The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

If you gung-ho that part, frantically trying to get across, it is a whole lot harder than if you just watch the order of the floorboards and just go on that path. The far left part goes in a zig-zag Z-looking pattern, and that's where I died a lot until I went at a normal pace and in the order of the boards, and the part was really easy then.

Finished the game last night

The platform puzzle on the outside was nowhere near as intimidating as it initially looked. There's no complicated sequence to memorize or anything, just gotta find a platform to stand on, and go across them one at a time

I did bring 10 lives this time around, just to make sure :lol

the leader's helicopter
was a different story. took 5 tries to take it down

Does anyone else find it absolutely ludicrously hard to get 5 stars in challenge mode? On the first 4-5 rooms I did them as perfect as I possibly could and still only got 4... what do I have to do BC WHAT!

IT'S OVER!!! I finally beat "The Leader"
(Hitler!)
last night on Hard (my first play through). Sweer jebus was that a relief. I stockpiled Extra lives before runnining in (each FSA level, each truck, and the 2 really easy ones to get in "The Docks" and "The Construction Site"). After getting to the fight with 18 lives.... it only took 3 tries to kill him. I found that hilarous considering I have been beating my head against that wall for the last week.

I did change up my strategy for him a little, only because I never (NEVER) saw his lazer attack more then once every 15 deaths. If you hug one of the extreme sides of the level you can make one of the "lower" missles shots useless. This saved me so much frustration only having to worry about the other high / low shots. Of course, if he traps you with the lazers your screwed, so beware (I never had to deal).

Also, Remote missles made the other BC guy a joke. He is so much easier then dealing with that shielded, un-killable guy from the NES BC. Spectacular game. Now I just need to go back on Super Hard.

I did notice something wierd though. On one of my previous "run through the entire Albatross to be 3-shot by The Leader" plays, I got that
hidden emblem in the last "power switch" room
. When I beat the game, I did not go back and get it on that specific run, and when checking my file after the credits I did not have it in my Database. Do you have to get it and beat the game in the same set (no continues)? If so, good lord. Or can I just go back into that level, get to that point and then call for extraction to save?

Also, if you start a new game (say.. on Super Hard), does it erase all your old database info (I noticed it said it will erase my save information)? I'd hate to have to get all the unlocked Next Gen BC stuff again on Super Hard, it was a headache enough on Hard.

Your database info stays intact even after starting a new game, so don't fret!

From the Bionic Commando website:

While I have to admit, throwing out a number like 100,000 seemed pretty overzealous after seeing how hard digital titles are to sell, I still hoped we could reach that lofty goal. Boy, did I miss the mark.

7 days -- over 130,000 units.

Holy fiddlesticks!

That may not seem impressive compared to package titles that sell in the millions but compared to other digital titles that is a friggin JUGGERNAUT!

...Consumers voted with their dollars. They basically have sent the message loud and clear:

We are tired of meta-emulated crap.
We want the titles of yesteryear to be paid the proper respect.
We want them done right.
And if the price is right, we'll buy.

I like that message. It's like a cry for battle. Which developers shall heed the call.

Now, to stop sucking and actually beat the last two levels.

Except this was a multiplatform release so the numbers arent that impressive, and while this may look positive in the short term, when the NES styled minimum effort Megaman 9 comes out for the same price and sells 5-10 times as much, we're back to square 1 again

Well hopefully the sales arent frontloaded and do some decent numbers. I really do want this game to sell. Its awesome, but I'm worried this crazy month of XBLA awesome might have an adverse effect on sales. I dont think its wrong to worry about the impact MM9 will have on these higher budget remakes either, though.

Great, great fricking news. I was actually worried that the masses wouldn't like / notice the awesomeness that is BC:Rearmed. As long as they consider it a success, I'm happy. MOAR PLS!

Next, Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter. :D

Oh man, and This. Also, Bumpkin's suggestion.

And would I be the only one that wants an updated Battletoads (and or) Double Dragon? I don't know why, but after playing Yakuza I want a killer beat-em-up for some reason. Hell, just remake Bad Dudes. I want to save the President from Ninjas again.

I hope MegaMan 9 flops hard on XBLA/PSN/PC. Capcom's been doing some great stuff with downloadables and it would be a shame if all that comes to an end because WiiWare is a gimped service. I for one won't buy it.

You can hate on MM9 all you want, but I'm still all for it.
Same here, I actually think Mega Man 9 looks better than Bionic Commando. BC looks too "next-gen generic" for my tastes. Though I'll give it that it does manage to use more colors than your average FPS; not that that's a feat, mind you, since that would require using more than two colors. It's an awesome game, but I think there's a place for both graphic styles.

You think Mega Man 9 will sell more than 1 million in the first week? :lol

Anyway, good to see that Ben confirms the controls are analogue and plays best with the analogue stick (which is what I always thought):

The controls are analog so you will have the easiest time with the analog stick. We added the D-pad in there as an "optional" control scheme for old school gamers that wanted to experience the game like it was back in 1988

http://www.bioniccommando.com/en/blog_entries/view/353

I must disagree.

I found the PS3 d-pads way better than the analog sticks.
Though, the analog sticks were better than the 360 d-pad.

Also, 130,000 for a 3 platform release? Mmmm, not gonna say that's great, even for digital. Really comes down to how much money they put into it.

The game is a more comfy to play with the stick, but whenever I need some high precision, especially in the challenge room, it's dpad all the way, it's much faster and precise.

That said, most of the timing relies on pressing the Bionic Arms button, not using the dpad or the stick.

Have 4 more challenge rooms to finish, Torture, Twist and Turns, and the last 2. I can't make the last 'jump' in Twist and Turns, always hit the spikes :[ and don't even know what to do for Torture..haven't tried the last 2 yet

I think I'm about to give up on this game, I keep dying over and over in the Docks stage. Ugh, the last game I gave up on was Vagrant Story(had to use a gameshark to beat it.)

anyone have any tips for challenge room 18: trial and error? i can't clear this level for the life of me. had no problems with the rooms leading up to it...

Practice canceling your swings (down on dpad) at the right time so you don't swing too far and knock yourself into the spikes.

Pretty much 500 000 USD according to Ben Judd. If they made 8 dollars per DL (they probably made close to 9, but going with 8?) that's a little over 1 million dollars in 7 days for a 500 000 dollar investment.

That's a stage I was stuck on for a good two days for some reason and after that it gets easier (well, except for the Albatross I guess). Just keep at it.

FUCK the game froze on the Saving screen, so I had to quit the game manually and it corrupted my save data. This is the SECOND time this happened... I didn't mind the first time cause I wasn't that far into the game. I only had THREE Challenge Rooms I hadn't completed yet. :( I'm on PS3 btw.

This happened to me as well. It appears that it is a problem when registering stats to the PSN.

Alright I was wondering if it was only on my end. Capcom needs to patch this thing before I start playing again.

How is it that I can be in the top 100 (top 10 for a couple!) or at least 4 star most challenge rooms, but can't complete another perfect swing or even reach out? I just can't even do that basic skill...it's like I learned to run before I could stand...

Oh and to my "friends" on PSN, your challenge times are pathetic. I laugh in your face! :lol

I just need more hardcore friends I guess

Game is bullshit i tell you! Damn bosses :lol

Good game, not a huge fan of the actual controls, even though i know they are the same as the original game. I'm just not used to holding forward to do a straight arm reach and doing nothing for a diagonal, it all feels backwards. Also wish u could fall down through platforms, would help alot.

You'd think that would just be common sense, wouldn't you? Unfortunately, it seems common sense is anything but common.

But I tip my hat to Grin, for they truly 'get it'. Their making of videos demonstrated that clearly (worth checking out if you haven't already seen them), as did Rearmed itself. I really look forward to their next project.

I have the 360 version and pc version..im dig'n the pc version better..just because the gamestop/madcatz brand 360 wired gamepad seems to work better for the game..also i can tweak the crap out of my 9800GX2 vid card to add a few effects the 360/ps3 version dont have.. looks REALLY NICE.. although the max rez im playing the game at is 1920x1080P since i have a home theater PC.. using my HDTV as my PC's monitor..very nice i must say :D

This is the controller i use for the pc.. mine is black in color..

Man, I wish I didn't just start school. I only have a few more achievements to get (clear Super Hard, Block 100 shots, Hacker, and Cat Burgler[impossible]).

Still waiting for those trophies, Capcom.
