I think i'm gonna watch Ippo. If i don't like it.. well I guess it's not for me. Maybe i'll start another Naoki Urasawa Series. like 20th Century Boys.

I have yet to meet a single person that wasn't at least interested in ippo after the first few episodes. The show starts quick and hits that gas pedal and never looks back.

Friend of mine I was watching it with didn't care. He was just like "Oh, Ippo is the strongest automatically. I don't care."

That's super depressing. I have friends mostly into idol or SOL stuff that praise the hell out of ippo. It's kinda like Hunter x Hunter and Jojo where people that don't even like shonens like that show.

But he totally isn't. That's the thing, Ippo is strong because of all his hard work and no matter how strong he gets there is always Takamura. In RPG terms Ippo is the protagonist but Takamura is the ally that is already level 99 to let you know how much better Ippo needs to get.

Muv Luv Extra drags hard and unlimited isn't much better, but it's really really worth it for Alternative. Extra isn't too long after the first route, since you only have to do the Sumika and Meiya (which is basically the same except for the last hour or so) routes to start unlimited. And unlimited is about 10 hours long (which short for VNs). Alternative is the best game I've ever played, but not everything is willing to sit through dozens of hours of mediocrity to get to it.

Fate/Stay Night is harder for me to say, because a lot of people say it gets better after the Fate route, but I enjoy the whole thing except for parts of Heaven's Feel

But seriously, if you made it 20 hours into muv luv extra, just keep going, it's not much further to the greatness of alternative, which makes evangelion look like complete garbage.

I gave up after the 20 hours because I did the the girl next door route, which I believe is your avatar. But I was playing on Windows 8.

Dear Jesus, it was hell. I had to install it like 4 times, apply the English patch twice. The game crashes half way through, and the only way to fix is to remove the English log file advance one line beyond the crashing point, and put the file back. It also fatal crashes during that routes credits. Which deleted my saves.

That means that advance through previously read dialog is gone for my second play through. And I can't take it anymore. I fucking HATED the first route. It was everything I hated about anime, and is why I don't watch any beyond maybe one or two shows a year.

/rant

I got myself a new MacBook now which I bootcamped. Gonna go back and clear the other, because I found a save online of both routes cleared. It's gonna take a while, but I'll make it to Alternative.

Some day.....

I told him that and I told him to keep watching but he refused, after
Ippo won his match against the cool guy who's name I can't remember he was just like "Oh, he's invincible. Done."

DP.

Seriously? But Ippo literally lucked out on that fight. He was far from invincible

Ohhhhhh I totally get it now. Yeah seriously, I love that game but it is just not compatible with PC's, especially Windows 8, unless the stars just happen to fucking align that time and it actually starts running. It's really fucking annoying.

And the Extra route is intentionally written to represent everything that's wrong with anime styled games. It almost blows your mind that alternative has the same writer as the mediocrity that Extra is.

I'd just follow a non spoiler guide and hold the crtl button to skip through all the dialogue until you get back to where you are.

What can I say? His favorite anime is Eureka 7 and got extremely butt hurt at my slightest criticism. He also hates being shown things.

Seriously, one time I played a Best Friendcast in the car, and I'm aware it's hard to just jump into it without knowing who they are, but I kid you not, literally five seconds in, literally, not figuratively, fucking a literal five seconds into it he asked "When does this shit get funny?" without a hint of irony in his voice. Like, Jesus Christ, guy.

I'm picky about the animes I watch.

That's fair, just try to give it a few episodes before deciding whether to drop/keep going.

He's one of those people that keep watching anime despite not liking anything about anime. It's kinda shit.

That almost sounds like me now lol. There's very few things I like about anime, especially the moe/SOL genre, but I keep trying anyway because i want to try to like it.

So...

what do you remain friends with this person then?
It sounds like you guys don't vibe.

That used to be me, before I realized that I wasn't enjoying myself.

I don't care enough about the anime scene, to try and get back into it.

That's the plan anyway. It's just that I could be doing something else in the time that will take me. Have this Sunday off from work, might do it then.

About the actual writing itself, I respect what they did with the series. That takes balls. Really. Technically the second game is locked until you slog through two routes. And that is all world building.

I actually laughed audibly during a scene where a character is explaining mutiverses and how one person may be able to jump between them into different versions of themselves. I laughed because the whole scene is done as a "look how goofy this character is." But that is the real plot of the series.

It's my best friend. Ninja turtle guy. We have pretty much everything else in common and have a great rapport as well as having been through a lot together, he just acts like an asshole over certain things. Anime and recommendations being some of them.

Still haven't gotten my copy of Ultimax yet. Hopefully it gets here soon, but in the meantime, I'm gonna go grab a bite to eat. Burritos and tacos or chicken sandwiches from Chic-filet.... Hm...

I was a lot more into anime a year ago, but now I probably like/care less about airing anime especially than Liam does. I only care about Fate/Stay Night and Jojo now and probably won't care about it again till more Ippo/Jojo/HxH comes out or another VN/Manga I like gets here.

I'll probably get around to Bebop and Monster and more Gundam one day, but that'll be a long time

Nobody's perfect. Except me.
especially me

Seriously though that is terribly annoying. I have a friend who has similar hangups. They stopped listening to my opinions when they absolutely hated Persona 4 after 60 hours, and proceeded to decide to never listen to my opinions again.

Exactly lol, and the funny part is that it gets
waaaaaaay deeper than that. Like using advanced college physics to explain certain things lmao. Just wait, things start getting really complex, but make so much sense. It's mindblowing.

You're better than me. I haven't watched an anime, not named Nichijou, in years.

Have you read the Tskihime Manga. Hell I would recommend it to those who haven't even read the VN. I think it's actually the best version of Arc route ever because how they tie everything together.

Just finished watching WD, that last episode was actually WAY better than pretty much every other episode this season.

Seeing Lee again being such a cool guy really hits home reminding you how shit everyone who isn't him is, it's really depressing but also nice. Also 70% of people killing Kenny.

I really want to wait for the remake. The art looks great and it'll have voice acting too which I really like in VNs, even if I can't understand it.

The worst and most annoying part is that I know his tastes so well that I only recommend him things I know he will like, but he refuses to try them purely out of not believing that he'll like it.

I got him into Dark Souls, which is now his favorite game ever, Mass Effect, which is now one of his favorite games ever, Tiger and Bunny, which is now one of his favorite anime ever, Invincible, which is now his favorite comic book ever, and every single time he was just like "Nah, I ain't gonna like that shit." Every single time, it's fucking infuriating. Especially when there're so many things I know he will absolutely love.

No, but really read the Manga. Actually I'm going to start pushing that Manga instead of Baoh.

I mean it starts with our main hero cutting up the female lead into 17 pieces. How can you not be interested?

I love that in VNs. Steins;Gate and Zero Escape's best part's were the bits when people were trying to figure shit out using science.

This sounds extremely similar to somebody I know. I share your pain.

Oh then you're gonna looooooooove Alternative because
nothing is unexplained with bullshit logic. If something that seems bullshit in the game, there's actually real world science explaining it.

Edit: DP

I gave that person Persona 4 cause they just asked to borrow the disc seeing it in my game collection. I barely knew them at the time. Now I think every 4 months we randomly argue about whether or not Persona 4 is a good game or not. It's a little bonkers. We're also like best friends now, despite it, so that's weird.

Anyway to get back on topic, now that I know people better I occasionally can get them into stuff despite them being annoyingly skeptic. Does your friend have something he's basing his dismissal on or is it literally just because? If it's just outright dismissal, then that's ridiculous.

Is the manga actually better than the VN? How would that actually work in a VN that has multiple routes?

How they did it is they focus on arcueid, but they put slight information from the other routes to make it make sense.

You see, you only get the full picture of what's happening in Tskukihime if you play all the routes. Without that you're probably wondering what X character is doing at Y time. The manga fixs this by just putting the info in without taking away the focus of the route.

Ok that actually seems interesting. Is it written/drawn by Type-Moon or is it some fan thing?

I really like the expanded notes section in VLR because it goes deep into the science, and it even calls out it's own bullshit pseudo-science, and then goes onto explain the real thing.

That Kenny hate, though the situation leading up to it was kind of his fault I would still pick Jane over Kenny.

I was right, the Kenny hate masked the seriousness of the final decision.

It is MONSTROUS that Jane made Clem shoot the closest thing she had to father figure (uncle at best) in order to prove a point. Staying with her is a huge mistake.

Also Matt and Patt forgetting that Clem shot Arvo's sister in front of him and not figuring out why he hates her
