I remember not being that opposed to the twist and thought it was one of the better parts of the film. I guess I just don't like the Tony Stark character that much and I find his action scenes boring.

Thats the key. If you don't like Stark/RDJ then the enjoyment of the movie will lessen. To me he raises all the movies up and carries them.

And it's one of the most awesomeness action scenes in the MCU. The sound of War Machines big machine gun, soooooo good.
I'm fine with not much action as long as the action that is there is good. MCU movies are about character, the action is icing on the top.
