Fuck a wall between Norway and Sweden, burn that bridge down to separate Denmark and Sweden again imo.

The "18% of Swedish people born abroad are from Finland" data is kinda skewed, the main reason behind that is the mass migration that happened in the 60s. It doesn't really represent current immigration patterns so you can sleep your nights safe and sound.
;)

Hahaha actually one of my friends dad is from that part of Sweden where they still speak Finnish. :)

Did my part in populating this cold dark country a month ago. :)

That's nice! In the U.S. a huge black cloud is hovering over the entire country.

You mean Trump?
So poetic... :) You should move to glorious Sweden.
plz dont

I paid 0$ for my degree here :)
Cheap healthcare, good public transport, internet service is top tier mostly, aaah

Don't have to go that far north, photo was taken to the west of Stockholm.

For someone at the very south of Sweden, Stockholm is 5+hours north of travel time.
But yea in Sweden as a whole its not far north.

Seeing the great show "Midnattssol" I got an interest in it a bit. There are some pretty big differences in this country in terms of whether. Only been up north to ski, never during the summer.

For someone at the very north, Stockholm is 15+ hours south.

Or 35 hours, when the train breaks down in the middle of nowhere in -40 C and has to be towed back to some remote village to get some warmth and fika.

Isn't 20 light hours a day also kind of annoying? Then again I guess you can always pull down the window shutters to sleep.
I love it, best time of the year. Doesn't give me sleeping troubles but probably does for some people.

To swedes: how is it with the "lack of sunlight" say in Stockholm? Is it really a big deal? I was in copenhagen in december (which is still more south than Stockholm, but more north than say Malmö) and didn't notice any difference to Austria. And is there a "recommended" time of the year to visit?
I live in Austria now and I do notice the difference. Keep in mind that it's not linear, so the farther north you go the quicker the light disappears. Austria isn't exactly bright during the winters either though. For me the difference is less in the hours of sunlight and more the quality of that light. In Stockholm in winter you need to turn on the lights indoor to read something even at noon because the sun just doesn't go very far above the horizon.

Please take back SkĂĄne, we're still uncapable of understanding them.
Practice on this

We're having clear skies and warm weather here in Sweden right now (and by "warm" I mean above 0°C). Congrats, country of mine!

Holy tits congrats Sweden

The US has the population of UK, Germany, France, Spain and Canada combined with a decent amount to spare.
Even here in a shitty state like Alabama there is over 4 million.

To be fair that is because how fricking big US is by land area. Population density in US (32/km^2) is way closer to Sweden (22/km^2) than to country like Germany (230/km^2).

Eh. Little over 0C is much worse than little under 0. All snow transforms to slush and it's not like there is much difference between -2 and +2 in terms of clothing you need.

I forget how few people there are in some countries. The population of Chicago and New York is more than Sweden.

Going to Iceland (just over 300k total) was an eye opener, especially once you get out of ReykjavĂk. You can drive for an hour and count the number of other humans you see on one hand.

Exactly. Amazing how people can't comprehend US is roughly the size of Europe. They seem to think one country means tens of millions by default or something.

Not only that you have Canada above you with just 35 million with a huge land mass but it's mostly not habitable. Sweden is the same. 10 million is quite large for the geography. Funny to see people bring up two regions of California and New York. These are ultimately two populated areas in a land mass comparable to Europe and don't even represent the US as a whole.

Europe is 600-700 million people while US is 300+ million.

England is a tiny place that could slot in the US land as a random state and dwarf every other region.

You want to bring up Cali, 38 million for 163k square miles, how about England 50k square miles and 55 million.

Sure, but then there are those days when it's something like -10 or -15, so after a period of that suddenly actually getting positive degrees Celsius feels warm and amazing af. But yeah, if there's snow on the ground and then you start getting positive temperatures it's gonna be awful for a while with all the slush and you'd just rather it stay cold lol.

I don't think the Danes will understand them either at this point, they're too far gone, their weird mixture of Swedish and Danish has evolved into its own beast entirely

Congrats to Sweden. Y'all have a pretty cool country, from what I've heard. I'd like to visit some day.

You know, this also puts things into perspective. The entire population of Sweden is equal to the population of North Carolina. I sometimes forget just how large each US state is relatively to many entire countries.

Size wise we're about the size of a US state, just a ton of space without people living, tons of forest and shitty cold places :P
