Surprisingly strong launch lineups this year, don't you think?

I thought The Witness was a launch game for some reason, hmm. Neither line up looks very good to me, just not interested in these types of games. Once Transistor, Destiny, Second Son hit early next year, I'll probably jump in.

Those lists are pretty atrocious for my gaming sensibilities. I preordered a ps4 but not one of those games interests me. Sigh.

At first glance, it looks like the majority of games will also be available on older machines. And exclusive content such as Ryse and Killer Instinct didn't really leave a good impression at E3.

Quite the contraire. KI is getting most positive reviews inside the FGC and other places. You should check the thread here to see for yourself.

There's nothing in either list I would play, except MAYBE Assassin's Creed IV and that's coming out for 360 (and Wii U).

Generally, it takes a year or two for Microsoft or Sony systems to have software I'm interested in.

Quite the opposite. PS4 has such a bad launch lineup that I'm probably buying more Wii U games than PS4 this fall. Sony blew their load of good stuff in 2013 on the old PS3 :/

Yeah I decided to skip PS4 at launch since the launch line up is so poor. Ill be more than satisfied with my WiiU/360 this holiday season. WiiU has a surprisingly strong line up from here 'till Christmas.

Not having the real money auction house should make it the definitive version. I'll probably check it out first time there is any sort of sale for it.

Oh damn, I didn't realize the RMAH is out. That would make it 100x better. Plus everyone would be starting out brand new so the economy wouldn't be fucked.

Dammit, now I'm probably going to get it. lol

1. The Wii U had the advantage of some of its user base only having Wiis, which meant cross-gen games were a bigger incentive

2. This list is twice as big as either upcoming console.

3. All of the ports had new features over other versions due to the gamepad or bonus/extra content from the other versions.

4. The Wii U launch had all of this and was still not great...and these upcoming launches are even worse.
Year old ports at full price with worse performance and graphics aren't a bigger incentive.

Ehhh. Like a lot of people, I could play most of the games listed on my PC. I still think I'm gonna get a PS4 at launch just because it would probably be a better investment than upgrading my PC, but at the same time I could just do neither. I suppose I'll end up getting BF4, Killzone, Driveclub, Watch_Dogs, and maybe CoD to play with a buddy or two anyways, though. Someone else mentioned that there's a strong lack of Japanese titles available. I totally agree. A couple of those would really spice up both consoles' lineups.

Edit: Aren't Warframe and PlanetSide 2 free to play? I'll probably end up downloading those day one just for kicks.

Looks like one of the best launches in recent memory.

Between launch and Christmas Ill probably get watchdogs, battlefield, call of duty, assassins creed, madden and killzone. And diablo? I figured that wouldn't be out for a little while on ps4. Do we have confirmation?

Compared to the 360 launch of pgr3, call of duty and perfect dark (bleh)

On Xbox I got halo and munch.

PS2 I got tekken tag (lol)

Looks like a great launch to me.

It's easy to say "hey a lot of those games will be on current gen anyway" but I'm willing to bet a lot of the current gen versions will be horrible.

Also, despite me getting a PS4, XBOne clearly has the better exclusive lineup.

I didn't know that Infamous wasn't a launch title. I'm not sure if I'll buy the PS4 with a couple titles and wait for the games or just sell my launch unit for profit and get it later. It seems like that will be an option this time around...

Considering most of those games will be launching on current gen hardware, not really that strong how many of those games are coming gen only?

But we all know Last Guardian is going to make it all worth it...

just one sec. I'm getting a phone call. brb.

I wonder if there will be any downloadable titles at launch too (stuff not available retail).

Regardless, a new shiny console + Killzone 4 will make me one happy camper. Add to that amazing multi plats like BF4, CoD, Assassins Creed ... honestly I'm not sure what folks who aren't happy with the lineups want.

The only really gaping hole is a lack of RPG's.

Yep, strong launch lineups for both. There doesn't need to be 10 games that fit my specific tastes for me to recognize the strength of these lists. Far better than the 360 or PS3 launches.

I can't say I'm really impressed. Probably gonna hold out for a bit on a new console.

really looking forward to the launch lineup. Super excited for DriveClub, Watch Dogs, and Killzone: Shadow Fall. Will probably go halfsies on AC4 with a friend, and if I get bored before Destiny and The Division release, I might get Battlefield 4.

I'm purchasing a PS4 for the games that follow in 2014. There's nothing at launch that interests me enough to buy. It looks like I'll be spending time with the UI/internal features of the PS4 before any games. :(

inFamous, which is supposedly released in February, will likely be my first PS4 title. I'm really surprised to see a lack of Japanese developed games for the PS4 launch. We usually have at least 1-2 to choose from.

Removing the games that I can play on hardware I already own (PC, Wii U, 360, PS3)

PS4
  • DriveClub
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack

XBONE
  • Dead Rising 3
  • Forza Motorsport 5
  • Killer Instinct
  • Kinect Sports Rivals
  • Ryse: Son of Rome

Dead Rising 3 aside, both those line-ups are extremely lacklustre in my eyes. I'm not complaining though because it means I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything by not buying into these consoles at launch.

What is important is the lineup in March and April and May.

From the look of things they are going to be good. So yay!

I agree with this. I think the new gen is going to have problems because there isn't a next gen exclusive that I want and as was already stated, you can play all of those big 3rd party games on PS360. Even fucking Titanfall is on 360. Not exactly a vote of confidence from EA and Respawn.

I am getting a PS4 but it won't be for Killzone or Driveclub. IF I were to get an Xbone I wouldn't be getting any of their launch titles either.

Give it time. 1 year would be my guess.

And don't make up quotes.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/19/g...-for-consideration-says-rockstars-dan-houser/

Some other people talk about the limitations of the [current] hardware. We don’t feel there are that many limitations. We feel we can do some very impressive stuff and do it for a large audience. This felt like the way… There’ll be a much larger audience on PS3 than there will be on PS4.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/14/why-grand-theft-auto-5-is-sticking-to-current-gen-systems/

Rockstar is a content company, not a hardware company," Houser says. "We use the technology we have to create content, and we try not to let ourselves get beholden to the hardware. The fact that hardware's so mature right now is exactly why we're able to go on to the next level. GTA 4 was our first attempt at a new platform and HD visuals, so the first part of development was seriously difficult. Now we know what the hardware's capable of, so it's become a lot easier to move things along and a lot more fun, too.

I heard my original quote somewhere, must of been made up by the press or I just cant find it.

and next time a please would be nice, I dont take orders from you, so dont bark orders at me please.

For PS4 we have:

  • [*]Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
    [*]Battlefield 4
    [*]Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • DC Universe Online
  • Diablo 3
    [*]DriveClub
  • FIFA 14
  • Just Dance 2014
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Madden NFL 25
  • NBA 2K14
  • NBA Live 14
    [*]PlanetSide 2
  • Skylanders: Swap Force Vicarious Visions
    [*]Warframe
    [*]Watch Dogs
I mean, that's quite a bit of quality games for each console. What do you guys think? Best launch lineup? There's a triple shooter barrage on the PS4, but still, there seems to be something for everybody, except for RPG fans, but has there ever been a great RPG come out on a console's launch before?

A lot of damn good games lined up...

I agree. Thanks to 3rd parties anyway, if not I would probably have gotten Killzone (which looks okay for a launch game itself actually).

Bold is what I want to play and will probably buy, won't get them all at launch so they're enough to keep me busy for months. PlanetSide 2 and Warframe are F2P so I will try them out on the PS4, Driveclub PS+ edition comes with PS+ membership.

... Maybe FIFA some day.
