Microsoft, you know what to do. 1st party needs to grow ASAP
The days of MS buying big 3rd party developers are over.
Says the guy that puts out one succesful IP every three to four years in one specific sand box genre? Besides this genre they make the bulk of thier money on NBA games. Their stock is dead water and they are next to go. Mark my words.
MS buys scraps, instant best first party.
The UFC franchise backfired on them. First game was great commercial success then they tried to follow it up with a yearly sequel which underperformed massively. They gave the last UFC game much more time but it went to sell even less.

Zelnick stated licensed properties -- something he has avoided in his career -- leaves publishers at the mercy of license holders. Even if a publisher does a great job on a property, it will have to renegotiate the license in a few years and the margins will decrease because it's being charged more money for a brand it built up in the space
At least Darksiders 2 will be out. Hopefully Vigil and Relic will survive.
A Darksiders game with an MS budget worthy of challenging Zelda for real?
yesplz
Doesn't that mean the Wii U version won't exist since Wii U isn't out in 6 months?

Yes lets alienate everyone that buys the games on pc and ps3 and soon Wii-u

Beyond Good & Evil already challenged Zelda. And won.
Sold like shit, but still.

I really hope if THQ goes down, Vigil gets picked up by someone. Recently started playing Darksiders and it's a fantastic game, would be a shame to see those guys out of work. What happens to the IP if THQ goes down and no one wants to pick it up?
I don't know about that. GTA5 alone will give them such a huge cash injection, I doubt they're going anywhere.

Lets say that your comment about the sandbox genre was true, you would STILL be wrong in your three to four years remark...
but then again, your comment on the "one specific sand box genre" isn't true so you are wrong on both accounts.
Theyre just porting it, which is easy. Ninetendo could probably publish it if need be.
so do you buy thq stock in hopes of it being bought?

OK, I forgot to add shooters and CIV. Still their buisness is unsustainable. Analyze their debt to equity ration. LOOk at their PE and their EPS. It's like they are about to die every quarter until a GTA type game is released.
Actually...it's not a bad idea. In a way, I wish Microsoft would offer to buy Vigil, Relic, and Volition--or just THQ all-together. It's not like it would be a lot of money, ha.
Bullsheeiit.
Game was good, but is massively overrated.
No company would buy THQ. If they wanted to do it, they already would have -- the company is dirt cheap and has a very low market cap.
No company is buying THQ because nobody wants to buy a sinking ship. Salvage a few of the parts once the ship has sunk? Sure.
One.You guys are aware of how many studios MS has bought, dissolved, or turned into Kinect peddlers, right?
This assumes a competing publisher doesn't pick up that talent first.Exactly why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?
One.
