I can't even comprehend how it's possible to be this wrong.
And I don't understand why some people actually like him. He was awful...

I thought the excuse about her being Subaru's sister/cousin was good enough. I mean it's not much sillier than no one ever figuring out Clark Kent is actually Superman.
No, as was pointed out, remember what pink hair said.
Anyway though, even without that it's a really sketchy excuse... but that dropped it right into the completely idiotic.

It's called the superman effect.
Edit: Damn you Instro.
That's an excuse, not an explanation!

As much as I don't mind the utterly stupid obliviousness of the cast I wouldn't be opposed to this.
Or really, just less of that damn generic pink-haird tsundere.
I've said since her first episode that the series would be better without her, but what episode 7 did was made me add catgirl and MC's sister to the list of characters the show would be better off without, or at least would be better off with them in smaller roles. Pink hair is indeed the main problem, those other two aren't nearly as bad, and are admittedly occasionally funny... but even so, the best parts of the series have consistently been when it's just MC, Subaru, and Suzutsuki in the main roles. I expect that to continue.
That's fine but it's almost excruciatingly dumb that pink-haired girl sees Subaru and her first thought is "MY GOD YOU'RE MAKING HIM CROSSDRESS JIRO?"
Right, that was the most insanely stupid thing in the episode, and one of the stupidest in the series so far... easily outdoes that chinadress hands down in stupidity.

It can only be a harem series if the focus of the story is 'who will the male protagonist hook up with'
If this is not the single explicit focus of the series then harem elements are tertiary to whatever the series is proper
No, not really... that's one kind of harem show, but other kinds can still be primarily harem for sure. See below also.

Not really. That kind of narrative is common because of the dating-sim-to-anime adaptations, not because it's essentially what a harem anime is. It's also another way to justify the preexisting harem setting because we know the harem must end someday since it's already a dubious idea.
I agree. Like, in Love Hina or the first series of To Heart, there's little question about who the MC will end up with, that's obvious right from the beginning... but I doubt that anyone would say that those shows aren't harem shows. I'm not sure if harem shows have changed since then, or if there are just different ways to do them, but certainly harem shows don't HAVE to be about wondering who the guy ends up with, and of course it probably ending up with a no-decision ending. They usually are, but aren't always and don't have to be.
