This thread brought to you by the International Coalition of Presenting Opinions as Facts.

In the fighting game community, there's the notion that certain characters are better than others. I thought, hey, why not apply that same concept to ethnic food? So without further ado, here's the initial draft of my Official International Food Tier List™. Of course I haven't tried every country's food, so feel free to suggest new entries and tell me in which tier they belong.

Top Tier:

Mexican
American
Chinese
Thai
Italian

High Tier:

Japanese
Arab/ Middle Eastern
Mongolian
Vietnamese
Indian

Middle Tier:

Mediterranean
Korean

Low / Mediocre Tier:

Spanish (they're way to proud to admit it but it's true)

Garbage Tier:

(No entries yet)

??? Tier (i.e. food I haven't really tried extensively so I don't know where to put them):

Canadian (do they even have anything besides poutine? It looks like garbage anyway lol.)
French (probably good but idk)
South American Countries (based on what I've seen, the poor man's version of Mexican food, but I'm willing to be persuaded either way.)
British (based on what I've heard it's bad but I like fish and chips so who knows!)

All ethnic foods are not created equal. Get at me.

=D

I'm pretty sure Italian food should be top tier. Both pizza and pasta are awesome. I am not sure that they eat anything else in Italy. Ice cream maybe? Ice cream is pretty good too.
British food can go in garbage tier. I've eaten enough chip sandwiches (fries inbetween breads, ketchup optional) to know that they are kind of pointless.

Top tier: Portuguese

And now I'm hungry.

No all british food is bad but I am probably alone in that opinion..

also Indian Food should go in GOD Tier as well as turkish and Greek

I'd say Belgian Food is top tier but I have no picture to show :(. Still amazing (but unhealthy) food.

Thai is also amazing.

Heh we call that a "Routier" (literally "truck driver"), we just add some kind of fried meat on top of the fries (and tons of sauce, not exclusively ketchup or mayo). It's disgusting but so delicious at the same time.

How dare you?
Korean has a bad matchup against Chinese and Thai, and Mediterranean gets edged out by Arab/ Middle Eastern, although there is some overlap there.

It's amazing how people feel this is appropriate to say, then they actually, you know, have poutine, and then, they too realize how badly people say "lol it looks bad" need to be straight up fucking murdered in the streets for their impossibly ignorant blasphemy.

God Tier
American
Mexican
Italian

Garbage Tier
Everything else

Anyone who doesn't have American food as the best is flat out wrong. It's diverse and brilliant and tasty on all accounts.

needs moar Indian, Greek and Ethiopian.

Oh, and New Orleans food gets to sit above American food, despite being American food.

I'm fairly certain that all cultures have picked food sources from their local environment in order to cover all the nutrients they need and that when you grow up eating certain things you develop a taste for them.

Hence why a lot of things are considered to be an acquired taste.

So I don't think you can really tier foods. Especially since your tastes will change over time as well

I mean, it's really hard to give a tier list of something completely subjective.

I'd say the only point of poutine is to troll pussies who are scared of food that doesn't look right, but there are so many more points to poutine.

Like, seriously people, you put gravy on a baked potato, but fries don't make sense to you? The hell.

Top Tier:
French
Chinese
Italian
Japanese
Indian

Mid Tier:
Korean
Thai
Vietnamese
Mexican
Greek
Islamic Countries(Grouping places like Lebanon and Morocco together)

Low Tier:
German
American/Canadian
Portuguese

Garbage Tier:
England

Think I hit all the big ones. Didn't rate Spanish because Spanish is highly overrated. Paella is done better in the south of France and I am of Italian heritage so their dry cured ham no matter how good it may be is not Parma ham.

EDIT: Also I want to say that Mexican and Chinese are perhaps the most similar in that there is an inverse relationship to cost and how good it tastes. Cheap and dirty Chinese and Mexican food is usually a lot better than expensive Chinese and Mexican.

you mean mashed potato

No fucking way is Thai food "top tier", for me at least. Can't stand 95% of SE Asian food (fish sauce ruins it for me).

And speaking of international foods.... when is the next candy swap going to occur? I want me some obscure European candy :<

Canadian food...
As a Canadian, I'm not sure Canada came up with enough to give it a classification of its own.
"Well, we have poutine, maple syrup, and, uh... uhhhh..."

Going by what I've eaten a lot of:

Top:
- Chinese Buffet!
- Italy
- America
- Lebanese
- France

High:
- India
- Thailand
- Japan

Mid:
- Greek
- Germany
- Russia

Low:
- UK
- Spanish

Thank you!

The same goes with Brazilian. You barbecue some meat, congratulations. It ain't even the best barbecue as the Americans, Chinese and the Koreans do it better than Brazil. Also I have met a lot of Brazilians and more so than any culture do I find their palates to be that of children. Always have to drown everything with salt and pepper and can't handle any heat of any kind. Most that I have net just like meat and potatoes with very little variety.
