Syberia 3 - release date (Dec 2016) and new video dev diary

I didn't even know they were making this. I can barely remember the story, but hey, I'll be there.

I loved the original games, mainly for the visuals, the atmosphere, the world, characters and the story. Syberia 2 rounded off the story nicely but apparently this is a totally new story. The transition to 3D seems to have gone quite well (i imagine the budget isn't all that big).

It remains to be seen if Syberia 3 can recapture the spirit of the first two games but i'll buy day one for sure depending on reviews.

Edit: seems they got a new voice actor for Kate? Seems a shame.

It looks more like Syberia 1 than 2, so I'm hyped.
Syberia was best when it was not actually in Syberia. The first one is one of my favorite adventure games ever, along with The Longest Journey.

I dunno, I actually liked Romansbourg and the Monastery, they had such a nice solitary feel to them. Also the latter part with the Youkol was quite fascinating. Forget it, the whole second game is great. It's just the ending that is a bit sudden.
Also, I'd be suprised if a large portion of Syberia 3 wasn't still among the Youkol in Syberia. ( The island, not Siberia,as a part of Russia)

So true!

My favorite thing about Syberia 1 was how empty and lonely the game world felt. It really drove home the feeling of journeying alone through this dream version of Europe. The sequel kind of lost some of that surreal feeling since there were so many NPCs to interact with.

Yes, I agree... and the second one had horrible puzzles too... Really did not like it nearly as much as the original (played them both on PS2).

I think it said somewhere that the voice acting was just a placeholder..

Honestly if they wanted to ditch the puzzles and make this into a straight 'walking simulator' that would be fine by me. What did it for me in Syberia was the atmosphere and story.

Why is Lara in this?

New Broken Sword, new Dreamfall, and now finally Syberia 3 is close to being finished. It's been a good generation for adventure games, from returning franchises, to new greats.

That's... debatable, at least with Dreamfall. Actually, will this be an actual adventure games, with puzzles and stuff or yet another not-telltale game with "choices" and "puzzles"?

Physical release? Surprising, given it's been 12 years since the previous game...

I guess it would be fun to be a casual gamer who walks to the store and unexpectedly spots a sequel to that adventure game he played 10 years ago. Oh, internet has spoiled the world and its surprises for us.

I am so excited for this.

Sybera I and 2 hold a special place for me, one of my favorite adventure game series.

The world of them was just so unique and memorable and the story was quite emotional and heartfelt.

I kept waiting and waiting on this game. Since Microids went under I lost all hope, then they came back and announced this yeaaaars ago and went off the radar, I thought it was never going to happen.

Let alone if it did happen I assumed it would be done on a shoe-string budget and look like one.

I certainly did NOT expect the game to look like this, full 3d, actual up-to-date looking, animations and (thank god) a good quick running animation. Branching dialogue trees, lots of interacting with the environment and puzzles.

I can't believe it.

First off, this is what Lara Croft looked like when Syberia came out:

Kate Walker looked like this:

So it's actually the other way around, the newer TR games look more like Kate Walker.

As far as the puzzles and things go, it's in the video. There's puzzles and now branching dialogue choices that (at least according to the gameinformer article) can impact the story.

Looks interesting. I've tried to play the old Syberia games, but the systems haven't aged well, even tho I was intrigued by the story.

I'll give this a try sometime in Jan perhaps.

Holy smokes, I had no idea this was a thing. I loved the first two games but it's been about 8 or so years since I played Syberia 2. I guess this gives me a good reason to play through them again.

I'm sure I remember a train with a robot driver, or was that Longest Journey? Lol, so long since I played these... Probably still got the disks somewhere

Yup, that's Oscar.

The new footage looks great and I'll be getting this day one without fail. I played through Syberia 1 & 2 recently on PS3 and boy they're still janky as hell. I'm hoping for a much improved control scheme this time around.

Apparently, the game has been delayed to first quarter of 2017. First Gravity Rush 2 and now this... it's a shame as i was looking forward to it.

That's a bummer.

Was really looking forward to playing this around the holidays.

Oh well. Take your time. Just glad to be getting another.

I actually have the first two on the regular XBox, but I've only played the first one for a couple of hours and have never played the second one!

Hopefully it won't become Q2 and so on....
The project seems to be a bit ambitious for the budget they have but I'm really looking forward to it.
