This quite an early investment. I would have expected a PS3 Taiko game before a WiiU one but ah, it's a rare scoop for the WiiU.
The first significant Wii U Japanese 3rd party game since DQX or possibly MH 3G HD.
Could sell decently (also becaus of the compatibility with the Wii drums)
Drum compatibility doesn't matter that much when you don't have a console compatibility. They still need to spend 26k for the console.
Playing this series at the arcade was one of the best gaming moments ever. Beating on the drum is just too fun (and tiring!).
I'm considering importing the Wii version (thanks hackers) but I worry that playing at home, without the ''real'' drum won't be nearly as fun. Is the drum controller any good?
Since the Wii U has problems with 3rd party games, there might be a chance that Nintendo will bring this one over, right?
I love pretending Taiko is the successor to Donkey Konga lol. XD
Who knows maybe Scamco will embrace localizing this due to the eShop. You can use the touchscreen as makeshift Taikos, right? So you don't really even need the peripherals to get a reasonably similar experience. I mean they localized Project X Zone for crying out loud, and that didn't do too badly, iirc. Anything's possible now.
Not at all, but it's better than nothing. I'm used to play on the classic controller by now, so i don't have much problems, but if you want the best experience, you should import the game with the drums. You can get it on amiami.Playing this series at the arcade was one of the best gaming moments ever. Beating on the drum is just too fun (and tiring!).

I see.I've tried just an old PS2 episode: they were good but not so much.
But I think that they improved the quality (and sensibility and stability) later on...
All the bundles with the controller are sold out. It's too bad because I really wanted to see how much they would charge for shipping... Play Asia wants ~120$ for the bundle and more than 50$ for the shipping. No thanks! Not at all, but it's better than nothing. I kind of doubt they would abandon the Wii U so quickly, let alone release the next game as a PS4 exclusive. I could see a PS3 and Wii U multiplatform release, though.I think it was just really convenient timing since the Wii accessory will work with it, if it tanks I bet they'll try to move the series to PS4 next year.

The Taiko games might be my favorite rhythm games of all time.
It really bums me out that they don't release them over here or when they release them on region locked consoles.
One screenshot:
So we not only have the first HD Taiko, but it's also the first 8th-gen console Taiko. lol
They could make the controller USB and ensure everyone that it will work on any console that has an USB port. Taiko home consoles releases have been yearly and I just don't see them releasing a PS4 game less than a year after its launch. They could do multi-plat, but it would still be with the PS4. The reason this is on Wii U and not PS3 is because we're at the end of the generation and it really doesn't make sense to make people buy an accessory for a PS3 version this late in the generation.
If you have a DS or PSP, give those versions a go. They don't feature up-to-the-minute anime/J-Pop etc songs, but that's really the only minor criticism!

Well they could also make a wireless controller and an USB dongle.I really doubt they want to go back to a setup that is wired to the console it-self at this point.

Right, but we don't know how well the PS4 will sell and, judging form the recent Sony conference, Japanese devs don't seem to hot on it. In comparison, PS3 has a large userbase and software still sells. But PS4 wouldn't require a dongle, making it cheaper for them.

I agree, those games were really fun and were what got me hooked onto the series.
I liked the PSP ones more since they were straight rhythm games without the extra modes that the DS versions had.
Makes me wish that Namco would release these games back on Sony hardware again. Still can't believe a full Taiko game never came on the PS3.
