I can understand what Nintendo is trying to do here but when you have someone on your friend list that likes to spam messages to their entire list it in order to unlock features that should be available from the start it gets really annoying really fast. To the point I'm considering making my friend list shorter or just removing the damn program. Honestly I'd rather have have a pre-defined message communication system if only to be able to add players to the friend list that you meet in game.

So true. But most messages are pretty good, haven't encounter too much spam that wasted my time.

Hey gaf! I'm not really doing the Swapnote thing with you guys, I'm mostly doodling with the Penny Arcade forums, but I just figured out a pretty cool thing and I thought I would share it here.

The only problem is i can't put the jpg i want in the 3DS... i followed your instructions and used photoshop to create a picture, saved it as a .jpg with a proper name, yet the image doesn't appear in the library.
Anyone can help?

Just figured out I can save notes and not send them and still get messages from Nikki about unlocks. I only even figured out that because what Roto said (got me wondering if I could just save a note after it was written and just back out) as it the program gives the impression you have to send things and actually encourages it I think. Oh well. On the other topic I just rather have the ability to add people from games even if it came in exchange of having only limited communication with said people.

Anyway I think I'm done checking the program now. Removed the Notifications. Will just let the program show the small green ball and perhaps move it to another screen so I don't see it.
