Super Mario Odyssey Announced (Holiday 2017)

"New York City" is called "New Donk City," and I see "Dixie Street" and "Cranky Street" on signposts

I guess the Kong's took over the City... mob like.

Are you saying that Mario will have to rescue Princess Peach from a Donkey Kong who grabs her and clambers up the side of the Empire Banana Building?

Heh, people wanted Mario to do something a little different. They even went to lengths to say that this is set away from the Mushroom Kingdom.

I guess the idea is that he's travelling to different worlds, but it just makes the game look like it doesn't have cohesive art design to me. I don't know. It's so disjointed and lacking in strong art direction in certain parts that it feels like one of those demos where someone put Mario in UE4 to show you what it would look like. That city level looks eerily reminiscent of Sonic Adventure (art wise) which I don't think is a good thing.

Open world Mario never sounded appealing to me, so I hope everyone else is happy at least.

Hopefully I don't have to steal somebody's car to drive to the next level.

Look crazy awesome but really irritated that it's not launch or at least a summer title, really sick of having to wait until holidays after for every 3D Mario.

No complaints from me on this one... looks good. The humans kinda surprised me, but I oddly think it works. They really killed the style imo. And yay for original bosses

City section is so bad aesthetically. Like oh noo. Why didn't they make a downtown mushroom kingdom instead.

Rest of this looks fantastic.

Love that they're going back to "open world" design philosophy of 64 and Sunshine but those visuals were rough as hell to me. Think Galaxy games have aged better than that style personally.

Why are people complaining about the city.

Did you guys not see it? It was intentional. Superimposed with the cel shaded food world, the realistic forest, etc. among other things.

The trailer is the first time I've been really wowed by a Mario game since Mario 64. I love the series, but this is the "something new" I think it's needed for a loooooong time.

I don't get why people race to make OPs and then don't even add relevant images, details and links?

Not even the logo?

Conflict emotions.
I hate Sunshine and Sonic Adventure.
But then this could be that getting rid of the bad parts and being more Mario 64 in spirit.

I like the city BUT the humans... would have liked they were a little more mushroom kingdom like. Hell, they could have used Diamond City (even if it looks like New York) and have the Wario Ware characters there. Now that would have been amazing.
I do like they still gave the a 1920's aspect to the humans though.

The rest looks more than amazing, Galaxy and 64 style.

EDIT
Oh New York is supposed to be from the DK games... Oh that could be really cool.

Can't dig how the realistic style of the cities clash with the rest of the game, but other than that it looks really damn good.
