Tales of Xillia set for Summer 2013

Tragic victim of fan death
According to an interview from 1UP during a Namco Bandai event last week, Tales of Xillia is set for a Summer 2013 release. While there's no official release announcement confirming this it sounds right. Additionally, according to Crunchyroll, NB is supposed to give another announcement on February 4th, which is possibly a trailer for Tales of Xillia. Additionally, from the articles that follow it seems the press were shown a trailer of the game which probably had the English voiceovers on them. Anyway, here are the compiled articles from various publications.

1UP Interview said:
At Namco-Bandai's recent event to promote Tales of Xillia's Summer 2013 release, I hopped on a demo station and within seconds adapted to the latest refinement of the series' Linear Motion Battle System, which has been providing a refreshingly action-based alternative to turn-based RPG battles since 1996. Really, the greatest strength of the Tales franchise has always been its engaging and satisfying enemy encounters, and the brief time I spent with Xillia's showed me that Namco-Bandai wouldn't be breaking this trend anytime soon.

EDIT: Thanks to ryuukan for pointing out, there was an additional article that Crunchyroll published and it says that the game is set for a Q1 release. Source is below.

Tales of Xillia is a PS3 exclusive, and is coming to North America in the first quarter of 2013, so... soon.

As Ninokuni bombs, Namdai trucks on.

Seriously, what the hell? I have this feeling Ni no Kuni is doing better than Xillia can ever hope to. (I am also looking forward to Xillia)

If you've been living under a rock, Ni no Kuni is pretty much surpassing everyone's expectations and NOT trending towards bombing.

Tales of Innocence and/or Tales of Hearts localization pls.

I'm fine with this. Just hope they don't make me import the LE from Europe again (I promised myself Graces would be the last one. Europe is just taking my money).

I'll be in for it day 1.

Edit: @ Ultros- I don't think Namco would be that kind or if they are 'ha, no NA'.

America and EU or just the former? Either way I'd say that's an ideal time for the game to release. Should have little competition from what we know

I feel like I'm in bizarro world when it comes to Namco right now.

They're really localizing Project X Zone?
They're not taking for-effing-ever to localize Tales of Xillia?
They have an announcement?

Ehhhhhh?

I fully expect tomorrow to sign onto GAF and find all these topics gone and nobody remembers them

NICE. Pretty good timing. At least hopefully in the summer they won't have to deal with any big competition.

This is great news. Now, if only One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 was seeing a retail release, and also a Vita release.

Whoa, FIRST QUARTER, not summer? It's like the sparse JRPG selection of last year is being made up for in spades... and it wasn't even that bad of a year!

EDIT: Actually it's more like the empty second half is beind made up for... which probably means the second half of this year will be relatively empty too. I blame the likes of CoD for razing the final quarter.

Actually, that's not bad. I'll finally have a new RPG for that summer slump for once.

Obviously the sooner the better, but I really can't complain about the timing.

I'm not sure which is more correct but I'm going to assume the Summer 2013 is more credible and likely. While Crunchyroll has impressions of the game at the event, 1UP has had direct contact with Baba and most likely got the correct timeframe for the game.

On the other hand they could be talking about first quarter fiscal so... yeah. Regardless, I'm predicting a April/May release date with a trailer coming out really soon.

When I searched it, it didn't show up. Who knows.

Someone clear up this first quarter/third quarter ambiguity, please.

You mean second quarter, right?

I find it weird that none of the other previews mention the summer 2013 release window.

I'm wondering if 1UP accidently let the release window slip, or if it was a simple typo. I remember writing a ToX piece once where I wrote "early 2013." I had thought that was the release window for some reason, but quickly realized there wasn't a confirmed time frame outside of the general 2013 window and fixed it. So I guess the same can go for Crunchyroll and their Q1 mention. (Clearly, one of the two are wrong.)

I went ahead and asked the writer of the 1UP piece on Twitter if he can confirm the summer window.

First fiscal quarter would make sense. And to be honest it'd be for the best, for games period this quarter is way too crowded right now, gotta space it out.

They most likely let it slip honestly. Since they were shown a trailer, I assume the release date/window was most likely on there but the trailer isn't available to the public. We'll see how things go ahead.

Anyway, thanks for looking this up. I tweeted the Tales twitter account as well to confirm.

That bit is always so ambiguous because different countries have different definitions of FY. :lol I dunno, it seems like it'd be better to release between the summer lull.

You planning on playing the English version when you get it? Because I'm... not (er, playing it when I buy it). >.>

6-7 more months for this game? What is the holdup? I think May would be a more attractive release window to give Ni No Kuni three months to grow.

I really wanted to get this but my friends tell me that Xillia isn't that great and not worth it. Im also hesitant because I was let down by Tales of Graces f.

Man, Namco is being awesome. What's next? Tales of Vesperia PS3 localization?

Ehhhhhh?

Game came out in Sept. 2011 in Japan. Close to 2 years qualifies as foreffingever to me, except they didn't announce it a year and 2 months in advance.

So is it summer or first quarter? I guess we'll have to wait till Feb. 4th to find out. May is what I'm hoping for.

Color me excited; now that I think about it, I think 2013 is going to be a year where I spend the most amount of money for gaming software...

Can Capcom join them in the bizarro realm so I can get an Ultimate Marvel update and a real game for Megaman's 25th? And Square Enix too so I can play Bravely Default. Anyway... looking forward to the trailer. Also releasing it in summer much like Symphonia. Could we expect some actual advertising this time around? So far they aren't releasing it near a high profile game so that's a good start.

And here I was just thinking with the new pictures and talk recently, how I've been tired of little tidbits and would like an actual release schedule.

Ordering it literally the first day it can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
