Super Mario Odyssey - 10/10 from Edge

I mean.. that’s a really really good list and the 10s they’ve given overall are still insanely scarce. Shame people are really going to use Skyward Sword of all things to dismiss it. It’s still a solid 9/10 for me

I would replace Skyward Sword with Twilight Princess. GOAT Zelda dungeons.

I had a feeling Odyssey would be the Mario equivalent of BOTW for Switch. :) Nintendo is on continuous fire lol

Bayonetta 2 (2014)
Bloodborne (2015)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)
Super Mario Odyssey (2017)

Fitting that 3 Zelda games and 3 Mario games have the most 10/10 in that list where each game that scored 10 came from the same console during it's era

Looking forward to playing it!

Gawd, there have been so many good games out this year and many are very different experiences.

Such a good time to pick up a controller.

Zelda, Mario kart and mario + rabbids alone was enough to sell me on the system, this is just icing on the cake . Can’t wait to see what they bring next year .

Very good taste, although I'm side-eyeing GTA 4 and Gran Turismo on there instead of GT 2.

I'll be picking it up on launch day. The Switch has been incredible this year with Zelda, Mario, Mario + Rabbids, and Splatoon 2.

People will zero in on GTA IV, but LittleBigPlanet is the odd one out on this list. It was praised for being the first major 'create your own' type game, and that meant people ignored the fact that it was an absolutely terrible platformer.

It had charm, online features, an amazing level designer - but without solid mechanics what does it all add up to? Who is saying 'You need to go back and play LittleBigPlanet' here in 2017? The rest of them I can see it - I can see them still being worth playing. LittleBigPlanet? Never. Massive disappointment.

I can see it in front of my eyes.

PlayStation fans will lament that Uncharted/Horizon didn't win.
Nintendo fans will lament that Zelda/Mario didn't win.
PC fans will lament that PUBG didn't win.
Xbox fans will just post "Scorpio".

And gaming fans won't give a fuck.

Not too surprised, the game certainly looks incredible. I'm glad that we are starting to get confirmation though... Man Switch's first year has been so amazing and Xenoblade 2 isn't even out yet.

Which totally is a 10/10 so yes, like Skyward Sword.
Honestly, no. I loved Skyward Sword and gave it a good 60 hours.

It's a clear 9/10, just as Twilight Princess was a clear 8/10 even though people flipped their lids over the Gamespot score for that one.

Games with legitimate flaws deserve a critical eye.

Pokémon isn't getting a 10.

Idk man, first console Pokémon game, looks like it might have a big budget and really shake up the formula. It could happen.

If Pokemon and Metroid Prime 4 both get 10/10's, that's it. Nintendo should retire from the industry and ascend into the heavens.

I remember during the Wii era, there was a long period of time when people asked "Where is Mario? Where is Zelda?"

2017, we have an amazing Zelda, and by all evidence provided so far, an amazing Mario.

Tbf to the Wii, it launched with a Zelda game and a full Mario game was released inside a year. More or less the same situation as the Switch. Both of these also had sequels within the 4 subsequent years aswell.

this year Game Awards will be a hell of a war

That's what everyone will say but in the end, Zelda will take home most of the awards. Not to the extent that something like TLOU did, where it took home the greatest percentage of GOTY awards, but the final tally will show a clear "winner".
