OP: You're a piece of trash. You're not smart enough to be a nerd, not self-aware enough to be a dork, nor confident enough to be a true athlete. You make posts about how you get into fights and you are a sad, sad, little man.

Everybody here knows people like this. They end up being mechanics. Janitors. Washed-up permanent entry-level drama queens. Nothing is worse than a kid that can't relate to athletes or academics. You're the guy that didn't bother to try out for sports but didn't want to be seen with your loser-ass druggie friends because they were playing magic at the lunch table. We all know you. At least the nerds are endearing. You're just a sad shell of rejection still trying to work through daddy issues and prove that you're not sexually confused (or abused?) by expressing yourself through violent actions and words.

I have an idea. You focus on your flaws or tell us why you're so fucking cool. Or you could get some help so that violent streak of yours doesn't end you up in jail or living with your trailer trash mom for the rest of your life.

I was partly describing myself before anybody gets excited. I hated myself for a long time because I didn't know how to just be me.

A guy I know could be classed as one of these Alpha Nerds, a big geek with allot of muscle.

I would say getting in shape did give him allot of self confidence.

Though an extreme example, this type of behavior is not unique to this individual. In fact, I have seen the rise of the "muscle-nerd" grow rampantly in the last few years, and quite frankly, I'm disgusted.

The nerd with muscles embodies the worst traits of both the pencil-neck geek, and the meathead--


Nerd) Entirely socially inept and overall characterized by an oddball personality that is absorbed in a quasi-fantasy world that is detached from everything and everyone around them. In other words, they are still unable to converse with women, and hold conversations about anything other than videogames, anime, and sci-fi.

Meathead) Consumed with vanity. Just take a look a the aforementioned video. He is constantly striking 'muscular' poses, clearly checking himself out on the computer screen to make sure he looks big. Wheras the regular nerd generally accepts themselves for what they are, (unapproachable weirdos), the nerd with muscles assumes a slightly more confident position where they consider themselves 'elite' amongst their fellow kind. In other words, they still are unable to converse with normal society, but amongst other nerds they carry an "alpha-male" elitist attitude, where they think more highly of themselves because they have muscles.

Pro-tip for all muscle-nerds: Gaining muscles mass is not at all difficult in the right situation (barring certain genetic limitations, in which case it can be near-impossible). The fact that one is able to go to the gym and lift weights basically means nothing. It isn't noteworthy. It certainly doesn't qualify you as an alpha male. Nobody cares. In fact, in many instances such as the example given, it is clear that they have no knowledge of proper diet and nutrition, and simply engage in worthless mass building with no semblance of definition or true fitness.

The muscular nerd is a sub-category which I have seen rise dramatically in numbers in the last few years. Back before the advent of the internet, these types of individuals never existed, because quite honestly the information wasn't easily accessible for nerds who never played any sort of sport. It would have been nice if it stayed that way.

Lifting weights does not make you an athlete. Lifting weights mindlessly does not mean that you are Arnold Schwarzenegger and should be striking poses in the middle of your game reviews. You are not special. Your talent is as noteworthy as my ability to wipe my ass in under 5 seconds. NOBODY CARES. Clearly, you are still the same socially-inept, bumbling, timid fool that you were before you picked up the dumbbells. So why don't you just give up the charade and go back to your Star Trek marathons?

It's long been my favorite video of the internet. It combines sweet music (Guano Apes) with impractical martial arts and amazing jumps. I wish I had the dedication to be able to do something like that.
