The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

After about an hour of co-op, i gotta say that this game is pretty bad-ass. So much humor and the action is top notch. It's a shame i haven't played the original. I must be missing a lot of the in jokes.

So much humor? I didn't laugh at the "ROFL - Get up off the floor" joke, I thought it was...kind of lame.

so sorry to be "that guy" but i swear i looked and didnt find it

did we ever find out what that special PSN thing was supposed to be? I don't know if I should get the 360 version tonight or the PSN version tomorrow.

No we didn't?

Unless the Xbox 360 version doesn't have a medal section that was in the japaneese demo I downloaded.
Will get this game..one day...

Yup. One thing about old school style games is that once you figure out the pattern, you'll probably kick yourself for not figuring it out earlier :lol

Starting a mission completely from the beginning when you lose all your lives is a relic from the 80s that should be left behind. I'm losing the will to even bother because I've got to the first fucking boss twice now and died there.

And God, the V-Sync is so awful. Why are Capcom always so guilty of this?
Man up.
Nice avatar.

Looks like a lot of people in here have never played Bionic Commando before.

I've gotten up to the final level and it's a pain in my butt. It doesn't help that it wasn't in the original NES version, so I can't really rely on previous knowledge of what to do in it either. Gahhhhh! Stupid disappearing and reappearing platforms.

Hmmm I stuck on Area 05's boss and I'm not sure what to do..

The A3 MAMA right
According to enemy intel, you have to force it to go forward/backward to reveal its flashing weak tread. If the tread is directly on the ground, just toss a grenade near it and it'll take that out. Next get the vehicle to try and ram you, then use your arm to unscrew the three screws on its face. Two upper screws and one mid-level screw. After that give the driver a face full of lead.

so on the dark cave level, should I go to the other area to get the flares first, or can I even do that

Yeah snag those first. You dont really have to take down the stages in a specific order, but some do require items.

Hah that's fucking awesome. Just beat it, favorite boss yet. :)

Is it possible to purchase from the US store from Europe? Or am I way off on that? I at least hope they put up a demo on PSN somewhere, this shit's ridiculous.

Yes you can buy US Store stuff from Europe. The demo is up on JP Store.

Yeah, people do it all the time.

It's probably not that cut-and-dry. Or is it?

Its not. Same as Soul Calibur IV, it basically comes down to controller preference. If you can deal with either, just get it on the system of your choice.

Now it doesnt even matter what system you want the 3d game for, since Rad is unlockable via an old school code.

Hadn't seen it posted, but 1up review is up: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3169338

Hmmmm.....

The remixes are clever embellishments, transforming three-channel NES wavetable melodies into something wholly appropriate

I don't think the reviewer knows what "wavetable" music is...the NES certainly didn't have it.

The 1UP Review said:
the rocket launcher has enough drawbacks that it won't be the player's standard gear after it's acquired in area five.

Boo! They should have respected the original. The Rocket Launcher's abusable bad-assery was part of the fun.

You're not launching a rocket into Hitler's face at the end so hard that his skull explodes into bloody gibs

Hiss! Why would they change/leave out some of the best stuff? Hopefully I won't be too disappointed.

In the original game, it was entirely possible to do that level without the flares. It was hard but doable.

Its doable but...newcomers probably should go get the flares.

Also whats the point of having that many boss entrances in the sewers?

Medals section? There is an achievements section in the 360 version, so i'm guessing medals replace that on the PS3, and that transfers into trophies?

Soundtrack links added to the OP.

Dont forget 1up's review score of A.

Some of the best tracks are:
Bionic Commando Main theme
Bionic Commando 8-bit to Rearmed trailer theme
Heat Wave
Killts Hidden Treasures
Amongst Allies
Leap of Faith

EDIT: Since secrets hold over through various playthroughs, is it best to wait till you have all equipment+secrets before trying to up your score on the stage?

I'm really enjoying this game. Never played the original Bionic Commando. Kicking myself for that after playing this gem. Also I LOVE the back-and-forths that Spencer has with the bosses. Hilarity.

Also, why did this game get an M? Maybe I'm not far enough but this seems like an E game to me. :/

Why not try it with the analog stick on 360? It works very well.

I'm stingy with spending my MSFT pts, but after sampling this bought it immediately. I especially like those extra challenge missions (though unlike the VR missions in something like MGS2, I doubt it will be the only thing I like about the game). Can't wait to dig in later.

I played both the PSN and XBLA version. I have no problems with either controller.

Comparing now (both demos).

-360 has an extra loading sequence for some reason.

-At the very very beginning of the 360's parachute sequence there is a slight tear in the blue sky. You can barley notice it.

-360 is brighter and more colorful.

-Shadows are softer on PS3 and more pixelated or sharp on 360, depending on how you want to look at it. PS3 looks more natural though, imo.

-Foliage on the ground looks better on 360. Looks like they didn't water the lawn on PS3. Grass looks dead and pieces are missing.

-PS3 has better sound quality. Bass hits harder, sounds are more distinct (barrels I noticed especially), and everything is generally louder.

-Rumble is faster/sharper on 360, slower/more dull on PS3.

-Controls are good on both, yet I feel more comfortable with the PS3 controller (D-pad). This is the reason: In a crouching position it's easier to turn yourself around by accident with the 360 controller. Any slight variation in the way you are pressing down will cause your character to turn. This is much harder to do with the PS3 controller, where you actually have to press part of the left or right portion of the d-pad to turn around.

That confirms it for me. I'm waiting and getting the PS3 version. It's not horrible at all, but I can see the 360 d-pad giving me a slight headache once the game starts getting more difficult. Every so often I will crouch and be turned around. I don't need that. Other than that, they are both full of pros and cons. Neither version being perfect.

Hope this helps some people.

I tried the X360-demo, and I didn't really have any issues with the stick at all. Seemed fine to me. Haven't tried the PS3-version though, so yeah, it might still be better with d-pad.

Shadows on the 360 version are horrendous

Coworker brought his HDD in and we played some co-op - so awesome. Stocked up on the 1600 point cards at Target at lunch, picking this up for sure when I get home.
