The Amazing Spider-Man TRAILER #2

Movie looks boring as hell

Garfield looks and sounds like an actor trying to play Spider-man, gonna be a tough sell. Emma Stone dyed her hair. Nothing wrong with that but it just feels like everything is off, like this is some sort of fake poser-Spiderman movie.

Should have shown more parkour. The action shown doesn't seem like anything special. The acting and dialogue seems terrible. The story seems cliche (mysterious parent, seeking out an old coworker of parent, cops trying to arrest the superhero)...the tag in the trailer should have been The Story Nobody Asked For

What was that tower thing at the end? Were we supposed to be impressed?

There's literally nothing to be hyped about.

Absolutely love this shot:

spiderswingsmalln5ahm.gif

this alone blows away all of the cg-work in raimi's spider-man films.

Spider-Man 2 train fight says you're wrong. As does the Sandman scene from the shittacular Spiderman 3. But don't get me wrong, I love Raimi but the man does not know how to squeeze a budget.

The special effects and general aesthetics are better than the trilogy. The film just looks darker and less cartoony.

That said, I thought the trailer was pretty weak and none of the performances impressed me. I'm surprised that so many people got hyped from it. I missed the first trailer, though, so maybe that lowered people's expectations?

This movie seems darker than previous Spiderman movies.

I think people need to remember that no less than FOUR superhero movies launched last summer and not one grossed above $200m in the US. Personally I think that Amazing Spiderman is probably going to come in at $150-200m in the US.

I'd say that X-Men:First Class was my favourite of summer superhero movies. It was also a reboot and it made $146m in the US. And the highest grossing was Thor which made $181m at the start of the summer.

Amazing Spiderman has just a single week to itself before Ice Age 4 comes out and knocks it off the top spot on the 13th of July. Ice Age is one of those franchises that people don't really realise is such a box office powerhouse.

You are out of your mind if you think that Spiderman will do less than $250m, especially with 3D tax. Personally i don´t expect anything less than $300m in the US. I think it will be the first Spiderman movie that reaches a $ billion worldwide.

Those Marvel films were pretty middling and First Class wasn't exactly targeted at a wide audience and had atrocious marketing. Spider-Man is one of, if not the most recognizable and loved pop characters in America, and Sony's marketing for the original trilogy was very strong.

Let's also not also forget that this movie will be the first action adventure film in theatres to be filmed by the Red Epic camera which means it's going to look leagues ahead of other action movies, and the 3D was filmed natively. Just think about it, a good looking 3D Spider-Man film. The kids will fucking flip.

I'm somewhat looking forward to this. After the mess-up that was Spidey 3 a reboot is exactly what was needed. I really don't care that it's an origin story because we get a new antagonist, Lizard...man looks pretty good as far as I can tell. I hope these new spidey films stay away from Doc Oc, Goblin and Sandman. But Venom needs to return, I feel he needs redemption just like how Bane deserved redemption after Batman & Robin.

I stil don't understand the Red Epic cameras they are using? What good is it for the movie? Better looking action scenes? How?

It looks good, especially after that piece of shit Spider-Man 3.

Somewhere in a corner, Tobey Maguire is crying.

Oh wait

i'm watching that on youtube right now and a lot of the cg looks quite bad--some of it reminds me of the dodgy cg in reloaded & revolutions and the characters and the train, especially at the end, look like they have no weight to them.

it probably does help that that gif is from a night shot, though.

A billion worldwide? Why stop there? Make it two billion, hell make it three billion and it can topple Avatar as the highest grossing film ever.

You do realise that only TEN films have made a billion or more at the box office EVER?

From what I saw, only the CGI scenes looked good in 3D. Everything that had been shot without digital artifacts didn't look so good on the stereoscopic side. Lots of ghosting. Especially when Peter meets the Gwen's family.

8 of those films were released in the last 5 years. And given the movies that achieved the billion mark, it doesn't seem like it's going to be much of an achievement going forward.

Well, shucks.

If you think that the fact this film was shot on the Red Epic in native 3D will not only make this "look leagues ahead of other action movies" but make kids 'fucking flip' you are delusional and should seek out a medical professional ASAP.

No one outside of the fanboy echo chamber that is the Internet will give a shit.

Spidy 3 did 891 million world wide with out higher prices and 3D tax .
Also allot more movies making more money world wide .
Now i not saying this reboot going to make it to a billion but if it good it won't shock me if it makes loads of money.

It just wouldn't be a Spider-Man movie if he didn't lose his mask during the finale.

Looks great though. The filth of Spider-Man 3 is washing away..

LOVE Emma Stone as Gwen. Leary's delivery sounds off in just about every line he has..but hey..not seeing them in full context, I suppose.

The cops going after Spider-Man? Is that a notable thread in the comics ever, because Spidey normally seems to get away with the vigilante act.

Great trailer, though. Really hype-inducing. Especially when he's quipping. And The Lizard looked good too, despite not being the lab-coat wearing dinosaur man I'm used to.

I'm down. Why won't Marvel make a similarly exciting Avengers trailer already... :(

Yep. Started off quite early in the comics and it's a story line that gets revised every few issues.

Thanks. I'm more familiar with the cartoons and films, where Spidey seems constantly broing out with cops more than anything. I assume the game won't have him answering police distress calls every 2 seconds like the SM2 game :lol

You do realize that Spiderman is an iconic figure world wide. The 3D tax will make sure that the movie will do a billion. Spiderman is very popular world wide.

Looked pretty good, I see they decided to keep the lizard shots to a minimum. Either they are smart and realize it looks idiotic or he does eventually transform into something closer to the comics and they want us to be surprised. Andrew Garfield is already better than Tobey so at least we have that.

That actually is real. They prepared a pretty robust rig so that he could swing in a few scenes like that one.
Yeah I know, that was my point with the gif. I remember those stunt images coming out, looked awesome then and still does now.

Another great web slinging scene (not even sure if this one is real or CG or mixed);

ASMgif6.gif

Watched it on mute (at work). Visually it's shockingly similar to Raimi's films in a great many ways.

And I hope those who raged about Spidey being unmasked in S-M2 will not be hypocrites here.

Shit, hope that's a WIP on the ghosting, but probably not.

Anyway, some more gifs;

Really love this web shooting scene;

& it wouldn't be a SM flick if he didn't descend upside down at some point...

That's her actual hair colour.

the very end of the trailer with the piece of tower rolling over the edge made me think, "oh, this thing is in 3D, i guess?"...

funny that 3D movies just cant avoid having something fall towards or be thrown at the screen.

anyway, the trailer wasnt anything special. it all felt so... familiar.

Eh, I can't seem to get excited for superhero movies anymore. I got a 'been there done that' feeling while watching it. It looks decent though.

And I've seen people hating on the somewhat "shakiness" of the camera during the slinging sequences, but I like it. You can still follow what's going on, but it adds a bit to the speed of the scene.

I didn't like any of the previous Spidey films. Never ever. They had this hokey vibe that I couldn't overcome. This trailer, however, got me pumped for some reason.

I'm thinking Gwen's dad dies, then Gwen dies in the next one.

I'm still salty the black guy from community isn't Spider-Man.
