The Avatar Injected A Kingdom for Keflings Official Thread

I'm probably going to buy this, but I'd still like an answer to a question I asked twice earlier in the thread; is there online vs.? I demand Kefling warfare.. Also, is there local co-op?

2 people on my Friends list haven't stopped playing this since it came out.

same here, had a friend who was playing this for what seemed to be like 24 straight hours... i had to hit him up...

I was like, really?

He was like, yeah...

and then I was like, sold!

and now i can't stop playing...

The framerate for this game really bothers me..

I'm not usually a framerate whore but I dunno, something just rubs me the wrong way with this one.

Just got in from a Fri night out and firing it up before bed,

yeah hopefully the sheers are there when I start or I'm going to go insane (the music might get me first, will listen to 1up yours instead).

Seems like there is just a few of us on GAF playing, anyone up for setting up some co-op or multi for over the weekend?

I just downloaded this last night, had some extra points and said WTH. It's really, really fun and I'm looking forward to playing more this weekend.

Are there only three books available? I have the guild hall built, but cannot find another book to finish up the Primary School for the life of me.

I got 4 in my game. Found 2 in the world, and I think I got 2 from quests from the mayor.

Holy crap @ KFK's opening week sales. It's easily going to out-sell NB's last effort in A Band of Bugs.

Looks to be well above 20,000 in 3 days. Bravo, Ninja Bee.

Hey, this actually looks pretty cool. I'll check it out when I get a chance.

edit: Can you gift games on XBLA? If so I could split a 1600 points card with a friend so we could both get this.

This is a really, really addictive little game. I intended on playing it for about half an hour before a session of Gears 2 but I ended up playing KfK for 3 hours instead :lol It's got that "let me unlock one more thing" mentality about it but it's also very relaxing because there are no enemies and you can't really lose. I think the 1980's test card music will begin to grate soon but apart from that I have no complaints. It's well worth the 800 points.

dude yes, this game is super fun..played co-op for 4 hours last night with some buddies..turned the 360 on today and started playing again.

What are you talking about? Link me?

I love this game and with that, all Ninja Bee games it would seem. I played the game to it's "conclusion" in about 10 hours and then I thought to myself "I can do that a lot better" and immediately started a new game. I decided to put all of my Kefling houses and Town Hall up away from everything else. The Town Hall is at the top and the houses are lined up below with the two schools sitting up there as well. It looks like a little town and this time I really plan on enclosing that area to make it look really neat. All of the industry stuff is to the West and I have the buildings needed for turning resources into refined resources incircling the main production builidings so it's an easy walk. My town is pimp this time.

Oh yeah, this game kicks ass.

I did the exact same thing about halfway through, I moved all the houses to the top right corner..pretty awesome.

What do you mean by "better?" My time with the trial led me to believe that there is no "better" in this game. Do you just mean reach the conclusion faster and more efficiently? I'm not attacking you or the game. I played the trial and really enjoyed it, but I'm waiting to hear about the replayability before I buy it. All most people seem to be saying is that it's addictive, which is about as non-descriptive as a statement can be.

i believe he means more efficiently. i played for about 2 hours then completely started over because their was a quicker and more efficient way of setting up the world.

Oh crap. I downloaded the trial for this game, and it immediately had me hooked. Bought the full game right away. :lol And even though it's a little repetitive, I love the music.

Well, it helped that this game was the choice from the XBLA to fully showcase the Avatar program, really elevated it from sleeper to a main-event game.

This game needs more GAF attention, though.

It'll get more attention slowly, two from my friends asked what the game was about and said they would download the trial this week.

A slow burner is a lot better then a complete fade out.

So, after building almost everything I'm going for my final two offline achievements: Big Bully and Vanity.

Does anybody have an idea about how I can get these? I've been kicking every Kefling but that's not the way to get Big Bully. Kicking sheep also doesn't work :lol

big bully:
kick a kefling 15 times
vanity:
build a statue of yourself

hey the demo is pretty addictive is it worth it to buy this for single player?

also how's the framerate in the main game? Demo stuttering is kind of annoying.

Finally got around to the demo. Pretty cool with some decent music.
The framerate or animation is poor, can't tell which. Is this game HD? It doesn't seem it.
But anyways the game itself was fun what I played of it. I think I played the demo longer than I was supposed to.
It warned me the demo was over because I had already reached the Keflings max for the demo. I was then contemplating buying it. I got all the way to purchasing points but decided to wait until next week. So I go back to the game where the demo was supposed to end but I could continue playing. Played for another 30 minutes or so.:D
Look forward to relaxing with this game the week after x-mas.

The game really shines when you and a buddy are building a kingdom together online. The animations I think are the limits to the Avatars... But it certainly is HD. Once you get deeper into the game you will realize that they are pushing what an arcade game can do as far as the amount of stuff happening and then adding in online co-op. I was impressed at how it ran and looked considering.

the music in this game is so cheery and wonderful. whenever the loop stops or hits that quiet part i feel a little sadder. it goes well with the "i'm walkin around, building a house, doot doot doot" feel of the thing. maybe if i buy the full game it'll shit me as much as the once awesome battle music in persona 3

This game is crack. I spent the past two days rearranging my town so the production of resources is more efficient. This meant tearing down half my buildings so I could get the wood mill next to the wood carver, which is next to the column of factories that need both. I've got transporters running between them all, likewise for the crystal, rock and wool resources. Standing back and watching the production - with ~40 Kelflings zipping around everywhere - just looks epic. :lol

It's a good game to listen to a podcast to; I spent last night listening to 1up Yours while re-arranging the town.

My daughter, on the other end of the spectrum, is not nearly as far along, but she has trees and statues decorating nearly every house. It looks quite pleasant, actually, compared by my compressed industrial production facility.

Cloning Clyde got the most play of any XBLA game in our house until this one. Now my wife, daughter and myself are all vying for time with it. I'm really glad to see it selling well. Ninjabee deserves the success. GG, Ninjabee. GG.

And I still have a good ~15 buildings to go.

Loving this game, although I can't quite figure out how to harvest/make Magic Gems or Cloth.

Might be a building I don't have yet, but I seem to be stuck.

Bought it this afternoon, played for 4.5 hours straight with no break. Awesome game. I finally turned it off once I unlocked the Keep Workshop, as that is a bit daunting.

It kind of does that to you. :)

Yup. Just keep going through all of the blueprints you have unlocked, you'll get there soon.

Having enjoyed my two play throughs it's kind of weird how seemingly little replay value this game has compared to the other Ninjabee XBLA offerings. I liked my first playthrough so much I went right back to it a day or two later and started fresh, with a better layout and much more efficient production system. Ended up finishing much quicker the second time through. But now I think I'm pretty much done. Co-op seems only slightly interesting, since it's unlikely to find someone with a radically different kingdom than your own, given that you can pretty much do everything if you take long enough. Setting self goals like "get X amount of stars" doesn't seem overly appealing since again it's just a matter of time.

I'd be more than willing to buy and play any dlc, but what could they do to freshen the game up?

This seemed like a nice and relaxing XBLA game I could play late at night, but then I encountered to terrible framerate. Oh god, why on earth is it so bad?

At least the frame rate is consistently shit, except for when the seasons change and when that little window comes up where your keflings dance around you upon achieving a major milestone. So it didn't bother me that much in the end. At the beginning though I found it baffling why it had such a shitty frame rate considering it's basically a zoomed in Settlers ;P

btw does anyone else find it baffling how much they like this game considering all you're doing is walking around putting blocks of buildings together in an efficient and aesthetically pleasing manner for a bunch of little slaves that don't ever stop to marvel at your handiwork? it's a game about slowly and methodically going through a list and following the blueprint. and the thing is while playing this game which has no point, i actually end up feeling productive. it's a strange duality

Have you ever played Settlers II or Knights and Merchants? Anyone who likes KFK should really try those. Years ago I would load these games up at 7 pm and before I realized it it was 4 am. And I loved every second of it. There's a strange feeling of satisfaction building roads, houses and see all those little people go about their thing.
