TEKKEN 7 Graphics Upgraded: Say Ahoy! to Next-Gen Graphics (Shaheen gameplay inside)

We don't know yet.. Tekken 6 is tied along with VF5 for the greatest customization system ever.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 had the most garbage cutomization system ever. We have no idea where in the middle ground it'll be. It's possible it'll be as putrid as TTT2 or it might even eclipse VF5FS (but they haven't shown anything that comes close to that).

Lies... Decals are the best...

Don't blame the system, blame the guys who loves trolling you with the butterfly wings lololol

Damn, I'm loving Shaheen's fighting style, although some moves feel a bit floaty.

I've been playing Tekken since Tekken 1, and worked on marketing during Tekken 2 and 3, but I had no idea the original name was Rave War. WTF.

Probably because it was in development at the same time as rave racer. Probably wanted to tie the games together like virtua series with Sega.

Originally Tekken was to be titled "Rave War" but the development team later replaced it to Tekken.

The first arcade Ridge Racer, the car had a Rave War decal.

Butterfly wings are annoying. Customs should be banned in competitive play. Jin can bound using the paper fan when he normally wouldn't be able to from one of his moves.

That character select screen just makes me sad. It seems pretty anemic for a game that's about to hit arcades. Also, my fear of no lei / yoshi is now bordering on paranoia. Come on namco, I am sure there are other jackie chan fans as well.

With regards to the graphics, they already looked pretty good but now are even better.

I just want a HQ gif cropped to Kazuya's sexy coat physics. Mmmmmm!

If it's anything like Tekken 6, it should be good. But by and large, if you're unhappy with the Chloe design, I'm sure you will be able to change it drastically enough that it won't even look like her anymore. Everything should be customizable since this isn't a Tag game (hair, gloves, top shirt, pants, shoes, hat/head accessories, etc).

Plus the new consoles have a lot more RAM. At least, I think that was mentioned as the issue with not being able to customize as in-depth in Tag 2.

Worry not, this isn't anywhere near the final roster. There are going to be more characters revealed and released over time throughout the lifespan of the game in arcades. Expect 15+ additional characters to this starting roster of 20.

And come on, Yoshimitsu is gonna be in it. He's a Tekken legend. Hopefully Lei makes the cut too. I love that guy.

Hope you're joking. The item moves mean jack shit for competitive play.

What I saw and played at JAEPO yesterday looked pretty damn sick. Much better than the test location build. The stages are EASILY the best in the series (and IMO the best looking in 3D fighting games today) and Shaheen's playstyle was much more mobile and acrobatic than I thought it would be.

Chloe however was about as annoying as I had imagined she'd be :p.

Gonna have me some REAL fun come the 18th :D

Eh..i would not say 'next gen graphics' at all. Looks close to SC5 level with higher IQ. That's perfectly fine, but its not really "wow". You can tell the polygon budget of the models was intentionally not stressed for budgetary reasons. Probably around same amount as T6.

Shaheen reminds me of that ridiculously handsome man deported from Saudi Arabia for being too good-looking that time

Story was false. Dude didn't get deported at all.

The only "noteworthy" thing that happened to him was that the religious police asked him to stop dancing inappropriately at a family-centric event that was being held, and he complied.

Obviously but what good is an arcade game who's graphics need to be completely reworked & downgraded for a home release?

Ugh your not gonna last long here. The game looks like it does because the development house never had the intention of focusing on graphics in the first place.

Arcades in Japan are based around the hardcore players these days to offset the erasure of the casual interest in arcades, the development of these games is funded entirely by that sector. The budget for high end arcade machines or investment in development pipelines to that scale does not exist in that marketplace anymore.

You are obviously not a competitive player since everything Sayah said went in one ear & out the other. Every asain tournament from MasteraCup to Tekken Crash allows for customs.

Nothing you said has any relevence to my point. Current gen console preformance dictates how far you should push yout game graphically in an arcade release planned for console release. It would be an incredibly poor business decision in 2015 to make a graphical powerhouae arcade game that could not be ported to consoles without investing significant money into a downgrade.

Finally, The first next gen fighter. Finally Tekken is back to revolutionizing fighting game graphics, those textures and high rez particle effects.....My Law must make a return....

Never thought I'd see Tekken copying DOA

The less said about that thing, the better. I'm thinking maybe if I ignore it, it'll just up and vanish one day.

Law is already back yo. He's got them gold pants.

Unless you meant Forest.

Marginally better consoles lead to marginally better graphics.

You should first educate yourself on what "marginal" means before trying to discuss graphics. The consoles can output much better looking graphics if work is put into it, which they clearly seem to be doing going by the graphical update.

Do we know is this one of Namco's Playstation derivative hardware like usual or one of the Taito sets.

Neither. Its PC hardware. There is no PlayStation derivative because that's PC as well.

And your original point made no sense, hence i was correcting you. Making a high end arcade game graphics wise has nothing to do with the console development pipeline and more to do with the business realities of developing games to that scale for the lower end developer. There is no money to do that period anymore, that's without factoring in console development at any level.

I'm not dissapointed with the graphics. They are what I expect. The consoles are not powerful enough to produce the kind of graphics leap people are expecting from games. I have reasonable expectations for a 1080p 60fps game, others do not.
