Also, Monster uses three-tone shading.

Branduil said:Anything like Tatami, TGWLTT, the flashback parts of Only Yesterday, etc. where characters are basically lit in only one tone instead of two tones with a clear directional light source.
I don't think calling it no shading is exactly accurate. I mean, characters tone will usually still change if it's night or day, or they're in the shadow of a building or something. I guess you could just call it flat shading.7Th said:I wouldn't call that "one tone shading", though, since it's more like... there is no shading at all. Regardless, there are a bunch of Gonzo shows like that, actually. Bokurano and Speed Grapher come to mind.
Only if you're working with pure hues.7Th said:I wouldn't call that "one tone shading", though, since it's more like... there is no shading at all.
Branduil said:Also, Bokurano had shading, I'm pretty sure. As well as crappy CG mecha.

It's one of the best animated films of all time and it's available on bluray and DVD.
You sure you're thinking of the right show/episode? This looks shaded to me.7Th said:It had a few episodes with no shading at all; episode 7, with animation direction by Shingo Natsume, had "flat shading".

Wrong again.Uchip said:apart from the crying scenes

There was like one crying scene in TGWLTT. It was even completely within context and understandable.

Those bans were about spoilers, not about anime = manga. There isn't much of a connection between the two issues.Geneijin said:Not when you're basically saying anime = manga. You should already know why this isn't a good idea with the recent bans resulting from spoilers. Let's not name names, shall we?
No, there's plenty in the show. I think that what I know about the LNs makes it even more clear, but no, as I said before, you don't need to read that stuff to know what the show's about. The anime does that plenty well on its own.Or you want to validate your opinion and you can't find enough in the anime to outright confirm your suspicions.
When the character is the only male in the area, I think the camera angles might be a relevant thing to talk about, sure.Do we really need to go into distinguishing male gaze shots between the cameraman and the character?
He actually did win once. One of the 3 people to do so.icarus-daedelus said:Is that the fisherman dude who came THIS close to winning like 20 times but never made it?

the crying just seemed a bit OTT, you're welcome to your opinion though

Bunny Drop manga has already been spoiled plenty of times throughout the thread. If you want to play a fun game, go back through the thread and try and find them. I think you'll be pleasently surprised.zeroshiki said:If someone spoiled Penguin Drum (from the guidebook/novel) or Bunny Drop (from the manga), the animegaf rage will blot out the sun.

Honestly if we compare the entirely of im@s to the second cour of haniro; im@s undoubtedly reigns supreme, even when you are including ep2 & 3 of im@s which were no-where near as bad as episode 13 & 14 of haniro lulz.EmmanuelMunoz said:Are you comparing the entirety of IM@S to the more recent episodes of HanIro?
Funny thing is, im@s is better at producing manufactured bullshit than HanaIro. Or, at least the writing is more subtle.Branduil said:He's just trying to troll me poorly.

I don't really think much about Idolmaster is subtle. Not that I necessarily judge shows by subtlety.firehawk12 said:Funny thing is, im@s is better at producing manufactured bullshit than HanaIro. Or, at least the writing is more subtle.

Im@s is awful. It's so bad that it's been the second best involving the use of idols this season.
IM@S is the second best show of the season overall. If that makes it awful maybe you should try toning down your standards.darkside31337 said:I'd argue he's doing quite an effective job at it since my blood is boiling.

HanaIro still offends me with how predictably Jdrama-ey it is. Then again, I suppose having no standards for Idolmaster helps as well.Branduil said:I don't really think much about Idolmaster is subtle. Not that I necessarily judge shows by subtlety.
