Super Smash Bros Wii U Review Thread

While I think this game will get a lot of pretty good scores (not that it matters that much to me anyways :p), I won't be surprised if it gets a lower score than both Melee and Brawl. The rift between Melee vs. Brawl may have changed how reviewers look at Smash games and what to analyze. Just a hunch.

Same here. I predict a lot of reviewers criticizing the lack of "depth" found in Melee. I don't recall any Brawl review mentioning anything like that.

Paste Games - 8.5

I have no idea who Paste Games is.

My favorite quote from that review:

This game has leaned even further into its own wackiness, and it’s up to you whether you want to come along for the ride. Heck, this game will actually let you watch a game without any active players in it at all, which I’m pretty sure no prior iteration has allowed. As a joke, I set up eight AI-controlled versions of my friend’s Mii Fighter against one another, and the game let us watch the match without any human participants taking part. We sat by and took bets on which computer would win (it was “Angry Ken #3”).

Mii Fight Bets could be a new thing.

I don't get what he means by "Character customization is more obvious on the TV"?

I certainly understood what the customization aspect did in Smash 3DS. Does he mean visually? Because I guess the 3DS Mii Fighter battle, you really can't make out which Mii you're fighting unless you pause or have good eyes.

can't wait for manchildren bitching over reviewers with different opinions than them regarding female representation in games
Too late, even if he was joking many others are serious.

I highly doubt the media that is garbage at playing ANY game, let alone a fighter, will bother.

Watching computers play has always been possible. When I was a kid I'd do it with Smash 64 hoping to learn something. LOL

I did the betting thing with a friend one time. We both picked level 9 Ganon (in Melee) and bet a dollar on one or the other. They both instantly walked forward a step or two and up tilted. CPU match bets too fun. (I lost that dollar. V.V)

if this doesn't beat Brawl then all hope is lost.

I heard Jose Otero on past podcasts being worried about the speed of Smash 4 before so he might get critical on that aspect if he's the one handling the review of this game right now. And I suspect there would be others that will get a little more intricate on things that weren't really considered before, like stage hazards, blast zones, clones, etc. Dunno if there were those things on Smash 3DS reviews but I won't be surprised if at least one tackled on those things.
