"iPad 2 Official Thread of Does Anyone Know if Best Buy Will Stock the iPad 3 But If I Order Online How Long Will it Take To Get to Me" and then just write a quick FAQ where the answer to every question is a link to Google.giga said:I was asking for suggestions earlier about what to put in the OP for the new thread. I can have it up by tonight if people chime in about what to put in there.

It's definitely lighter, probably about the same with the smart cover. As reviewers stated, it's easier to hold because of the curved edges, too.Fusebox said:Noticably lighter?

That should about cover 90 percent of the thread.
Yeah I was surprised by how powerful the magnets are, too. The thing definitely latches on tightly and doesn't seem like it would ever fall off unless you wanted it to.Carlisle said:Just got home with my black 64gb wifi. Left the store by 5:30. Syncing apps now, so I haven't gotten to use it yet but wow is it sexy. Surprised how much noticeably lighter it is than iPad 1 considering the specs stated it was only a few grams' difference. SmartCover is really hot too. Magnets are powerful. You can hold the whole thing up by just the cover and let the iPad dangle and it still hangs on to it like a beast.
Awesome, I was wondering if it could do that. I hang my iPad by the cover occasionally.Carlisle said:Just got home with my black 64gb wifi. Left the store by 5:30. It seems like the cover will probably need a slight break in process. I tried folding it into a variety of positions right out of the box and it seems like I'll need to play with it a bit to get the creases worn in properly.Gary Whitta said:Wow I love the magnets are that strong. Does the cover fold easily around back when in use?
It does, but it doesn't stick behind as well as I had hoped. When you wrap it behind, you kind of have to wrap the edge of the cover around the curve of the right edge of the ipad for the magnets to make proper contact. And even then, it's a weaker connection than when it's covering the front. It definitely doesn't seem like it was designed to stick on the back, but just folding it behind is no problem at all. It flattens against the back as well as it does on the front.Gary Whitta said:Wow I love the magnets are that strong. Does the cover fold easily around back when in use?

MSIMagus said:Hit up Amazon. I got my 64 GB for $460 shipped expedited(got it in 2 days)and when I looked over the last day or two the price was hovering around $480. Again that price is for 64 GB, the 16 is even cheaper.
Darko said:I payed $450 shipped for 64gb wifi on ebay (original buyer bailed out so I got it second chance offer at $420)

Apparently when it asks to enter your dev stuff just hit cancel. It should still work. I haven't tried it myself yet.Anastacio said:Are anyone into it? I saw some people earlier registering to Apple Developer Connect wit put paying to get Gestures for iPad. I'm stuck at the field where i have to enter my phone number, but I don't know what my area code or extension is.
I went to the KoP Apple store this morning and got a 32GB wi-fi there. *high five*Zeth said:I'm physically in line at King of Prussia, PA. Maybe 40 people ahead of me.
Yea, but I have to confirm all my informations in my Apple ID, like the exact name on my credit card and extension and area code of my phonenumber. What is that?kaskade said:Apparently when it asks to enter your dev stuff just hit cancel. It should still work. I haven't tried it myself yet.
MSIMagus said:Yeah if everyone with an Ipad upgrads to the Ipad 2 its not impressive, just tooly Apple fans being tooly apple fanboys. It is what they do, but if a lot of new people go out and get the Ipad 2 then that is impressive. The challenge apple faces(and has always faced)is getting their tech in the hands of new people.

Just use it, you should be fine.Jswanko said:Have not been able to put this thing down since picking it up yesterday, impressed with everything except (predictably) the cameras.
Does it matter that i didnt charge it fully before using it the first time? I couldn't resist. took it down to about 50% last night before i charged it back to 100%, going to drain it all the way this time.
Also, any agreement on best word processor app?
Apple Stores, Best Buys, and whatever other stores also make it instantly available for a hands on experience. A bit harder when those aren't available in whatever area, and for those you just have to rely on a bit of a viral experience. A few people get an iPad, friends and family get to experience it through them.LyleLanley said:Is that still a challenge for Apple? Ten years ago maybe, but ever since the iPod they've been able to make whatever they want have it instantly become extremely desirable to everyone.
Bigger and better than the iPhone with a (probably) longer battery life than your laptop and can do more stuff than the Kindle (...except in direct sunlight).MadraptorMan said:I'm still trying to figure out why the hell I even want an iPad...I have the newest iPhone, I have a Kindle, I have a great laptop and a decent HDTV...what exactly do I need an iPad for? My Bluetooth tethering from my iPhone 3G (4.2.1) now totally works to my iPad (4.3). I was looking forward to getting hotspot feature, but was a bit peeved 4.3 doesn't install on the iPhone 3G. But I guess that doesn't matter so much now!
So was it the 4.3 update that allowed me to tether via Bluetooth to my iPhone even though it's still on 4.2.1?
Burger said:Uhh wot?
Are you kidding me? iPad supports Bluetooth PAN connections?
Nice. Iit works on the iPad 2mrkgoo said:I guess so? I just switched off all wifi on my iPhone 3G and iPad 1 and turned the tethering on, and could connect my iPad and access Internet (onEDGE, lol). Maybe you can confirm for me.
A little chain link icon appears in top left. I'll get a screen shot up soon. If this posts, then i'm doing so with my iPad wifi off!

Burger said:Awesome! I was a little bummed when WiFi hotspot didn't come to my 3GS, as the only reason I wanted it was because my iPad didn't support BT tethering.
I'll try it out when I get home, thanks!
Charred Greyface said:Nice. Iit works on the iPad 2
I wonder if it works with an iphone/iPod Touch as well.
LCfiner said:that's the official "personal hotspot" symbol, alright.
very cool that they added in the BT support for those who can't get 4.3 on the iPhone.
mrkgoo said:Yeah, it got me bummed at the time too. Let me know if it works for you! Does 4.3 install on 3GS though? Why did they disable the hotspot for that?
Burger said:It's the Apple way! Seriously though, I assume that WiFi hotspot would drain the poor wee 3GS battery way too fast (plus 3GS users must have been through many battery cycles by now). You can jailbreak it and do it, but I don't bother with that stuff these days.
Otherwise then yeah, 4.3 works a-ok on the 3GS. I assume it may be the last supported version though. May gave to get iPhone 4GS for iOS 5.
Weird that one thing the iPhone 4 got that 3GS users didn't get were the added ringtones and sms alert sounds. Why leave those out?
mrkgoo said:I wish 4.0 was never released for iPhone 3G. Feels so slow. I can see what they did. They optimised the operating system for certain apps like safari and the phone app - fair enough, but apps like google maps, messaging and so on are slow to load.
The main bummer is that I really got very little out of upgrading. No multitasking, so why bother even having 3G owners upgrade? I can't remember what I got out of it.
And I'm not a jail breaker - just can't be bothered dealing with that.
But yeah, I skipped on an iPhone 4 even though it made a lot of sense. iPhone 5 will be awesome hopefully.
Back to tethering though - will be awesome to go travelling around NZ and tethering my iPad. Like when I frequently travel to Napier, and I'm heading back down to the South Island next month.
Burger said:Yeah 3G users got stiffed on 4.0. I thought 4.2 fixed a lot of that though? Or was that just propaganda?
I'm moving to the UK in May, and looking at some prepay options over there you can get 500 TXT and 500mb for about £10 which sounds nice. It's much better to use the net on my iPad than my iPhone (I eventually get sick of it).
