I think it was quicker than anyone had expected. Great news for those who can fly the planes well, I on the other hand suck.

Any tips on flying?

I switched the controls for planes to southpaw and I find using the cockpit view much easier than 3rd person.
 
Out of ~10 games played last night, I only saw Wake Island and Iwo Jima (and every time it would repeat the level before moving on). No Guadalcanal. Why?

It seems like the map selection is random rather than on a rotation. What's the point? There are only three maps. The worst part is playing the same map two or three times in a row.

I'll try that when I next get on. It seems to be the lack of inverse controls(oddly) and the use of the left analog stick when rotating the plane 90 degrees that throws me off. I usually end up in the sea, or in the cliffs

Guadalcanal is the worst map so you lucked out.

It'd be better if everyone didn't sit on those 2 ledges across from one another trading shots back and forth. So silly.

As for planes, definitely go first person. The turning feels really bizarre in 3rd.

You can invert the plane controls...

Pretty much.

If I can make it to a plane at the start of the game, I use it to make it to a quick flag near the air raid. Otherwise I steer clear. Hopefully the tips above will help me change that :D

I'd love Midway again. A small island at the center of the map for intense ground/air fighting, and two fleets out at sea duking it out for two flags.

So fun.

Loved playing the submarine in that map.
 
I switched my flight controls to south paw and spent a good 15/20 minutes in the tutorial flying around to get the hang of it (try going under the wake island bridges, that's fun and i reckon helps you learn to fly).

Also i fly 3rd person, except if i'm shooting another plane, then i'll switch to first and back.

It's not unlocked yet. The ticker just says it will be unlocked today. The official counter is now at 42.2m. Also, BF prizes to whover gets the 43th million kill.
 
is there any way to work around the demo expiration on psn? im not sure if im gonna pick this up and another demo run through would be appreciated...

I heard you could create a new profile and have another 30 minutes.
 
For the first time ever I was able to get into a game on the first try three times in a row. Just giving the info for people still curious about the state of the game.

But they flew into ground targets, right? These are people flying into me while I'm in a plane too. NOBODY WINS IN THAT SITUATION. It's a copout because they're shite and can't get a kill any other way. Sick of it..

The only time I've done it is when both me and someone else are flying straight toward each other, then it's kind of a game of chicken - even when we both die in that situation, it's kind of worth it just for how ridiculous it is. People who purposely fly into someone else thinking it's effective are just idiots, though.

It's effective if you bail out right before impact, then parachute directly onto an enemy flag below you and capture it.

Which is what I did a few hours ago.

(I was purposefully flying to the flag in the first place, when a guy came straight at me guns blazing, and I actually made the decision to do it)

Are you talking about head-on games of chicken? If so, I'm not sure why you're so outraged since they're mirroring you exactly. Any other kind of hot plane on plane action I've seen generally looks pretty accidental.

My biggest plane annoyance is that hit detection is kind of spotty sometimes. I've flown over hill summits on occasion and spontaneously exploded despite not making contact with anything in third person view.

I believe it's separate.

Edit: Sorry, I should be more specific. You have to choose the map, it isn't in the rotation.
 
I know this is a weird question, but does the full game on the 360 have "Legacy" controls? I've only used Legacy since GoldenEye and pretty much avoid all MP games that don't offer it (ie Shadowrun).

I DL'd the demo and no luck there. Was hoping that maybe it's in the full game or maybe an update afterwards for it.
