Team Fortress 2 Next Monday Countdown Thread...well, dammit.

Peggle Extreme is the same game, just with Orange Box themed backgrounds and some sounds. It wouldn't really be worth it as a individual purchase. It's a nice extra though.

I really want to pre-purchase... but I already have HL2 and Episode One, so it feels like I'm wasting money.

I don't know what to do. :(

I'm getting the contents of the Black Box regardless, and I think I know someone who needs a copy of HL2/EP1 so I can give the codes away to them. Peggle Extreme is just an awesome bonus for fans of Peggle and Half Life 2-an audience with somewhat scary overlap!

Fuck it. I never bought Episode One, so unless the Black Box (if it's ever even offered) is $35 or less, I end up saving money. I don't think I'm going to bother getting the Orange Box on 360 now, even if I do have a bunch of friends that have been bothering me to get it when it comes out.

I am there with you, $45 for all of the games and I don't own Episode One. I may have to get some money somehow.

I really can't imagine playing TF on xbox360. I mean...I love playing games like Halo and Bioshock on it...but TF is a different beast.

I also never got episode one, so its not that bad of a deal, I get a 2nd copy of hl2 to give away.

Done and done. I didn't feel bad about getting a copy of HL2 and Episode 1 to give away, because the way the exchange rate is at the moment I'm only paying around half the cost of a regular full price title anyway. I'm going to get absolutely destroyed in the beta; the last game I played online for anything more than an hour or two was the original TF.

There is additional tax here in Holland. Just go through the purchase menus and you'll see what amount is going to be quoted to you

The Stealth Fox: you supposedly receive keys you can distribute to your friends. They need to register those to their Steam account

That was the price before it got pulled... Whether it's still the same price (or is going to be offered) remains to be seen. Probably after the official release

Is there tax on purchases through Steam? I have to get a Visa gift card to buy it online but I need to get the right amount of money on it.

There probably is if you live in the state of Washington. I live in NC and didn't pay any tax for Bioshock with a $50 visa gift card I had stashed away in April just for that purpose.

Yea, I totally agree. Especially after watching that gameplay video on the 360...it looked painful.

Yup. I'm in Redmond, WA.

Item Price: $2.50 USD
Sales Tax: $0.22 USD
Total: $2.72 USD
Order Description: Geometry Wars

So $49 of your US dollars would be about £24 pounds to me a pittance if am being honest.

But i've already got Half Life 2 and half an hour ago i just completed Episode 1. :lol

The difference between the OrangeBox (with discount) and the rumoured BlackBox amounts to €4,35 including the 19% sales tax here in Holland (about $6).

So that means I have to sell HL2 & HL2:E1 & Peggle for €5,00

Heh.

Argh, this sucks. I don't know if I want this for the 360, or PC.

Most of my gaming friends will get it for the 360, but man.. I want mods and stuff too.

Should I just suck it up and get it for the 360, and in a few months grab the black box (That only has portal, TF2 and Ep 2, correct?) later? I have HL2 and Ep 1 on the PC already.

You need new gaming friends--all there is to it.

Hmm, where are those keys to share with someone else though? No prompt or any mention of it after purchasing
Their won't be if you bought it online.

Hell, as far as I know, there'll be only one serial number inside the Orange Box at retail.

I can still pick up EP1 for $10. So I'll wait and see.

You're kidding right?

While a nice thing to do, the decision doesn't really make any sense. If anyone should have been given a beta for preordering the Orange Box, it should have been 360 and PS3 owners and if they were only going to give the beta to PC owners, why didn't they include the beta with the Black Box? (I know why; I'm just saying, from a consumer standpoint, these weren't great decisions for implementing a cool reward.)

oh fuck yes i'm buying this when i get home
I was definately gonna get ep2 and tf2 alacarte but shit to me this is like getting portal for 5 bucks, with beta access and gifts to get my buddies into pc gaming. I really appreciate how Valve is pushing value when the marketplace at large seems to be going in the opposite direction

..... I'll most likely buy the 360 version too

I <3 Valve

Think of this less as "pay again for HL2 and Episode 1" and more along the lines of "Get Team Fortress 2/Portals/Episode 2 for $45 and get FREE Peggle Extreme, Half-Life 2, and Episode 1". Which is probably what they were going to charge for it anyway.

Also, sure you know someone, even if not in person, that could use a copy of Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. The system requirements are pretty meager and the games are great, and make a perfect gift for a friend.
