Tales of Vesperia (360) screens

Looks like the game may be coming sooner than some expected. Warner Music Japan (the label to which theme singer Bonnie Pink belongs) is apparently planning a soundtrack release on August 20th (google cache of discstation leak) so the game should be out around that time.
I suppose they are waiting until TOS-R release is closer to reveal it but yeah, August mirroring Symphonia GC and Legendia. If its a main entry, you are either looking at August or December.

Since this one will be August, I bet the DS one will be December. Tales of the Genesis, Tales of the Nexus or Tales of Hearts that is. I know you know about this stuff Datschge, can Alfa System release another Tales in a year despite Phantasy Star Portable? I really hope they aren't trying again with Dimps...

Well, I don't follow Alfa System and don't know the staff list of PSp. On their website they state having only 50 employees and they still managed to develop Radiant Mythology, Innocent and the Destiny 2 PSP port all around the same time. So I'd say they are capable of doing multiple projects in parallel.

In the past I guessed Dimps may be involved in ToS-R, but considering how Tempest was publically deprecated even by Namco producers I'd expect Dimps not to get another project. (ToS-R sounds and looks like internal so far, but Yoshizumi stated before there wouldn't be any internal Namco team working on a Tales game atm...)

As for a possible game in December, Team Destiny is due for a new game this year. (And Team Symphonia is overdue, but I think their delay is caused by keeping the staff size the same while having more work to do on the new gen platform.)

What DS one? Innocence? Is that coming to NA? :O

God damn it why do you people keep reminding me of Innocence.

Whoa, I couldn't sleep and I was bored, so I decided to check how updated the new ratings database for videogames in Singapore is and look what i find!

If it's already cleared, it means the game has to be finished. Is the release sooner than we think?

One can hope. It means I have to buy a 360 soon.

Since the game is already done, I wonder what the odds are that they're actually holding it for a worldwide release in Aug. Thoughts?

I would like to think so. It hasn't been confirmed for EU yet has it? It wouldn't be the first time they've released a game worldwide simultaneously...

Didn't they do something similar with Eternal Sonata? I seem to remember the localized western version being done when the game was released in Japan in June, but Namco sat on it until September.

a birdie told me it's going to happen, or really close dates.

August sounds like a perfect month to do it, too.

No, a new Tales for the DS... by the trademarks, as Ichigo says, Tales of the Genesis, Tales of the Nexus or Tales of Hearts...

Oh, that's why Shinji Tamura says he's worked on (a) DS game(s) *shudder*

Today, I got a little birdie to confirm that the release date for ToV is scheduled for the first week of Aug in Japan and Asia. :D

Today that bird also told you if the ASIA version of Vesperia is region free?

It would be nice, I don't want to wait 2009 for the PAL release, kthx.

If thats so then that could mean Vesperia and IU both in the same month of september for NA?

It's unlikely. The Asia release, at least locally here, seems to be the Japanese version of the game distributed by a local distributor.

Don't be silly N-B and release it at the end of the year in USA/Europe at least. Don't go face to face with IU.

It wouldn't surprise me if NB was going worldwide release with the game. Dosn't that maximize their initial sales profit? Seems Japanese are going that route these days which make sense really. It's a gain for them and us.

Sept 2. That was already announced officially.

Nice, so it looks like a sweet RPG second half of 08 then:

ToV - August 19th
IU - September 2nd
Fable 2 - Fall 08
Fallout 3 - Fall 08

That will be at least a solid 4 months of gaming for me, to the exclusion of everything else that will be released this year.

It's not like this is the first major JRPG on the system, or even the second....

This will be the first with title name recognition though. A jrpg series that has sold on other systems. The 360 hasn't had that yet. Most have been breakout new franchises. Finally a jrpg with already a fanbase.

Maybe Lost Odyssey broke some barriers (In the US at least?) for future RPGs? Although Tales of Vesperia is not visually similar to Lost Odyssey.

The only place that Tales sells well is in Japan. And the last brand new console Tales game sold more copies than the total 360 installed base in Japan now. Don't expect much. :P

LO already sold over 300k in the US, it's definitely over 500k worldwide. We know JRPGs on the 360 can sell.

True. But there are still worldwide fans that will buy the game on the 360. The first time this has happened for the 360.

First time what has happened this generation? There's nothing that ToV is first at. There are less than 100k "worldwide fans" of Tales, judging from how much all the previous games sold in the US. :P

Maybe this time, things will be different. :)

Gamers have a huge buying margin this generation. Some may buckle and buy the game for this HD revolution in gaming.

Have to start saving for an X360 if that date is true.

I'm going to buy this game on day one, regardless of whether or not I have a 360 by that point.

Although I'll probably buy one during the holiday season. Combination of Jasper + Bundle + Price Drop + ToV puts me over the edge.
