The Battlefield 1943 (XBLA/PC/PSN) Official Thread

I think the camera spins you around so you are facing the direction of the player that killed you. Depending on where your body falls you may or may not be able to see them.

Yeah I've noticed that but it's not very effective. Bad Company 2 already has a kill cam implemented supposedly. All you would need to do is create more playlists which Battlefield needs anyway imo.

Has EA said anything about releasing additional maps down the line?

They've said very little on the subject. Vague hints about perhaps if its successful. The more successful it is honestly the more likely they are to do it is probably the reality.

WOW!!! I finally go to play twice in the demo and had a BLAST! So much that I bought the game! Now I just want to say fuck you to Microsoft for making me buy 1500 MS points instead of 1200.

Sniping in 1943 suffers directly from how it functions in BC. There are no center mass one-shot kills, which is ridiculous. Only 1-shot headshots, which sucks considering the amount of lag this game has going on affecting it's hit detection.

Um...I'm not sure what you're complaining about. I've been working guys left and right with the Sniper. Without the radar balls you're basically invisible. There's tons of great sniper spots. The behavior you describe is somewhat true, but saying it suffers is way off.

Also, in BF:BC the trick was to get one shot to the chest and then fire the handgun. If one handgun shot hit after the chest hit it would kill the guy. I haven't been able to recreate that here so far.

On the main EA site, on the bottom floating bar. Register an account, then go into it and click on persona and type in a XBL or PSN account name.

They really need to make this more clear because not everyone has played one of the other EA games that does it for you.

This is fucking DUMB DUMB DUMB

Can't comment on the BC bit but I haven't really had a problem with the sniping either. I've had 10+ kill streaks with no problems getting headshots. Leading your shots on moving targets is hard, it's not supposed to be easy. The biggest advice I could give someone trying to pick scout up is BE PATIENT. After awhile you'll kinda figure out player movements, when they stop to fire on targets etc and to don't even bother with body shots unless you know they've already been hit (this is great when you're watching a flag being attacked by your team...easy kill stealing :lol ). It sounds like you won't be getting a lot of kills in the long run if you just keep going for the head but trust me, it works out and you'll eventually be able to guess certain things (like where their head might be if all you've got to go on is a little red icon in a bush). You'll be pulling off bullshit shots across Wake Island on a guy in a boat in no time.

I had very few problems last night. It took a couple of tries to join a game, but once I was in, no worries.

My team was clearly just dicking around, everyone was soing whatever they wanted, and it drove one guy on my team nuts. He kept calling us all retarded and yelling at everyone to follow his lead. :lol He finally quit in disgust.

I see nothing much has changed in Battlefield since the last one I played. People queueing up for the planes and firing bazookas and grenades at your plane if you beat them to it. I left the runway with my plane already smoking several times. :lol

I guess I need to send an invite to one of the GAF groups.

I really haven't seen too much dickery, my experiences have been pretty good. I've been on a lot of winning teams too, which is nice. I actually thought planes were being underused in a lot of my games, last night I was surprised to always see at least one vacant plane on the carrier.

Does anyone know if shooting in vehicles (tank/plane/jeep/flak) affect your accuracy stats? Could explain why my acucuracy is soooo bad.

Got into a game after just eight tries this time. Went well until one round it suddenly started lagging like crazy for no good reason. The next round I got a weird visual glitch with black pieces of something flickering all over the place. Went away after a while, shortly thereafter the game froze. Normally I would be suspicious of my 360, but apparently a bunch of people have been having these issues.

Speaking of sniping, there's a perfect spot on Guadalcanal. And I'd prefer to keep it that way for as long as possible, so I won't tell you where it is. ;) You can cover a decent part of four bases, easy to spot other snipers on the hills, every now and then someone jumps on the AA gun for a free headshot, and since it takes forever for someone to spot me I'm gonna say you're pretty well covered too. It should be a pretty obvious spot, but apparently it isn't.

Had a pretty neat sniping duel with a guy. Was probably scanning for enemy snipers and then *PLOCK* said the wood of my camping site. Kind of dumb for snipers to be using tracer rounds, but hey. So I tried to dance around and not get shot until I could figure out where he was shooting from. Eventually I traced the shots back to a base on a hill far far away, but I couldn't bloody see him. Then I saw him and couldn't bloody hit him. Half of his arm was sticking out from behind some sandbags. The red spotted marker wouldn't show up. Bet he would've won eventually if hadn't made the mistake of moving to a nearby bush. BOOM HEADSHOT.

It's weird, at one point the team I was on had multiple people waiting for planes while the other side didn't have a plane in the air. Other games it was more even, with no one waiting.

It goes without saying that players waiting on the deck for a plane to spawn means your team is going to lose, but I don't think people who try to blow up their own planes on the runway to be dicks really care. :lol

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that Dice and EA will be having quite a party in honor of this game--as soon as they've got all the servers up and running, that is.

Game is starting to grow on me, having a good team really improves the experience.

Prefer the scout class at this point, sniping seems almost to easy.

Tried the old crouch on the airplane wing technique with a bunch of people last night, was hilarious and we actually made it halfway to the island on iwo jima before falling off. I was laughing out loud though at the site of 4-5 people all sitting on the wing of a plane during take-off.

Certainly I think the game is worth the $15 they are charging for it.

Hah, just had an awesome Wake game where we had all the flags and I sat in a tank by the Village destroying the boats as they came to land. Protip: go land far away from the tank. :lol

I think we finished that round in record time.

Battlefield moments back in full effect in this game. It's been awhile since Ive just wanted to pop on message boards and document all these crazy whacky rambo moments. It's also funny hearing my non PC - Battlefield experienced friends explain their battlefield moments.

The highlight of my playing today was taking out a tank +support gunner with some charges.

Long story:
So a tank + dude rolls around and I'm all alone. I play tag with it for awhile and neither dude gets the bright idea to hop out and chase me down(as a scout unless I get the drop on someone I don't have much of a chance at close range) anyway they figure I ran away or got killed and proceed to capture the base. As they leave for another one I run in and re-capture it(making sure to set bombs on the path just beforehand). Obviously they turn around and head back thus giving me two easy kills.

Must have pissed the dude off something serious because for most of the rest of the match he was the only guy I ran into. :lol As a bonus later on I non-scoped head-shotted the support gunner off his tank.

It's so much fucking fun when everything goes right. Just had an awesome experience where both sides were trying to capture bases right next to each other. Just a terrific land war.

I think I've found my niche as a jeep driver. So many people are so terrible at it. And when you have a good gunner with you, you can do some damage. It's annoying though when dumbasses would rather run half way across the map than jump into my jeep. Or when jeeps take off with no passerngers when I'm right there next you. Two people are always better than one.

Best BF2 moment was playing Strike at Karkand and the commander told all the squads to spawn at the train tracks and let them take the first few points while we lay in wait. We just let them march into our fire the whole round. Such a great game.

So I think I've fallen in love with the Scout class. Which is strange since, while I play Bad Company a lot, I never play with the Recon kit (the sniper class, essentially). I usually play as the more gung-ho classes.

Although, let it be said I try not to be one of those sissy "stay in the back and get 3-5 kills a game to protect my precious K/D ratio" snipers, I destroy any and all vehicles I can and try to capture any points that appear to be empty like any good player. I've come out on top in quite a few games thus far :)

Although today I've just been playing terribly, for every good game I have get a really bad one. There's rarely ever an in-between for me, I'm either in the top two or the bottom two. Which is amusing because it's the same way with me in Bad Company :D

Battlefield Heroes has that little "I need a ride!" whistle. Would have been nice to have that in here, I definitely could have used it more than a few times.

Bought the game on PSN last night and had a great time trying it out!

First think I notice from one night of playing is that compared to Bad Company, this game has way more people communicating with a headset. Maybe I just got lucky though.

If you want to add another gaffer to your psn friends list add me.

I'm finding the class I play heavily Dependant on the map. Wake Island? Infantry or rifle man. I can't snipe for shit on Wake for some reason. Guadalcanal? Scout ALLLLLLL day with the occasional infantry. Iwo Jima is mostly rifleman or scout. Long to medium range firefights seem to be the name of the game with occasional armor.

Are you talking about one of those outposts? I get a lot of kills up there too, and someone always get on the AA lol. You can see a good distance, and everything is perfect.

Heh.

Back in topic, i'm going to buy the game today, if some of you guys in the GAF 1943 Meta-tag see me online feel free to invite me to play if you want.

there are better uses of manufactured rage to score points with established GAF then the MS points deal.

Over 200,000 on 360 after a few days whoah!!!! Guess there's gona have to be yet more server updates. Holy SHIT!

Guess it will be blazing up on PSN too.

Great success story for digital downloads already.

this game is GREAT! yeah its just about the same old Battlefield, but thats plenty.

sooo fun when you get into a good squad with good people and friends.

annnnd my headset just broke :lol shit!

i need to get into a game with some of you dudes on my friend list and or a GAF game. one of these days...

this is already worth the 1200 pts. great stuff here.

What's the point of those planes anyway (except for shooting other planes)? I love flying really but they don't seem to be of much use. Maybe because I suck at dropping bombs. The only way I ever hit ground targets is by kamikaze.

Yeah, people are still not up to speed yet. When the games running right, fire first shot dead on, then get ready to lead the person. Still though doesn't take away from the point that those snipers shouldn't work someone when shot in the center mass chest. It does diminish the value of the sniper a bit.

I still do that in 1943, shot'n'swap, and it takes anywhere from 1-2 shots from your sidearm. It's definitely lame. I hope they address that glaring flaw in BC2. As well as fix the pistol balancing.

I'm surprised they haven't done either the kill cam from CoD4 or even old school SOCOM style in 1943. I thought they were going to add that into BC2, and would trial it in this game.

The key, young grasshopper, is to not suck at dropping bombs.

A good pilot can swing the tide of the game. They can take out tanks with one strike, the machine guns can take out single soldiers, and the bombs can clear an area of people.
