Good point, but we're talking about an optional product that costs $24.99. I'm confident there's not a single Sony exec that's feverishly crunching the numbers at 3am, wondering if the $24.99 PS4 face plates are gaining market traction. It's a product born out of fan service and not fiscal needs; the limitation in available quantities is literally telling us this.

I hope we see more support for this and they dont go the way of the Gold Headset faceplates. I was really hoping for some cool customization options there but we got what....3 faceplates? And they cost a lot.

This just blew my mind. Had no idea these existed, went to check mine to see if they really do come off; lo and behold, the plastic over the ears actually does have a piece that pops off.

Technically they're not available separately, but yeah, it's like an extra $20 to have the customized faceplate.

I find it pretty funny that Sony comes out of the gate with a whopping two options "with more planned." They could've easily mocked up a couple dozen different styles. It seems that no third parties have put anything out there besides decals, really? This seems easily doable with a 3d printer right? I'm asking seriously because I'm in China with plenty of time to spare and access to engineering students...I've seen 3D printers in the library here.

I heard podcasts bash faceplates, too. Um, people have different opinions than others? I liked the 360 faceplates and like the idea for these PS4 'faceplaates'. Am I going to actually pay $20+ for one? I didn't buy any 360 ones and probably won't buy any for the PS4. But I still like the idea. So I'd probably put one on if it came free with some other purchase I made.

In anticipation of the UI themes in hopes they'd bring back the fireplace theme. Now here I am with an ironic PS4 that doesn't have the bow to wrap it all up.

So if you want my advice, don't get skins/face plates unless you want to be the coolest.
