Dead or Alive Dimensions made the same stage look so much better just by dialing up the orange.Yeah, it's bland as hell, but ah well. :/
Yeah, but Metroid is full of interesting-looking worlds so it sucks that the Smash stages haven't been stellar.Metroid stages bland? Who would have thought?
The Metroid stages in Brawl were also bland.
Isn't the Wii U and 3DS one different?
3DS one looks to be more flying around the circumference and atmosphere of planets (and fucking awesome shaders), and the Wii U one appears to be colliding worlds.
At least Norfair looked cool.Metroid stages bland? Who would have thought?

It's all the same video, just from different stages of having things unlocked. None of the leakers had the game, just the video. That's why all the DLC leaks were completely made up.

That's correct! I mean there could be, but there's no reason to think so other than some kind of gut feeling. So the lock screen pic may have been taken before all of the characters were unlocked. So we don't really have any evidence that there are any more characters.
It's like a remix. It has lava and a giant monster, but in a slightly different way.Lava rises onto a stage of some generic platforms
Giant monster makes the stage rotate every so often
Metroid levels
Pyrosphere is a combo breaker for Metroid levels
I think most stages are decent to play on when you're not playing too seriously. We all had no problem playing on Mute City or Pokefloats. The problem comes with stages where the stage gimmick feels like it overrides everything else, such as Icicle Mountain's awful scrolling. At least Norfair looked cool.
And Brinstar in 64/Melee kinda captured the mood well enough.
They're all awful to play though, aside from kinda Frigate.

Thing of it is, they don't have to be. The Metroid series has many exceptional locales from which to choose from. But Metroid will probably never get the proper representation it deserves.

Sakurai hates metroid and donkey kong confirmed. Zelda also got no newcomers. Sakurai hates zelda confirmed. He also abandoned his baby, kirby. No new kirby newcomers, no great kirby stages.
All sakurai cares about is mario and kid icarus.
Yeah, today pics don't really confirm there will be more characters.
Not so long to wait for real confirmation anyway
He gave Kirby Ultra Sword and DeDeDe has yet to show his FS. Which might be Masked DeDeDe. So Sakurai still likes Kirby.
At most, I think it's Sakurai hinting there are more unannounced characters, like Ganondorf and Duck Hunt.
This is somebody's first Smash game, after all.
I guess I happen to like both versions.
I think this gen's FD will be the coolest yetunless you count the FD variations of some other stages...
I'm also pretty excited on the BGM in FD. While I thought Brawl's stage design is bland, it's music is the best.
newcomers + stages = love
No newcomers or stages = hate

What if they have no newcomers but new stages like Metroid?
For Metroid, it's just bad luck, but for Donkey Kong, I'm not sure you can argue anything but malice.Sakurai hates metroid and donkey kong confirmed. Zelda also got no newcomers. Sakurai hates zelda confirmed. He also abandoned his baby, kirby. No new kirby newcomers, no great kirby stages.

Nah, the stage is bland though. But it does have a beloved fan-requested boss, so I guess he likes Metroid now? What if they have no newcomers but new stages like Metroid?
Assuming the eshop doesn't explode and it doesn't take an hour and a half to download, i'll be playing smash 4 in exactly 10 days!
Still hate. Has to be both or he doesn't love them. He REALLY loves mario. 2 newcomers, like 6 stages.

In general I'm kinda picky about stages. I want the stage to influence how the fight flows and what options are available, but I don't ever want to feel like I'm fighting the stage more than my opponent(s). But then sometimes even that can be fun, so I go back and forth with it.I think most stages are decent to play on when you're not playing too seriously. I wonder what the BGM will be.
Remix of the main theme?
I'm surprised Fusion or Metroid II didn't get 3DS stages. Both would have been really interesting and different scenes, especially Fusion.
I'd also love to see a *descending* Metroid II-inspired stage:
Thank you georly. Now that you have proven to us that Sakurai doesn't hate Metroid, we can continue complaining about the shitty stage choices knowing that he just has really bad taste.newcomers + stages = love
No newcomers or stages = hate
i find eshop downloads are faster with the download later button and leaving it in standby then sitting there and watching the little blocks fall into the game lol.

Seriously, I want to see a DKCR stage once the 3DS version is out.
Yes. We need Itty Bitty Biters as a stage!
Just so you know how much I agree:
You know, I just realized another cool Metroid locale they could have gone with if they wanted an explicitly mechanical or industrial looking stage. They could have gone with Generator B from the Norion act of Metroid Prime 3. I'm just wondering how the stage could reflect that amazing sequence where Ridley and Samus have their fight that breaks the glass floor leading to that Gandalf versus Balrog like boss battle.
I don't see anything out of the ordinary here. Lots of people have suggested classic Falcon as an alt idea vs Sakurai coming up with NES Open Tournament Golf Mario which I'm pretty sure I've not seen suggested before.I wish the Project M guys ended up helping Sakurai's team create content some day... They do a great job and have great ideas for homages.
Generator B's not that exciting. If we had to go for a Prime 3 stage where Ridley was fought, I'd prefer the Leviathan. Sure, it's a big arena without much to serve as a gimmick, but it looks spectacular. You know, I just realized another cool Metroid locale they could have gone with if they wanted an explicitly mechanical or industrial looking stage. I was thinking more like the scrap yard you fight Nightmare in. It would be so different of an area, with an obvious gravity altering gimmick. Nightmare is a good choice too because they can just rip his Other M model.
Man do you know what stages I miss? The N64 ones that never came back, these were my favorites.
