Super Street Fighter IV Ships 1 Million Copies

Maybe I'm the only one, but I was expecting that this game would reach the 1 million mark very easily.

Street Fighter IV sold very well worldwide and SSFIV is being sold at a budget price, so why would anyone expect this to sell a lot less than SFIV? Sports game are released every year at full price and they sell very well every single year.

To me it seems Capcom can't estimate sales very well. They overestimated games like Bionic Commando and Dark Void to the point UK retailers had to drop the price to 1/4th of the original price, just so they could get rid of all the stock Capcom send them. Dark Void only lasted 2-3 weeks at full price in the UK, which has to be a record.

BTW some UK online retailers already had SSFIV out of stock and the game was only released today (shipment began Tuesday-Wednesday)

For the spanish one, change "es" to "esta" Spanish have to verbs for "to be" in this case "estar" is used instead of "Ser"

Oh you can add the German one: Das ist aber lecker
an french: C'est délicieux

You're right. Something being delicious isn't a permanent condition, so it wouldn't use ser. I do speak Spanish (not well). Been a while since I've had to use it :lol

Best fighting game ever! :D

Wha? But I thought this was a thread about SSFIV...

:D

edit: I'm not buying this game unless they tweaked the difficulty. There is a HUGE problem when I can even beat a game on easy. And no, I don't just suck at the game.

It seems a lot of people - including Capcom! - though Super wouldn't sell half what SFIV did. Maybe because it just didn't seem like the fighting game revival was /that/ strong and SFIV itself was a one-shot success.

I always felt there was potential for Super to outsell SFIV in time, at least on the 360 side where it sold less the first go-round. There was tons of skepticism over SFIV originally. I'm sure many people passed it up because they thought it was another crappy Capcom re-hash or even a budget game with little quality. ("Fighting games are so over, they're all cheap now.")

But now fighters are back in the spotlight and in the headlines regularly, what with Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and all. And people see them being played online a lot.

Couple that with launching Super at $35 - $40, and you got big sales. Whereas many thought only people who were hardcore SFIV fans would buy Super I suspect many of the sales so far are from new people who didn't jump on the first one but think the lower price + tons of new content is a great deal.

Ive heard that this time easiest is easier and hardest is harder. :lol
And yeah the price tag is all kind of awesome.

You honestly play fighting games for single player content?

Well anyway, you'll be happy to know they made boss Seth way more manageable.

Seth at least works differently in Super. On easy - medium he is far more pattern based and predictable. Simple tricks with almost any character shut him down. That also means anyone should be able to beat arcade mode on medium with every character, for those who care about achievements.

As for the rest of the cast, I'd say it seems a bit easier on medium and below, but as with any AI YMMV. There's always that one fight where the AI has a good pattern against a specific character if you get sucked into acting repetitively.

only when it comes to unlocking characters. I stopped playing SFIV when I realized it wasn't worth it if I couldn't even unlock characters cause the boss was too damned hard....on easy.

The CPU is much easier...you should have no problems completing it on Medium with most characters.

Added bonus...all the characters are unlocked from the start...and you earn colors/taunts simply by selecting the character each time.

How does the tekken franchise fare in fighting game sales?

One step above kof12?

Tekken 6 did not do well. It may have been the least profitable fighter this gen. They expected SF4 sales, they got Blazblue sales, if that.

Considering that Capcom projected to have SSFIV sell less than 500,000 copies, this is great for them.
That would not contradict this news bit, actually.

Would be one hell of an overshipment, though (not that it hasn't happened to Capcom before).

Yea, tekken 6 was bomba.

"Es" is fine, it just means that it IS. It's not wrong to say "Esto es delicioso" or "Este auto es negro" (Once Ryu smashes your car, it should be 'Este auto está destruido').

"Está" (Not 'esta' because that's another word) would be the word you're looking for, it means that this right now is in this state, delicious.

Tekken 6 shipped over 2 mil copies. Hardly a bomba, it is the only game Namco met projections with in its fiscal year.

You should have pressed Left a few more times and played on Very Easy.

Hmm....sounds good! Just may pick it up after hearing this. Thanks.

I'd rather lose on easy than win on very easy. I do have some pride/dignity when it comes to fighting games.

Fighting the CPU has nothing to do with skill and is a completely different game compared to real human opponents, so don't sweat it. If you get Super, play the Arcade mode once to unlock custom voices, then go online and never look back.

This doesn't make sense to me. Is there really a difference in the level of pride between Easy and Very Easy?

It shipped them, but didn't sell many of them. There's a reason it was $20 before Christmas some places.

Oh, Blazblue sales were excellent- for Blazblue. That game deserved to sell well- hopefully Continum Shift does even better.

That doesn't register as a bomba for Namco, the second it is shipped, Namco has already made its revenue.

Will be 1,000,001 copies when I finally get off my ass and head to the game store later this afternoon. Friend brought it over last nite, and I had a blast... didn't even realize it was out this past week till he mentioned it :P

+2 for me. Bought both versions. The nice pricepoint should help sales remain brisk. It's weird seeing SF4 vanilla being only ten dollars cheaper. I see stacks of vanilla at BestBuy, waiting for some sucker to buy them

Same here, all my IRL friends play on PS3, and my 'net friends play 360. Good thing I already had sticks for both or this would have been an expensive month for me!

If Capcom makes another SF4, or a Street Fighter 5, they have to bring back the best Street Fighter character ever created, Oro.

which doesn't surprise me, considering how many unsold copies i see at retail stores.

Yes, I see many unsold copies of Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 in stores as well. Your point?

I don't know why everyone is comparing sales between the 2 games anyway? Can we all at least be happy about the revival of fighting games with seeing both games do relatively well in this market saturated with shmups?

For what it's worth, Capcom's forecast was 1.1 million for SSFIV.

Tekken 6, Tekken 6. I assume this game will sell good, because of the price tag. But as stated, Tekken 6 shipped a shitload, and look how that turned out.

How much did it sell anyway? I have no clue why it sold like it did. Every Tekken has sold a lot and now it's even multiplatform... what happened?
