It's a lot of fun if nothing else, but there does seem to be something to it. Nobody knows what that is yet. It is worth it for hilarious penguin antics.

Isn't crossdressing the whole premise of the show?

Riyoko Ikeda certainly has a thing for ladies who look, dress, and behave like men.

but a men as Marie Antoinette doubleganger? Come on, that's insane!

Actively watching:

Usagi Drop
Penguin Drum
Idolm@ster
Steins Gate

Backburner:

Hanasaku Iroha

Backlogged but planned:

Final episodes of HeartCatch PreCure
2nd half of Spice and Wolf S2.
Casshern Sins

My list is ridiculously short:

Penguindrum
Blood-C

I don't dislike No. 6 or Usagi Drop either, but the above are the only two shows this season that are compulsive viewing for me.

Well you can't blame (or thank) them for this, it's just an adaptation of what happened.
It is BONES fault for choosing to adapt it in the first place.

I'm glad I was able to witness the spectacle that was Madoka thread, especially when the whole Fukushima/Earthquake disaster was n full effect an the show was cancelled for a week. Everybody went absolutely fucking nuts.
Dude, it was on hold for more than a week. Proceedings in the thread still had some semblance of sanity after one lousy week.

I'm expecting tongue in 8, oral in 9 and full blown anal in 10.

If it was, I don't remember. I think I put it out of my mind because it was too horrifying to imagine.

But it's true. It's so visually bland and cold, much like the movie itself. I didn't really care for it at all.

Only Yesterday is so much better than anything else Ghibli has done it's ridiculous. I guess it just made my standards higher.

Honestly, I think .hack//sign is pretty terrible because the story development is ridiculously slow. It is mostly talking heads the entire show and what little story there is doesn't feel very satisfying after all the downtime. The music is great, the character designs are decent and the settings are pretty nice, but overall the show is just kind of empty and soulless. When you get to the end of it, it's like "Thats it? that's all there is?". I was actually angry after putting up with the pacing only to reach that ending.
Yes, it's slow. It's supposed to be that way. It's a series about story, not about action. And the story really is pretty good. I think the cast is great, full of memorable characters, and the story is interesting and keeps going right to the end. The ending fits the series very well. It's a little confusing, but does make sense.

I mean, yes, it's mostly talking heads, but that's what's great about it, not what's bad!

Other Bee Train shows have progressed faster and had more going on from the beginning, although the studio definitely takes its time telling a story.
What, do you actually like .hack//Legend of Twilight's Bracelet too, or something? Because I thought that show was terrible, with a stupid, stupid story, annoying, generic-anime characters, a focus on fighting and stupid junk, and generally almost nothing of what made Sign such a great series... I didn't get far at all into that show before I gave up on it because of how bad it was.

Liminality is pretty good, though, I like that a lot. The recent OVA series Quantum was great as well, it kind of felt like Sign but with real-world parts and much more fighting than Sign had. Well done series. As for Roots, it's okay, better than Twilight but worse than those other three by a good margin.

As for other Bee Train shows, I really like Noir, and like El Cazador de la Bruja and Avenger. Madlax is okay but not as good as those other three.

But he doesn't have to watch it all in one week, eh! His brain, with all that Oshii and such inside, is going to melt and then he is not going to remember anything at all!
I know I'm not good at joking in English, sorry guys (I also despise using emoticons)
Hah, pretty much all of those movies were recommendations except for Only Yesterday and my upcoming watch of Welcome to the Space Show. They were all a good antidote to Redline, so I kind of went on a roll.

But yeah, 8 movies in a week is sort of the height of my movie watching prowess. I don't think I've done something like this since high school.

That´s actually what disappointed me the most. Except for short scenes, like when the father takes the girl on her first trip, the movie failed to present the scale in a creative, imaginative way. I´d say that´s because of the constant switching to the humans that lived in the house. Would have been much better if the movie had always been from the view of the borrowers and never done wide angle camera views. Made it all look too normal.
Well, the way I see it I can proceed to say some rather hurtful things about your mom or we can agree to disagree. Your call.

Why would a show's popularity change what you personally think about the quality of a series? I don't really get how that makes any sense. That totally reeks of Anime Hipster unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Nah, it happens in every medium of entertainment i.e. today's generation of music sucks, mine was better, etc. There isn't anything hipster about it. I think it's pretty obvious to see how the popularity of something can affect someone's impression of a show. Imagine if you were recommended a popular show. You go in with expectations and those expectations can either elevate or diminish your experience with it. It being popular or even hated as much as it is atop of that amplifies the hype so to speak. Then you correlate your experience with others' experience, and it may or may not reassure your opinion of a popular work.

Of course, it's easier to appreciate things however the fuck you want. Why should others' opinions of something I like affect my enjoyment of it? But that's another discussion entirely.

Mayo Chiki 2-4: Well, I decided to give this show another try, considering how many people seem to still be watching it. I must admit it's gotten more likeable, despite still being completely ridiculous. At least the artwork is quite attractive. And the "Meeeeeh" in Ep 2 was adorable. If only Jiro could communicate with people like a normal human being. Granted, that's practically a requirement for this type of show.

I'll categorize this as brain-cell killing amusement for now. EDIT: Also, Eri Kitamura's voice is sex.

Just sit back and enjoy.

I suppose you're right. :P Anyhoo

Mayo Chiki 5: I'm pretty fuck-me-boots aren't approved school attire. Well, I guess Jiro's glasses had to get stuck on something. And once again, if only Jiro could communicate like a normal human being none of this would be a problem. >>

Also, Jiro's totally an M. "Please forgive me, Jou-sama!!!" Yep, he's enjoying the abuse. Aww, poor Subaru crying at the end was actually kind of cute.

The list of watching:

  • GinTama
  • Natsume Youjinchou San
  • SKET Dance
  • Usagi Drop
  • Naruto Shippuden (Not afraid to admit)(though I may put it on hold until the filler is done)
  • Bleach
  • Hanasaku Iroha
  • Hmm, is that it?

Just finished:

  • Mad Bull 34, it was an experience.

To start:

  • More glorious MANime.

What .hack really makes me want is a singleplayer RPG set in an MMO world.

Mayo Chiki 6: For the love of - she's showing her fucking CLEAVAGE!! How the fuck can... *sigh* you know what, never mind. At least she's cute in a Chinese dress. Oh, my sweet megane!! Random observation: I haven't seen a single teacher in this school. There were nurses in the 2nd episode, but no teachers. And Kureha is not-so-secretly having lesbian tendencies. And of course Subaru's in S4, that's the only thing that made sense. What a bunch of stalkers! Knowing about people who manage random vending machines Subaru uses? Really?

Well, everyone's friends now. Which means even more misunderstandings up ahead! Despite how completely fucking ridiculous this show is, I'm not hating it like I thought I would. I like the artwork, and I like music-coming-to-a-grinding-halt gags which this show has in spades, so I'll see where this goes.

That's, erm, exactly what the PS2 .hack games are.
