Team Fortress 2 Sniper Update Info, Pyro Megaton

The Blog said:
Hello to you! My name is Stavros. I am now Vice President of Valve game company! Is very exciting! But much work. I am now head programmer, animator and game designer, plus I am washing Robin's clothes. (So many beef stains!)

But Robin is busy man, so I not mind. He is Big Valve President now and decide not to fire me. He sit on Valve President Yoga Ball and say "I am need someone to shoot at with BB gun, Stavros." Then he does! Ow! But is all in good funs. (Except when I am trying to return the funs, then Robin say he kill me.)

Today is Day 6 of Spy Update. Please to pursue this link to Ambassador, a new revolver for Spy. Hooray!

Now to shoe Robin's horse. Robin enjoy riding through office some times to chase Stavros.
:lol :lol :lol

I always felt the default spy gun could use a litle more kick, despite it shooting out sentrys with ease already :D

Better accuracy is a good enough reason to use that gun for me.

Okay, RAAAAAGE. Yet another awesome spy upgrade to make them more overpowered. I'm expecting something exceptionally crappy for the sniper. :'( Any guesses? Maybe a knife that doesn't do crits, but does +5 damage against pyros? Perhaps a hat that takes 5% damage off of headshots?

And yes, the spy pistol is already quite powerful. I've died in 2-3 shots from a spy while I was toasting him as a pyro before. He died right afterwards, but it was close...

Depending on how long the cool-down is it might not be too bad.

I suck so bad that I won't have this weapon for a loooong time. But I'll practice, and with time, I'll master the Spy so that I can torment you for all eternity.

Or perhaps I'll just countersnipe you with it. Y'know, for the irony.

The worst part is, this and that watch basically make the Commando class from Battlefield Heroes. While I love playing that class in that game, I guess I didn't want the spy to become that...or else I'll just have to start playing nothing but spy.

Imagine it -- you run out somewhere, stand still so you have permanent invisibility, and then headshot someone halfway across the map (or however long the range is). Then you either instantly recloak for more permanent invisibility, depending on how the watch works, or you disguise/cloak/run away, to camp somewhere else. The person who shot you might not even get to see where you're going if you can recloak.

Exactly. Presuming that will work, they've taken the issue they've talked about trying to fix with the Sniper, and just given it to the Spy doubly. The damage will probably be a little lower, and I doubt Spies will get headshot crits, but they will get random normal crits with this gun, nothing says they won't.

Edit: Nah, they have to have thought it out better than that. The reload time between shots will probably be something equivalent to three mid-timed Sniper shots or something ridiculous. Like you know a Spy has one shot, then two or three seconds of vunerability.

Spy is already over-powered from the ammo pickup from before, and just made easier by the stabbing 'fix', the new spy stuff sounds more like upgrades than side-grades as well.

And now the thread is taking out just like all the other TF2 update threads.

wat?

Also, the idea of a spy out sniping a sniper is ridiculous. As in, it's not going to happen.

Yes, but at least I admit it. :p The funny thing was, all the spy fans were whining when they announced the shield -- a one-use shield that slows down an already slow sniper, and doesn't even kill the spy. And then the spy got lots of upgrades, so there's suddenly no more whining about the sniper. :lol

*edit* If the spy doesn't do much damage, then yeah, it won't happen. If the spy can do a decent amount of damage, then there's nothing stopping a spy from simply standing in some unfrequented spot and waiting for a sniper to be in range.

At any rate, Valve is usually pretty good about patching eventually. They patched the scout ball from last time.

Because shooting explosives blindly without any effort or risk isn't overpowered at all.

Guys, you seem to forget something : The Ambassador, unlike the Sniper Rifle, has no scope, and will probably have a cooldown longer than the charging of a Sniper Rifle shot, meaning all the fighting will happen at mid-range, and will make the Spy extremely weak if he misses his shot. The general principle is sound, it will all be a matter of making the right adjustments.

Well now I have to play Spy, love me some revolvers.

Wait, are you talking about the explosives that don't one-hit most of the time, and cause splash damage that could kill the shooter before the target, especially at close ranges?

Hey, you remember the Scout Update ? You remember the mail order coupon there was in the page for the Force-A-Nature ?
Well, some crazy people actually sent the coupon to Valve. And Valve RESPONDED.

A) It's totally sweet and awesome
B) It confirms that the next weapon for the Spy will be called the Ambassador
C) Valve > All.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-- what's with the incredible amount of WIN they're providing us with lately ?? Seriously, stop that shit now it's too much for my heart D:

And look a tonight's update :

Day 6 Spy Update Hooray!
May 19, 2009 - Stavros Xanthis

:lol :lol

Can you actually believe all of this delirium getting that far when it was only started because of a stupid leak ? Laughing my ass off.

I just started to pick up playing spy this week and have gotten pretty good at it. I must say that the ambassador looks a little too powerful - depending on how long the cool-down is. But we know Valve, if it's OP it'll get the nerf soon enough. Just like the Backburner. I have a feeling this and the 2 watches will be the only upgrades for the spy, while the sniper should get 1 more.

No, I'm pretty sure he's talking about being a demo where you can just spam explosives with little regard to aim and be successful.

spy sounds like the first class since medic that Ill consistently use 2 or more of its new weapons with.

I don't know of any situation in which anyone would not use the Sandvich. It allows Heavy to operate effectively on his own without a Medic buddy, making base infiltrations by a Rambo Heavy much more effective.

Since this is such an active thread, are any Circle-X regulars getting high pings on the server. I've been sitting at 100-110 lately. I'm beginning to wonder if my internet connection isn't total garbage and this is the cause. It's usually around 50-60.

That and the last time I played L4D is was totally unsatisfactory despite having a ping of like 78. My swipes as a hunter and tank were lag-a-licious and made them borderline useless.

Despite playing the entire 5 maps on versus, I never once even heard a swipe sound. They were so laggy my swipes were silent. It was surreal. So I'm wondering if Comcast has taken service to a shitty new low.

I wonder if it deals good damage to sentries... hmmm I like the spy updates.

The Ambassador will be perfect for hiding in a corner, taking a look at enemy health numbers, and picking off the weak ones. In turn, your actual combat capabilities are going to drop like a rock, so don't get caught.

Much more interesting than the point-blank headshot crits from behind rumor silliness that's been floating around since the weekend, anyway.

I've been getting random high pings there and on other servers I usually visit. I think people earlier in the thread were talking about random lag spikes recently.

The tubes probably need some Drano. (Or it have might have been something in the last server update. Or something on our ISP's. I'm on Charter btw.)

my bet a spear. Also, if the update is coming thursday, dose this mean this is the only new weapon the spy is getting

We can only hope it's the only one, since the spy now has an instant kill knife AND the most powerful handgun in the game. :P

Some people probably wanted a boomerang for the sniper, but I'm not sure how to make that overpowered. =(

Also, for the engineer update, I want a rapidfire sniper sentry, so people quit like 50 feet away but totally out of range. =(

I presume by the description that the ambassador can headshot crit like the sniper rifle.

The standard revolver is already extremely accurate at range, can't see it being much more accurate just more powerful.

Half my kills I get with my shotgun. No wind up and I can run with it. In fact, when going for a super push (looking for most penetration possible), Ill use just my shotgun while ubered. Not to mention, you never know when you will run out of ammo with the minigun.

Also, If you are crossing an area watched by snipers (2fort bridge) and enemies are running past, you dont want to slow down to wind up your weapon.

There is always a health pack somewhere in a TF2 map. Those health packs are always next to ammo, which Ill often be seeking out anyways.

You are doing it wrong.

It's been an interesting week for us here on the Left 4 Dead team. This Monday, for instance, somebody accidentally told Robin Walker he had the power to fire people. In other interesting news, the Left 4 Dead team has all been fired.

Lucky for me, Robin's fired everyone at alphabetical order, and doesn't seem to realize there's a letter after "Y". (Don't tell him.) . Since then it's been pretty quiet. Every hour or so Robin gets on a horse and chases some Greek kid around.

So for now I'm safe, and trying to reassemble the team. Without anyone else to help, I just have this crossword puzzle created by the fine folks at tf2maps.net. So this will have to work as a job application. If you can get this done, that probably means you can spell, which is a good start..
:lol
