The Beyond Good & Evil Music Appreciation Thread (sorry, 56k)

The only thing that really bugs me about this game is the title. The evil involved is so utterly transparent and straight forward so soon into the game that the title alone left me expecting complexities that never happened. Perhaps it makes more sense in French.

The Xbox and PS2 versions are bigger so obviously something was compressed for the Gamecube version. Although since oneself mentioned the gcn version doesn't have the french language track that probably explains the size discrepancy. But who knows wether other stuff was compressed(if other stuff was compressed it was most likely the audio).

The Gamecube versions only contained two language each, there were at least three different versions in Europe (English&Spanish, French&Dutch, German&Italian, if I remember correctly). I guess the PS2 and XBox versions contained all the languages on one disk.

Are there "official" names for the tracks? I see them called different things in different places... also, is there a correct track order (eg. from a soundtrack album or similar)?

So I have this game for Xbox, but I don't have an Xbox anymore...

I really hope they make this BC soon or else I'll have to hunt down the cube version.

Yeah I loved this game on my Xbox. Really makes you wonder why they didn't market it the way they are marketing Assasin's Creed. If I had to describe the game in one word it would be "cozy". Love the artstyle.

The music is very good too. I play it from time to time and it always gets me.

The game was a complete package; an engaging world you could explore, fight through, sneak through, take snapshots of, and race in. It had a little bit of everything and all components where done both simply and correctly. It was something of an interactive cartoon and really I think that animators like Pixar and Dreamworks should have paid more attention to the warm reception of this particular game.

At the very end, when the last boss falls, Jade smiles in a way that she never did through the whole game and I remember it to this day as being a very satisfying accomplishment. It proves that the player has come to appreciate the character, that the emotional bond that so many developers strive to make with their creation has been established. It was a subtle and masterful way to end a very well designed title.

BG&E was a great game to pass off to novice or new gamers. There were so many gamestyles but none were too deep or overwhelming. It was a great mixed platter of tastes.

Ancel wanted to call it Between Good & Evil. Not sure that changes much, however.

With the release of the first teaser trailer for Beyond Good and Evil 2 it seems like a nice time to go back (after I checked with a mod about bringing back old threads) and bring up Jaded Alyx's freaking awesome thread on Beyond Good and Evil's soundtrack.

For one, you get to hear all the classic tracks from the first game (Home Sweet Home, Hyllian Suite, Propaganda and Redemption are favorites of mine) and as a side bonus you get to see all the GAFfers begging for a sequel who finally got their wish this last week. I don't suppose that there is any news yet if Christophe Heral will be involved with the new project as well? I'd love to have him back for the next go-around with Ancel.

He's confirmed he is indeed back. I'm lazy and can't be bothered to find the link though :D
