelligence some, but that's going way too far... it's at least as bad or maybe even worse than if Akihisa somehow doesn't know that those two girls like him.

I think it's a fantastic series, but it's not an action show. It's a show focused on story. It's about the story and the characters, and it's very much not about fighting. The music is outstanding, really great for an anime soundtrack, and the visuals are pretty good too. I quickly came to like the characters and find the story interesting, and the series really grabbed me beginning to end... I love .hack//Sign the anime, it's my favorite thing in the .hack universe in fact. But if you want lots of action and fighting, no, it's not for you. If you get into the story, though, it's very good.

Oh, is it list time again?

Is it good? I'm not sure. I liked it, but mostly thanks to the ideas behind it and the music, which really sets the mood perfectly.
What you got from the first episode is about the same you'll get from the rest: the show is slow and can feel boring unless something about it catches your interest and makes you want to watch more (for me it was the MMO setting with evolving A.I.).

Man, I miss Newtype. I have dozens of issues and a huge amount of sampler discs.
Good times. I learned about so many series with that magazine and probably if I went through them I would rediscover ones I skipped over or didn't notice.
In part, I miss Newtype magazine (月刊ニュータイプ) because some of the contents it had time ago interested me more, but that is part of a cycle because it usually keeps coming with things I appreciate more (talking of Mr. Nagano, I hope soon we see some more of Gothicmade in it). What I probably miss more is good old format animage magazine (月刊アニメージュ), animage ORIGINAL is a fairly decent compensation though...

Well to be fair firehawk12 spends most of his time not watching classic works, so it was high time for him to hit up that back catalogue. You have to start sometime!
But he doesn't have to watch it all in one week, eh! His brain, with all that Oshii and such inside, is going to melt and then he is not going to remember anything at all!
I know I'm not good at joking in English, sorry guys (I also despise using emoticons)

Honestly, I think .hack//sign is pretty terrible because the story development is ridiculously slow. It is mostly talking heads the entire show and what little story there is doesn't feel very satisfying after all the downtime. The music is great, the character designs are decent and the settings are pretty nice, but overall the show is just kind of empty and soulless. When you get to the end of it, it's like "Thats it? that's all there is?". I was actually angry after putting up with the pacing only to reach that ending.

Other Bee Train shows have progressed faster and had more going on from the beginning, although the studio definitely takes its time telling a story.

I didn't like how they showed in Baka Test
why Yoshii was a Punishment Inspector. I figured it was some special, albeit pretty terrible to have, ability.

Is Baka and Test 2 as fun as the first season? because I'm really enjoying it.

It's rather funny, but it also feels like the show doesn't know what to do with itself by recycling the same jokes over and over again.

Yeah shows like Madoka and Penguin Drum are definitely enhanced by the speculah.
Most shows you can just watch whenever, unless it is a trainwreck, in which it should be experienced episodically with everyone else. I regret not being here when Code Geass was airing. I'm glad I was able to witness the spectacle that was Madoka thread, especially when the whole Fukushima/Earthquake disaster was n full effect an the show was cancelled for a week. Everybody went absolutely fucking nuts.

Ah lists, fuck yea.

I'm liking season 2 so far. It's similar to the first season yet it feels a little bit different.
It's gorgeous to look at though, or well, I love all those colors and gradient and crazy stuff.

Yeah I thought the weird gradient stuff was pretty neat. The use of color was a lot of fun too. It is a very colorful happy series that gives off good vibes.

Wait, did this actually happen?! That's almost as irresistible as cat moe.

I thought it was just heavy implication on that show.
2MB of Boys Kissing
But are they gay?
They're off to rescue the girl who wanted to bone Sion.

Totally not gay.

Or at the most, bi-curious.

You got me by 1 show. I am going to start watching Idolmaster right now in order to rectify this. I have no idea what I'm getting myself into.
It's not horrible. It is fun to watch, just there isn't much to it besides pandering, like the games. The animation is excellent at certain parts and the girls/producer are likeable. Well most of them.

List wars again?
