Teens react to The Last of Us

teared up during this shit

even annoying kids can't make me not cry during this...

Now why would anyone want to see the reactions to other people play video games. Why do twitch streamers and lets players have face cams. Why are face cams built into the PS4 and X1 OS? It's a goddamn mystery.

Is it?
Never seen a movie so good or so bad that you HAD to share it with friends to see their reactions and have them go through the same emotions it made you go through? Its the same with video games.

Jesus, what's up with all the haters?

People like watching other people playing games for their reactions, it's not a waste of time if you enjoy it. It is the reason lets plays are so popular :/

I really loved that intro, one of my favourite introductions ever, such heavy atmosphere and pacing, and it makes you get so emotionally effected by
shara's death
, I'd say, personally moreso than any other game, and it's only 10 minutes into the game!
Still get watery eyed.

I just do not understand the stuff people cry at (or pretend to). The introductory TLoU cutscene shown was about the same lacklustre standard of direction and writing these games always come up with, riddled with clichés, obnoxiously unsubtle design choices to force players in a certain direction, appallingly bad use of the camera (in the non-player controlled segments) and 'big' moments dependent entirely on flash rather than substance to elicit a reaction. Only thing that's improved is the graphics - terrible shadows aside - and the voice acting, which was pretty good considering what the actors had to work with. I'm sure the actual game is as groundbreaking and magnificent as everyone claims it to be - haven't played it, obviously - but it's inconceivable how anyone could hold up that introduction for anything other than its failure to master even the most rudimentary building blocks of storytelling.

Inconceivable!

This happens every time someone posts one of these threads. "God I hate these!" Then don't watch..?

The only react vids I don't care for are the really young kids because they lack any kind of perspective. "What is this old thing? So stupid!"

Though I will say with these teens I found it amazing that any of them died in the friggin' prologue. All you have to do is point forward, maybe turn once in awhile, but that's it.
I agree with every single paragraph here.
I didn't even know you could die in the intro...

This only confirms how emotionally crippled I am. I never had a tenth of the emotional reaction everyone else seems to have had to TLoU. I always thought people were just putting it on because they were so caught up in the hype but I guess it's real.

Me neither. The only thing that kinda got me was his daughter dying but other than that everything else seemed pretty normal and the ending was kind of anticlimactic.

I died twice in the prologue my first playthrough -_-

Couldn't find the alley like that one kid (I kept running straight past it instead of turning), and I stopped too long to examine the ambulance. Woops

What's going to happen to you if I show TLOU opening and Bloodborne reveal trailer side by side?
I would shit my pants while crying

It's a simple equation!

I'm surprised by how much they got emotional for it.
Maybe i am turning into a sociopath for having played Mortal Kombat as a kid, but i definitely didn't react as strongly to it (even factoring in the over acting for the camera).
Still a great intro tho, don't get me wrong.

Good thing they only showed the beginning, it's all down hill after that.

Ah, man. Fancy making 'em play the intro. Shit was harrowing, and I'm usually totally dead inside. I maintain that the voice actress for Sarah was a large part of the 'impact' of that scene, she killed it.

Serious post?

Yep, it's such a brilliant intro, you know you're in for something special once those opening credits start up.
Don't think any other game has done it better, I'd say it rivals some of the best movies too.

Just like Bioshock Infinite before it. LOU's honeymoon period is ending and the hate begins on GAF in earnest.

I found it hit harder than most movies because I had a part in how it played out. I wasn't just sitting back and passively taking it in. That said, my missus had a cry when Sarah bought the farm and she was only watching, so maybe it's just that good.

It's definitely one of the most memorable moments in gaming for me.

Nah, it's been like this since it was clear the game was pretty fucking good. Gotta be a contrarian.

You'll note the bit where the cat says he hasn't actually played it. That's a common theme.

this doesn't make any sense either. just because it evokes emotions doesn't mean it's a masterpiece (and some people cry at anything), it may be a masterpiece(arguable) for other reasons but making people cry is a pretty low bar to set.

People cry playing new Sonic games.
New Sonic games are all masterpieces!

Teens react to an emotionally exploitive introduction prior to the main game which is basically a murder simulation. For shame. Disliked, unsubscribed, and flagged.

Considering this is the game that made me buy a PS3, I've got positive experiences with TLoU as well. Great great game.

Its really funny that I don't like the Uncharted games, which are by the same developer, but this game had such a different impact on me.

I didnt 'care' much for the intro; I didnt know those characters, and it basically serves to set up Joel as a 'lost my kid, now I'm a grumpy 40 something man that tries to not get emotionally involved'.

Now, the ending, that did hit me like a ton of bricks. Still PS3 GotG for me :)

I'm feeling the same way as well. It is a well done scene but, I don't know, watching these teens react to it made me realize that I never had the same emotional reaction at all. Now I'm sounding like a bitter empty person.

Also TLOU is an exclusive so I'd imagine Xbox, Nintendo, and some PC fanboys wouldn't say nice things about it.

lol wow, some fucking miserable people in this thread. Those teens seemed like nice kids who were having a good time and reacting earnestly to an emotional rollercoaster of an intro. No need to be so acerbic.
