Switch owners two months later: How do you feel about playing with the Joy-Con grip?

For me they are really great controllers, probably they can stay on my top 3.
Perfectly comfortable, but i don't have big hands..

Playing like 95% of my time in tv mode with the grip.
I love it and at the reveal I wasn't sure if I want to play that way

I don't have a pro controller and after trying to use one at my friends house, it felt somehow strange

Not bad, not bad at all, with and without grip.

I bought a pad Pro just because I often take the Switch with me and of course I don't want to find out that my joycon are low on charge.

It's good actually. I've tiny hands though, I'm identical hand twins with my wife. It definitely took some time to adjust to the grip, but I think that was more because of the small buttons and the somewhat alien weight distribution than the size of the grip itself.

Now that I am adjusted, and while I have no doubt the pro controller is better, I'm actively not getting one because I Switch® a lot and I'd hate to have to constantly readjust myself to the size of the buttons.

Expected it to be really bad, was pleasantly surprised.

Not as good as xbox360 pad I use on pc, but cant say i notice it as good or bad so it obviously feels fine.

It's perfectly fine when I use it, but the thing is... I barely do, because I have the Pro Controller. It is still nice to have for multiplayer though.

I fucking adore the grip. I don't know why, but it just *feels* good in my hands, and I like how compact and light it is. The buttons are perfect for me too because of how clicky and responsive they are. Were it not for the disconnect issues it'd probably be my favourite controller.

It feels really good, only thing I don't like are the analog sticks, really too loosy for genres like FPS and such.

I used it once. It's OK, but the Pro controller is miles better. I'd rather use the Joy-Con by themselves if I can, even.

I use it quite rarely. It's mostly used by friends who come over who would be too freaked out using split joy cons.

Split joy cons have changed my life.

it's bad and i'd rather just use the joy-cons separately. its only useful function is to arrange them into something approaching a regular full controller that i can pass to a second player.

no need to be too harsh on it, it is what it is. but if the pro controller didn't exist and the joy-cons didn't split, the switch would have the worst regular controller for any home console since the n64.

I've never used it because I bought the pro controller at launch and like using the joy con on their own but some of these replies are making me want to try

I have literally never used it. It's in my box of old electronics and cables. Pro Controller or split style all day.

Once, but probably never again. The handlebars are too small, so fingers end up fighting for space against its back which isn't comfortable.

It's okay but gets uncomfortable for me after awhile, slightly too small.

Pro controller still isn't perfect for me but it's much better. The Joy-Con grip is relegated to Player 2 shenanigans most of the time.

They are great but I still prefer the Pro. For the people that say they're amazing if not for the disconnect issues- why not just get them fixed? I got mine back within 2 days of shipping them out.

Like I said in the other thread, it's a fallback nowhere near as comfortable and accurate as standard controllers, I found the buttons and stick to be too small and would often be inconveinenced with it.

Fine for me, though I've been meaning to try holding them separately. I did enjoy the Wiimote / nunchuck back in the day.

I find it to be quite bad, the second least comfortable way to play the switch (only option worse is a floating JoyCon in each hand). Pro controller is infinitely more comfortable, and if I'm playing in TV mode I can't think of any reason to use the grip over a pro controller. Kinda funny too since I think handheld mode is perfectly comfortable, but for some reason the spacing when placed in the grip doesn't work for me at all.

I've only really used the grip when playing Mario Kart with my siblings, since we rotate who can use the 2 pro controllers and who has to use the JoyCon grip, and I definitely play worse with it. Holding a JoyCon in each hand really hurts my carpal tunnel wrist so that isn't a better option either. I kind of wish I could understand how so many people find one in each hand so comfortable, since many people seem to swear by it, but it is really awful for me in many different respects.

Never used it. I play with a joy-con in each hand on TV mode or just handheld.
I just want split controllers now.

This is kind of demonstrative of Nintendo having nailed the options with the Switch.

You have people in this thread calling one controller method Jesus and the other Satan, and others saying the reverse.

It has three core options, all have all features, with little confusion, and everyone has something they like.

Still haven't bothered getting a pro controller and will probably just buy a second pair of joycons instead for local multiplayer.

I'm still not feeling the desire for the Pro Controller, I don't really have any major complaints about the joy-cons or the grip.

I have small hands. It's good for about 30 to an hour then it feels uncomfortable. The thumb sticks are too short and the buttons are too small. This is coming from someone who didn't want to buy a pro controller because of the price

I'm very happy with it, really comfortable to me, my only issue is the lack of a dpad but since I don't need it for the time being I'm ok.

Really hope a dpad joycon is a thing in the not too distant future though.

I'm happy with it. My only gripe is with the joy-cons. The sticks "travel" too short and feel a bit too flimsy...

Have no need for a pro controller yet

I used it once to try it out and haven't used it since. I do think the grip is perfectly fine and it's actually more comfortable than I was expecting, but I find the pro controller to be far superior, so I'm always using that in docked mode.

Right now the grip is sitting on a shelf and will wait patiently for anyone to come over for some local multiplayer.

It's absolutely fine. I've got pretty small hands for a guy so maybe that's a factor, but it is comfortable and feels like a decent controller for me. I don't see the value in a £60 Pro Controller when this works as well as it does. I'm sure it's better and comfier but not £60 comfier.... If it were £40 (and it seems like it should be around that) then I'd buy it, but right now I see no need!

It works way better than I ever thought it would, even though I prefer the Pro Controller and then split Joycons, it's still perfectly comfortable.

To my surprise, my GF actually prefers the Joycon grip to all other solutions and she doesn't have particularly small hands.

It's fine, I like keeping my hands in a comfortable position tho...

Separate joycons are the most comfortable controller method I've used, hands down (or up or wherever you want!).

I prefer the Pro Controller in every way, but the JoyCon Grip is surprisingly serviceable. I'd have no issue using it in a pinch, though I'd honestly prefer split JoyCon if I weren't using the Pro.
