The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

I miss accidentally shooting in the safe zones and then the military just starts coming out of nowhere trying to kill you. Oh well, can't complain too much since the rest of BCR fucking rules all over my face.

Holy crap at no Steam version. I wonder what they couldn't agree on.

I don't know, but Lost Planet: Colonies is still not on Steam either and I started seeing the game in stores two weeks ago. Something is up with Steam/Capcom...

Apparently, the NA PSN is updated already.

BC Full Game and Demo

NHL, Joint Strike, and Tiger Woods demos
SF Alpha, BC vidoes, Mirrors Edge videos
Vampire Rain, Saints Row, Madden, Legendary BCS trailers
Rock Band tracks

Lost Planet: Colonies isn't on any DD service. Apparently Capcom Japan didn't want DMC4 to be on a DD service and I'd imagine it was the same situation with Lost Planet: Colonies.

Need that store thread. Guess we have to wait until 5:30 EST. :)

btw, there's a BCR wallpaper and some themes available, too

Got a link?

I DL'd the game yesterday, and I'm impressed, but I thought the graphics would be more detailed. I thought the cave was different on the NES version, but I could be wrong.

That first boss was hard to figure out at first.

I can't wait to see Capcom blame piracy on this one. You know what, Valve probably looks at Audiosurf, sees how incredibly successful it's been selling tens, if not hundreds of thousands of copies, and at a $10 price point. They're probably trying to get Capcom to sell BCR at $10 as well.

Alright, a few levels into the game. It's playing nicely, although I'm not really comfortable with the quick turns with while using the arm -- like you gotta do against the boss in level two (I think it is). I'm like turning at the same time so I never shoot the arm out in the right direction, and my timing's off a bit.

I don't own a PS3, but is this really an issue?

Nah, not really honestly.

But, companies do track this stuff and they're very keen about whether or not they will release a demo of a game or not because some feel that the game would sell better without it.

I don't think this is an issue on XBLA (aren't demos of games required?)

what's the story on the gun, if you shoot a flurry of bullets at once, does it perform worse than if you shoot slow and steady?

i've just noticed that shooting can get kind of non-responsive at times.

very much doubt it since from what ive heard it uses the securom online activation protection that alone in the dark etc uses ( good move capcom )

wheres the cheapest place to buy this in europe? will D2D only charge me $14.99 and no taxes or what?

Yes, and I'd prefer if it were that way on PSN and Wiiware too so support demos.

What you're seeing is that you can only have so many bullets on the screen at a time. It was the result of a technical problem on the NES that became a part of the gameplay. In order to replicate that gameplay they've kept the limitation.

You can only shoot 2 bullets at once. If any of those bullets are still on the screen, you can't shoot anymore. If you picked up the pistol upgrade in Area 00, you can shoot 3 bullets at once. It's not non-responsive, it's just old school.

nevermind, im on a giant boss tractor thing now. Not sure how to beat em though.

You guys really really should listen to enemy intel and HQ conversations.

Hack the system soldier.

Is there a way to drop down from level to level?

Nope, gotta drop off then latch on.

well, in the demo you can also pick up the shotgun. Only can fire single shot at once, but they're powerful enough to kill a enemy. It's hidden
in the top-right corner

everyone remember to play the demo up on PSN (or at least download it) before buying the full version.

SUPPORT DEMOS FOLKS :)
Shit I downloaded the full version without thinking. What if I download the demo now? A download is a download right?

y'know, the 1942 demo just came out... AFTER the full game, and that's not the first occurence of that. Maybe some companies just don't care about it as much as you do.

So anyone beat level 12 yet?

I go down this elevator shaft and then I have to go through this small corridor with spikes at the bottom. What tchnique do I need to use to get through?

Quick, short swings. Stay glued to the roof as much as possible.

"not on steam? For fuck sake. Now where am i meant to get it from. Damn you PC gaming, you failed me this time."

Gamersgate is a great service. It may not have all the bells and whistles as Steam, but seeing as how you don't have to actually run any sort of client to play the games you buy from there, it's a great alternative if the game you want isn't on Steam (and quite a few games on there aren't) without having to run anything else to bog your system down.

And even though I pissed and moaned, I still bought the PC arbitrary buttsex tax version anyway.

So yeah.. this is pretty much the low point in my gaming career. how do you beat the boss of area 1?

edit: ah, nevermind. figured it out. these controls are pretty bad, especially in the truck top-down areas. the two stick geometry wars style I was getting tired of is suddenly sorely missed.

Just beat the game. Way awesome and worth every penny. Now I'll start the impossible task of finishing all of those Challenge Rooms. And then the higher difficulties for the main game.

don't feel bad, I had trouble with it too. I haphazardly powered through him, but a fellow gaffer explained to me that barrels block bullets

you have to hit the red lights, they start underneath him. grab a barrel and get close enough to him so that when you throw it, it hits him in the red lights. after you land this hit, he'll crash and expose his backside to you. shoot the shit out of the back panel til he gets up. now, repeat process, but this time with a barrel from the top level. remember, a barrel you're holding will block bullets

I just beat area 5, this game is filled with nosebleed levels of awesome and win. it finally clicked with me towards the end of area 4 and I have been having a blast with it ever since. LOVE the bosses

This should be added to the OP: Hack the enemy terminals in every Area to gain hints and insight into how to defeat the boss. After getting all the info, the only thing you need to defeat bosses is decent gaming ability.

Do you have to unlock the challenge rooms?

Yes. Visit each challenge terminal in each FSA camp. Also Secret Challenge rooms can be unlocked by finding secret rooms in each enemy area.

Just checked out the demo. Game looks incredible but as someone who has never played the original I was a bit shocked by the lack of a jump button. :lol

Yeah, some of the best music I've heard in a video game in a long time. I really wish that title song was longer though, it ends just as it starts getting really good.

Also I see someone said there are visual differences between the versions. Is this anything more than gamma differences and lack of screen tearing in the PSN version?

Huge issue. I can always rent a disc-based game if nothing else; if there's no demo for a digital-only game, I have absolutely no way to know how it plays before buying without a demo.
