Gintama 222: I can't believe the same joke is still funny. Damn.

I loved OreImo's music too.

When the hell did OreImo become K-On. Am I supposed to have shame in admitting I liked it? Because I won't and never will.

Just be prepared for the consequences.

...

Am I in opposite land?

So you're ashamed to like the cute girls doing cute things show but are not ashamed of watching the incest show?!

Er, I have no shame in admitting I liked both shows for what they are. Enjoyed OreImo much much more so than K-On though.

And how exactly would an anime depict a brother and sister having a sibling relationship without you seeing it as incestious?
Pretty much.

I think there might be different levels of overtones between the anime and the original novels.
Of course this being an anime discussion topic only the former is really relevant here, but I'm just saying.
And it's also important to note that the two should be separated. Why are we getting dangerously close to anime = manga?

You know, claiming something is never explicitly stated, therefore it doesn't exist, in a visual medium like anime, is one of the worst arguments ever. Words are rarely necessary to confirm what the camera explicitly shows. So when you have a show called "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute," where the older brother is the protagonist, where the little sister plays incest-fetishizing games, where the camera gazes at her with male intent, and you try to argue it has nothing to do with incest or incest pandering, it beggars belief.
And they're standard male gaze shots sexualizing her. Period. The actual incest pandering aren't from those shots but her portrayal as an otaku.

I'm pretty sure we watched the same show, and I didn't see anything that threw red flags.
People need to name these red flags.

Nobody is saying that Usagi Drop is the holy grail of anime. We just love it because it is heartwarming and very cute.
Wait, so the same reason I like it? I figured I had to have been missing something.

Pleae tell me you don't think Bunny Drop is on the same level as Mayo Chiki et al.
Same level how? Obviously they're different things and Bunny Drop certainly isn't going to be just as good as every silly harem anime ever made.

Close but no. Have you forgotten about Pengu-god?

No I haven't. Honestly didn't mean my comment with any real sincerity as there is still plenty time in this year. But it's closer to the top than some crappy harem anime.

Even more proof that watching bad anime is a very bad thing. It's downright dangerous. Not only could you spend that time watching something good, eventually it makes you say things like this.

A cautionary tale.

Utena 01 (Because all the cool kids are doing it): Death Metal in my anime about pretty girls and boy beating the crap out of each other? I'm already a fan!
There was death metal?

Ok that explains it.
I prefer that length of show. The standard 24-26 episode series often have a lot of filler and junk episodes where nothing really happens. Shows with 12-13 episodes don't have time to mess around with filler and have to get right to the point.
Someone didn't watch Ano Hana.

Cant believe my post about Oriemo's license caused all this, and for 8 pages. I feel like the puppet master.

I'm sorry all you innocent bystanders. I'M SORRY!

It's not the sort of final story arc I was hoping for, but it'll be interesting to see where it goes at least.
I think it's a dumb arc that's being executed well.

No you're not! You love it.

No, Kirino is sexualized because the show visually sexualizes her. They don't even try to hide it.
The fact that you have to to go to the length of pulling a .gif makes me sad. People should have picked up on these things as they were watching it.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Ep. 11 & 12

The ending was nice. :) I'm glad I can say that I've finished a series, since I haven't done so in like two years. At the end there it kind of became the Gurren Lagann of magical girl shows, though not nearly as awesome. Now to decide which show to watch next, I need to keep up this momentum.

That's an awesome song. From what I watched of Utena, I certainly liked the music. It's a shame that the fights weren't fitting of such a song.

I have, my point was that Bunny Drop is competent but not really some Holy Grail of anime that stands head and shoulders above the muck of harem anime.
Really? I think, at the very least, it's far more competently made on a technical level than those shows. That's even without getting into any discussion of content.

I'm in favor of the execution of dumb anime arcs.

When you have a vested interest in not picking up things, you tend to not.

Usagi Drop is the best anime of the year.
It's definitely up their in terms of quality, but not quite. Plus, within the period of a year you don't really get that many amazing shows anyway. You usually have to cast your net a little wider, well, at least with the years after 2007.

2007 was an aberration. One of the best anime years of all time, won't get anything like that ever again.

Thus far this year has been great (already better than last) although the Fall season is looking all kinds of shaky.
