The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

Man...if the 3d game ends up sucking or just being average after this...I dunno what to say. Really hoping its good / great so I can have more Bionic fun as Radd in a full 3d world. That and use a Bionic Commando Rearmed custom soundtrack for the MP mode.

Power Plant and Amongst Allies are to die for.

The game is not easy, but like some games *cough* GunValkyrie *cough* It's a control system that when mastered can allow you to do all sorts of crazy shit.
The core gameplay in this isn't drab, though, so mastering the controls is actually rewarding and not a waste of time.

The game rocks. Beat the first few levels and just unlocked the shotgun. Never really played the original so it's largely 100% new to me. The visuals are sublime and the music is tits. Hell, the title screen song is badass, even.

ok
MOTHERFUCKING MOTHERFUCKER

I can't get past the first level. :lol
The game is really fun and I *feel* like I can play it, but for some reason I've having more trouble with it than any other game I've played.

GRRRRRRR

GAF, what do I do?

Play the advanced tutorial until you’re comfortable with the swinging mechanic.

And whatever you do, ALWAYS enter the comm. buildings, talk to HQ and hack the enemy network. You gain life and valuable information, as well as unlock certain doors.

I played the original. I remember being stuck at a fence, or something. It had to be early in the game, because I didn't play much of it. Someone let me borrow 15 nes games. I was a kid in a candy store. Excite Bike, Nightmare on Elm Street The Game, etc. Good times.

Yeah, I've been entering the comm things and quite in enjoy the hacking minigame.
I also feel like the swinging mechanic is the only thing I "get." I can do some pretty intricate swings. But the fucking badguys always kill me!

arghghghg

What the fuck were they thinking?

Not retroactive confirmed. FUCK that.

But the 1up interview with Ben Judd said that the trophies will be retroactive when they implement them.

1UP: Are you planning on implementing trophies on the PS3?

BJ: Retroactively. It's not going to be with launch, because that firmware isn't in our hands yet. I can say that this will be the only downloadable title to have unique content per platform. There's a lot of unique content. There are some secret areas and rooms that you can only get to depending on which platform that you have. There will be some tie-in that we're going to announce later as well. On top of that, there's hidden content in the game that you have to find. There's a lot of stuff in the game.

the game is everything I hoped for so far. soundtrack is awesome, graphics awesome, gameplay is hard but rewarding. plus the remote play is super sweet (better than PJM IMHO)

Holy crap. If you add the download to your basket, then go to pay but cancel, it brings up a pop-up offering you 10% off the item you were just looking at. So, technically, you can get Bionic Commando for 13.49.

noooo i overpaid by £0.70 !! hehe seriously though, nice tip for other people

Shotgun upgrade is in 08, first room on the right side. Need to Shotgun blast while hanging to gain momentum to get up to the entrance.

Where's the Revolver upgrade?

Hah, typical my luck. I find the 3rd last secret I lack... and what does it contain? An item which makes it easier to find secrets!

Side note, does this game not support DD5.1 on PS3?! I could have sworn the demo was in 5.1, but the final game is coming up at DPLII only. What's the deal? I swear it doesn't sound anywhere near as good either (the bass in the demo was insanely deep and that isn't the case here). Very odd.

It's multi channel 5.1 (LPCM) here... ^^;

I'm really pissed they didn't lock the save files. Unless somehow the save file contains very little data, and its all being thrown up a server on the interwebs so that even if you copy it you can't get it, I'm gonna be pissed.

I'm totally not even going to dive into the challenge rooms yet. Doing all those again? Goddammit.....

I think some medals will be retroactive like the challenge room ones since your score is uploaded to a leaderboard. Other medals that can only be gained from single player mode will have to redone.

Doesn't seem like all the data could be uploaded anywhere, I mean what happens if you're playing offline?

The standard challenge rooms should be some what ok to get through. Special...I have no idea what im supposed to do :lol

Also I really need to pay more attention to my surroundings. Just found two levers in the sewer, but not sure what they do.

.

I've played through it twice now using the 360's stick and the only time it was an issue (and a minor one) was getting the Cat Burglar achievement (get to the boss in Area 05 in 90 seconds) because you have to be lined up perfectly to latch on to two towers properly. Otherwise it hasn't been an issue.

I still cant get it ( I thought it was 1 minute and 30 seconds?). Do you need any extra armor equipment or something? I can fly by the normal guards, but the droids start to gang up on me.

So basically there's unlimited continues on this one? I remember earning continue credits during the top-down sequences on the old one, but they don't seem to be anywhere in the new one. And I don't see a continue counter. Unless I'm missing something? Harder difficulty maybe? (I'm on medium).

Does anyone know what's in the room at the very top of the very first level, above the room where you get the first gun upgrade? I spent about 30 minutes perfecting the timing of swings to get up there, and then I'm in there and it's a complete WTF.

Two levers on the ceiling. I can't seem to pull them both at the same time. They reset instantly if you pull them all the way out, or slowly if you drop before they're all the way out. Is this a co-op only thing? That would be some bullshit.

Unlimited continues. They actually want people to be able to complete the game.

Yeah. The challenge rooms are the new impossible. :)

The best thing about the challenge rooms is that practicing with them will help you a lot in trying to successfully get to the secret areas in the normal stages, which will result in unlocking MORE secret challenge rooms. It's really awesome. :D

It's Co-op only. It unlocks Friendly Fire once you get the two people to open the lever. I don't think it even counts toward database completion, so don't worry about missing it.

Grenades and the shotgun momentum move really flesh out the game mechanic, I'm really impressed. I'm enjoying this remake a ton, and I've only been playing the Single Player campaign so far.

Yup, the challenge rooms build excellent reflexes and muscle memory.

On a side note, I found myself knowing exactly where to fall or grapple in most areas because of the NES version I haven't played in 20 years. Damn this game fargin' rocks.

Boo-yah. Fuck you Secret Challenge Room #5! An hour and a half later, I'm one of six people to completed it on the 360 version :D

I didn't get real deep via remote play (just swung around and shot up a bit of the first level, no rockets) but it seemed very smooth. I thought the picture looked very clear as well. I was playing directly on my wireless network too, not over inet. I wasn't expecting much based on past experience but i'm happy with remote play so far. i'll do more tomorrow after work and post the results...

You can find 1-ups on top down stages if you need them. Look at your inventory to see if you're full or not.
