Target will be selling real Nuka-Cola Quantum for Fallout 4's launch

Dammit, looks like it's sold out in my area. I was planning on buying one for my girlfriend Tristana. I'm going to have to see if the Target in Demacia sells any.

I cannot believe how much this sold out and so quickly. Was really hoping for a Mountain Dew Master Chief type of availability.

I went yesterday afternoon thinking it wouldn't be difficult to get...I asked an employee if they had it, and he said they sold out as soon as they opened. There were people actually waiting for the store to open to get it.

It’s no surprise then that Target’s website seems to indicate that the soda is completely sold out in many of the store’s locations and unavailable for online shipping. The answer to this may surprise you – according to redditor /u/HellraiserGN, Target employees may be buying the soda to re-sell on eBay as it’s bound to become a valuable collector’s item.

Another redditor, /u/viiiktor456 reported that they arrived at Target as soon as it opened and saw someone pick up every case of Nuka Cola available. It seems some stores may not have anticipated putting a cap on purchases of the soda, although /u/AckAttack6710 confirmed that at least one store limited customers to two per person and /u/Xombin reported that their store only allowed one per person. Target has not commented on whether or not there was a storewide policy to curb the problem.

My kid really wanted this but of course people have to buy it to resell it...like everything else that's rare these days. Assholes.

not sure if its regional or not, but you can buy this drink for about $1.50 without the fallout branding at a krogers or meijers , just make sure its the berry lemonade flavor. If your kid just wanted to drink it that is.

$100 a bottle ? what the fuck is wrong with people ?

I've seen auctions go up to $50+.. i'd blame both parties on this(scalpers more so though)

Appears that Target removed the item listing from their website. I guess there are no plans for future shipments anytime soon. Hopefully the demand will either make Jones or some other company put some effort in a proper version. I mean we all have to admit this was pretty lazy on all accounts

Once again, companies producing way too few quantities of a product letting scalpers fuck over people. Eventually companies are going to learn to make more than an arbitrary low ass number of something that is clearly in demand. People need to be fired for this.

P.S. i really dont have much interest in the product, but the continued ignorance and stupidity of companies is staggering to me.

Well, letting excess unwanted stock sit on shelves isn't very good for them either. Ideally they'd see they low balled and produce more, but sometimes they have their heads in the sand over this stuff when it's supposed to be limited.

welp, that was annoying as fuck. Guy seems like an asshole. Why 7 bottles...AND he drank one warm. He even said there wasnt enough for everyone there in line

He reviews all kind of junk food, and often (always?) in his car. The 7 he had were pre-ordered as others have mentioned.

So it's just the label that people are after? Seems like a lame collector's item imo. They should have at least made a new flavor or put a cool bottle cap on it.

Someone might as well just scan the label and put it online so people can just tape it on their normal bottles.

They sold out of a limited edition item. I would think they wouldn't want to make large shipments or it loses value and may be left on shelves. I don't think they learned the lessons you hoped for.

Jones Soda posted this on their FB this morning:

"Following all your posts on Nuka Cola. Nuka Cola was developed to be an exclusive limited edition item. While we’re very excited by the response to the program, we recognize that the demand far exceeded everyone’s expectations, and we will be working closely with everyone involved to try and expand the program and bring you more. ‪#‎Nuka4Everyone‬"

From this thread they underestimated it a lot. When shit is selling out 30 minutes after opening there's a problem.

I'd blame the promotion really. How fucking stupid to have just a case of these sent to stores. It's a simple relabeled Jones soda flavor with nothing else special about it. They should have had plenty of these.

Managed to get one after work. There were 11 people standing outside Target just for this and I was able to grab the last one. My Target store was at least smart enough to make it 1 per customer. Sucks for everyone who had their local Target's shipment taken by one person.

Have to say it was quite hilarious seeing these people run to where the beverages are only to see nothing there.

Hell, if anything, someone should just slap the label up online so people can print it out and cover the regular Jones sodas lol.

I contacted Jones from their website asking if they will continue producing Nuka Cola. Their response:

Thanks for the note and sorry for any issues.

The program was purposely developed by Target to be a very exclusive limited edition program. Jones is very excited by the success of the program, and will be working closely with Target should they decide to expand the program.

We hope to have an update soon!

Being limited on a hot holiday game like this seems dumb. Especially when it's something that could easily be mass produced. I know I'd have bought probably 12+ of these with the intention of drinking all but maybe one. (yes I know I can get the same flavor but the related packaging would actually provide me with motivation to purchase)

I still don't understand the "value". Wouldn't it take a few seconds for someone to remove the strip on the bottle and upload a high res scan so everyone could just print their own? The bottle itself is not unique. I guess since it is in a bottle technically you wouldn't have to drain the bottle like you do cans.

Next week. Same price or free with Fallout 4 or Season pass purchase.

Hrm... maybe I'll pick up a second bottle so I can drink it while playing (and keep the empty bottle as well).

Yeah, I already have one but I had wanted to buy two, one to drink while I played and one for display. My Target was one of the better handled ones so they limited it to one per person until everyone in line had a chance at one (and you had to get back in line and by the time I bought my one the amount of people in line again was the amount they had in stock so I didn't bother). I do appreciate the manager at that one seemed to realize it would be a wanted commodity and had a plan to make things more fair. Especially at hearing some true horror stories on the 'net about other Targets. But then again a few of the people in line were employees so maybe that target just wasn't as naive about how much people wanted them.
