To be honest, I was the same way when I came to Tales for the first time. But I stuck with it for an hour or two (this was back in the Tales of Vesperia days) and it "clicked" and was great from that point on.
I don't want to apologize for a game that I have no responsibility for but I will say that the systems at work in most Tales games are deep enough that they require some practice and immersion before the fun kicks in. For me, it's a worthwhile time investment but I can totally understand why someone else would feel differently.
I will also close with the fact that Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Graces are two of my favorite action J-RPG's and I enjoyed them both greatly once I got in to the groove of the combat.
Ah yeah, Vesperia and Graces both were amazing. Fun thing is, the two games have very different combat systems, yet both are incredibly deep and simply fun to play. I get definite Graces vibes from Berseria after this demo, so I hope it lives up to the promise better than Zestiria did.
We need a remaster of Tales of Vesperia, dammit Bandai Namco!
