Weapons will be randomly fired for you.

They want to expand on the unlocks/drops technology because it is so popular.

I'm not sure why some people hate hoodoo and pipeline so much, but one thing I have noticed is that all three of them have areas with tunnels in some maps, and a stalemate very often happens there. Or in pipeline's case, you play that part of the map for like 15 minutes. :lol

I thought this was the case also. I've seen matches where one cart is significantly ahead of the other on pipeline 3rd stage.

edit: totally unrelated but I'm joining in on the ambassador hate. Although I notice headshots get "mini crit" which is the same as jarate's effect, so it doesn't seem like it's working properly. Maybe if they fix it so the headshot crits are real full-on crits, it'll be good. Although I'm not sure I get why it does less damage going by the description.

Yep yep. The description they gave with it's initial announcement sounds almost nothing like what it actually is, and the mini-crit is barely more damage than a normal revolver shot at close range due to the damage reduction. Combine that with the fact that if you want to aim it accurately, you have to fire even SLOWER, and you've got a damn lousy gun all around.
 
I have played this game 38 hours in the last four days, and I have barely any unlocks. I mainly get the stuff I already had prior to this update.

The only new things I have gotten was a Fro for the demo man, the new scout bat (and BALL!), and the ambassador. Thats it. Can't even find an idle server because I get booted from them all or they are PW protected.

What's the point of cloak and dagger now, then? I thought the spy update teaser described permanent invisibility as the whole point, with reduced mobility as the downside.

*edit* Trax416, a bunch of idle servers have started making it where you get booted if you join a team. Just join the server and sit in spec instead. I kinda feel like people get items faster if they're "ingame" rather than in spectator, but it still works in spectator.

Yeah just read that, I think the gun required full crits, 35% boost wasn't doing much, I could land two headshots in a row and cause no threat to the enemy.

-The Dead Ringer now fully drains the cloak meter, even if the Spy leaves cloak early

-Fixed Spy disguise menu not being visible in HUD minimal mode

Server log improvements:

-Added "player_extinguish" event for servers to log when a Pyro extinguishes flame with the airburst

-Fixed kill descriptions for Force-A-Nature & Sandman, so server logs can distinguish them

-Identified feign deaths in the events sent to server logs

-Fixed server crash related to the Jarate

They fixed the Dead Ringer, not the Cloak and Dagger.
 
Haha, disinformation by somebody in the thread. Thank goodness. So funny that they nerfed the ambassador and then buffed it again. They also nerfed dead ringer and I wasn't even good at using it, wow. :( It'll be much harder to survive with it now, especially since you have to basically use the full charge to even GET behind enemy lines.

*edit* Botolf, on my way home now. I should be online in 30 minutes or so, might eat first.
 
the update news right after the update downloaded said Cloak and Dagger for me, too, so it's Valve's fault. but I find it funny like 5 minutes after saying "ambassador needs to do full crits on headshot" they actually fix it so it does that.

I just started getting used to the Spy class and abused the shit out of Dead Ringer. Party's over.

Blinking in and out of cloak was useful for getting rid of flames.

I didn't know that. Finally got a spy unlock yesterday and it was the gun. Was playing around with it a bit, but was surprised how weak it was.

Oh yeah, today I got the Force-a-Nature, which now means I have every single unlock but the Huntsman. Oh well.

Playing FAN Scout is hard for me anyway as I have a problem weaving in, firing, and weaving out. One of the three parts always gets screwed up; get hit at the beginning and have to retreat, get in but spin my mouse too fast and miss completely, on the way out I end up dead. Scattergun for me for now.

Sandman's great. My accuracy with that thing was already good, and getting better (although I use it mostly in close combat as a retreating tool), but without something like the FAN to push them around a corner, getting close without a teammate is bad news still.

I prefer Bonk! over the pistol, if only because I like to use it to distract sentry fire. Only problem is, I can never coordinate with anyone in order to do it. Either they're trying to edge it before I get there, or they're just ignoring me and waiting for a medic/healthpack. Scouts are considered too solo only.

I don't know the steam IDs of you guys. In 40 minutes I'll be in the GAF chat. My avatar and displayed name is the same as on GAF.

Only if BLU wins one round, and RED wins the other. If one team wins both of the first two parts they start on the flat part past the first incline instead of on the ground.
I can only assume you haven't seen the other team win there because the other team has generally been better, but I've seen the team utterly dominated on the first two stages score an easy win on 3 and take the match.
Yes, of course it was a free weekend, but the headstart compounds things, you have to stop them from capping before you can even start capping your own, and by then they've respawned. More than half the team being snipers or spies doesn't help matters.

The gun is 15 or 20% weaker then the default magnum and mini crits do 35% extra damage, so the overall head shot damage was not much better then a regular magnums overall damage to a player. I guess it's still leathel in pro player's hands but with full crit now that extra head shot damage is much better.
 
Good that they fixed the Dead Ringer, it was pretty easy to "tank" spy and just right click before you got hit, uncloak immediately, then get ready for another right click.

Still, now I REALLY want the cloak and dagger.

Okay, so cloak and dagger on 2fort was a terrible idea. Pyros on the bridge, pyros upstairs, pyros in the sewers, pyros in the water. No matter where you crouch while invisible, soldiers will fire random rockets at all the walls and hit you. :lol It was practically impossible to even get to the other fort while invisible.

Also, it seems like you're visible while walking or crouch-walking with cloak and dagger, even if it's fully charged. Or are you only visible if you don't crouch-walk? I also learned what should have been obvious, that changing your disguise makes you visible while cloaked.

That isn't true. Changing disguise when cloaked is not visible to the other team.

cloak and dagger is full cloak until it's out of charge then u are partially visible.
 
Well, you can see teammates changes disguises and you can see them this half-visible color when they run...and I'm almost CERTAIN I've been shot several times that way, but maybe it is truly silent and invisible.
 
I'm pretty sure that is for your teams eyes only.

If u disguise then cloak the disguise cloud is visible for a few seconds to all. If you cloak then disguise only your team sees anything.

You should check how many are on achievement_idle. :P I saw one other person besides me saying they'd gotten all the items. Other people are still working to get their first few...

The FAN confuses me.

You'd think that you'd get the kick-back boost when you fire it (as this is how it would work in reality), but it actually happens only once the blast hits something.

The delay just feels kind of weird.

And yeah. I was thinking it was because I was terrible spy, but I switched like 5 minutes in to medic and helped power through a few ubers. But then for like an hour they just pounded on our base. Still, I ended up liking it, but I guess it's because I read Botolf's viewpoint the other day and adopted it. And everyone talked. And I made a few new friends.

Kickback on you.
It makes perfect sense that kickback on the enemy happens when you hit them. If the kickback is according to newton's third law, though, the kickback on you should happen when fired, rather than when the projectile hits the surface you're firing at.

Though maybe it was lag or something like that causing it. I haven't had it for very long. My luck with unlocks has been improving. Since the update I have found:
5 - Blutsaugers
3 - Ubersaws
2 - Flare Guns
1 - Bonk Energy Drink
1 - Force-a-Nature
1 - Sandvich
1 - Natasha
1 - Dead Ringer

After about 50 hours, I finally found a Huntsman. It's such an amazingly fun weapon to use. I still need to get used to it though. I can't play as well as I do with the sniper rifle right now.
