I was thinking, the tablet is said to be running iPhone OS 3.2, with reports of the G4 iPhone running 4.0. What if 3.2 releases on Wednesday, because it's been so fucking long since 3.1 released and the only holdup is that 3.2 refers to the tablet, and then when the G4 iPhone and tablet drops, 4.0 comes out with it?
Unrelated, I don't give a shit about the price. It won't be over $1000, subsidised or not. Also, I don't care about a data plan for it, I just want the device. Having the internet in my pocket can stay on my iPhone. My apple tablet can do my everything else, or I'll just drop my SIM card into the tablet if I have to to use the 3G for a while. No reason to have two data plans if I already have an iPhone. (Unless they FORCE you to use a different SIM/data plan, thus rendering my idea null and my argument void.)
Also, my dad is completely on the hype train. I spent the last year porting my family over to Macs, and my dad just got his first iPod Touch for his birthday about a week ago. He is in love with it more than anything else I've seen him get, and the concept of this tablet even merely being a 10-inch iPod Touch has him absolutely giddy. :lol

I guess that was a bit half baked. A while back there was the report of G4 iPhones running 4.0 and of some device that wasn't an iPhone running 3.2. People were going "Oh what is this barf the Tablet is running iPhone OS what about 4.0 though?" I was just thinking, maybe they're just testing 3.2 right now because that's what will release this Wednesday, and 4.0, which the G4 iPhoen and Tablet will ship with, will come out in March or June or whenever.

Oh, yeah, I'm just making a commentary. It's just something I was thinking about today and I hadn't seen anyone else say it, just had seen people complaining about 3.2 when 4.0 is the next big thing. Maybe we'll just finally get 3.2 this week.
Also, thinking about it now, everyone has being going "OMG OMG 4.0" but really, if this new device is running 3.2, I haven't seen a single person speculate what the update could hold. We've heard numerous reports saying that iPhone OS hasn't moved beyond 3.1 due to references to the new tablet, but I have yet to read any kind of speculation on what exactly the new OS, 3.2 or 4.0, could feature.

They could have their own sources for speculation.
Also, they get a ton of free advertising for a 'mistake'. A few minute tweet, and it's on all the tech sites.
Again, I'm not saying it's fake. I'm just saying it's nothing to get worked up about. It's interesting speculation, and people are free to comment, but save the disappointment-ton until we know for sure.

I wouldn't look into the numbers too much. I just read the reports as "They're testing future versions of the OS." Nothing more, nothing less.

It simply sounds too much like iPod to be taken seriously, in my opinion.
Personally I really like how the AppleTV is just [applelogo]TV, I kinda wish all their products were like that.

So let me ask this, is there going to be a big market for this thing if it's just a 10" iPhone? I think they are smart enough to realize that everyone and their grandma already has an iPhone, and most people to say no thanks to another.... So who would be buying this? They are going to have to bring something new to the table here, and I think they know that.

Well, whatever the numbers may be, it's still true that people have been focusing more on "Will it run iPhone OS?" than "What will be a new feature in the next iPhone OS?"mrkgoo said:

There have been so many "slip-ups" about the Apple Tablet and they're not really consistent. I remember reading that Apple will purposely leak fake information to see who "slips-up."
The best thing to do is wait until Wednesday before anyone starts freaking out or having an orgasm. There's still so little that we know.

haven't most of the latest Apple announcements been basically confirmed by leaks? i.e. we knew what most of the products looked like before the show if nothing more specific.
Have apple ever announced a retail price only to sell the product months later? for a german retailer to be tweeting about it now, kind of suggests it will be available to buy soon. why would retailers already have info about it if they weren't selling for 5 months?
as ready as I am for a gadget I don't REALLY need (sometimes you just want a new toy!) if this is that expensive to make it the cost equivalent of a macbook or a new iphone, hell no apple.
I'm looking at PSP, ipod touch prices at most.
although my craving for a new apple means I might be sweet talked into doing something stupid. but if its just gonna be like all the leaks so far, not interested.
