[TGA 2020] Sephiroth join Smash Bros !

So glad that the final fantasy 7 music will be updated! Please include a ton of it!!

also, would've loved the top of a Gondola at the Golden Saucer with fireworks in the background (and with Aerith and other characters in the Gondola) for the stage.

so this is it for switch for the year: a leaf gathering game, a dozen new and old Mario and a PlayStation icon in their junior fighting game

what a great year
 
It makes perfect sense now that I think about it. Game was in dire need of villains to put in the roster. What other 3rd party villain was more iconic?

I don't even have switch or played smash. Thank God for mario though, out of his league here
 
While this is still cool, it bugs me that FF7 hogs even more attention from better, more Nintendo relevant entries like FF4 and FF6.

Give me a classic FF rep. Now there's even less hope cuz 2 slots are used up from 1 fucking game in the series.
 
Best announcement from this shit show, I should've watched this trailer and walked away satisfied (even though I'll never buy a Switch), instead of wasting my time I will never get back. People playing Cyberpunk 2077 were the smart ones.
 
Third Parties don't put their games on Switch anymore, they just add a character in Smash and call it a day.
 
I watched this trailer after knowing Sephiroth was the upcoming character and was still blown away by the amount of fanservice and sheer faithfulness contained therein.

While I doubt it'll ever happen, I'd love to see some BTS for these Smash reveal trailers as they're all extremely lavish and well done.
 
If anyone hasn't figured it out yet, the entire trailer is based on Advent Children, recreated in Smash. Seems like Sakurai really did enjoy FF7:AC

... too bad it's still all for that game that I keep playing just because my Nintendo-playing friends love it.
I always secretly hated Smash, and my hate isn't even secret anymore since my friends got good enough at it that they decided to do away with items and final smashes entirely.
 
I never even played FF7 and this trailer has me hyped. I was starting to get worried we were going to get a fighter pass full of Min-Mins.
 
I always fucking hate reactions for new characters. Just about every one is so fake. It was hilarious watching people realize at the start of the game awards show out of nowhere they had to turn their fake hypometer to full and scream like a bunch of little bitches over a character that was around likely before they were even born.
 
Unpopular opinion: I really enjoy reactions. People enjoying things pleases me. Perhaps I'm too gullible, or have such a deficiency of delight on my life that I must vampirically absorb it from streamers.

I enjoy them too, but only for certain people. There are some that seem to be genuinely excited for what is shown.

Meh. Did the game really need another JRPG sword guy? As awesome as Sephiroth's tune is, one of the GOAT's in gaming OSTs, this felt like an underwhelming announcement. Especially considering Fortnite added Master Chief, Kratos and The Mandalorian in the span of like a week.

Yeah, played up reactions are so fucking lame.

Something like that Maximillian guy's reaction to the Cloud reveal is something genuinely funny and enjoyable. It mighta even been edited after and stuff but it comes off a lot more authentic.

I can even compare it to the Sephiroth one and it's not even close. I hate, like, multiple reactions at once, it always comes off more attention whore-y that way. I just wanna see the one guy's reaction, I don't give a shit about his friends tagging along the video/channel. Not into YouTubers very much but a trend I dislike that I've noticed is when a solo channel starts letting their friends tag along, I find it annoying and off-putting. AVGN did the same as well and that helped me lose interest in his channel from back in the day. Youtube grift in general really bugs me. Feels like most end up this way at some point.

Gotta love how shirtless sexy Sephiroth is okay but any other female character gotta get toned down lol.
 
I beat the Sephiroth very hard challenge with Cloud in less than 8 seconds by accident. I did the "up move" and I thought Cloud had been knocked into the abyss, but it was actually Sephiroth. It happened so fast that I didn't know what happened.

FF started on NES. The series has a history with Nintendo.

I'm all for them choosing the most popular from this series rather than being dogmatic about who appeared on their 8 and 16 bit systems
