Did they say when they would release the trophie patch?
No :/

How do I play the second level? Green chip? Huh?

You don't do the levels in order. If you don't have what you need to access a level, move on to the next until you find what will you need and then go back.

my brain. is going to. explode.

how the hell are you supposed to do the challenge room "optional"? i can't finish 3 of them, but at least on the other 2 i know what im supposed to be doing. 397 tries and not even close! also, i can't beat level 1 on
super
hard T_T this game is owning me

oh man I'm on the final stage in hard mode...

Hard mode... is not hard at all, everybody who has trouble on normal mode is a scrub!!!

however
climbing the outside of Albatross... with mother freakin TURRETS everywhere!!!!!
not easy....

Leader's Helicopter! Is it actually possible to dodge the laser attack?
.

look at the path it's going in and run the same path as it does... I cant remember exactly since I beat it like 2 weeks ago but it's a very simple pattern

It's so strange how I hated this game back on the NES, but love it so much now. All the reviewers complaining about the difficulty and old-school mechanics can blow me, this game rocks! I demand an online co-op patch and a sequel!

I've finished all the hard levels and am seeking out all the yashichi's before heading on to the Albatross again. I can't remember where the one in Area 6 'The Docks' is for some reason.

And last night I got ranked #13 on the PSN leaderboard for challenge #54 (One by One)!

But I still haven't completed 'Reach Out'. Lol.

Just got this, very mixed impressions thus far. They completely redid the visuals yet for reasons unknown decided to keep some pretty terrible gameplay mechanics. When theres a barrel right next to me I can't jump over it? Seriously? But when I use my arm I fly right through it?

The arm only firing at 45 degree intervals feels archaic as well. I really wish the default gun didn't require you to press down each time you want to fire, thats just stupid and has no reason to be in the game.

Apart from those (none of which is close to gamebreaking) running into "vehicles" in the map screen is seriously annoying. I've done the same retarded level like 5 times now, its not fun at all.

The overall game could use some explanation as well. Am I supposed to do the levels in order? I started a level and couldn't get past a wall 4 seconds into it. Is figuring out the order of the levels part of the challenge? Am I supposed to buy new weapons? Why are there so many friendly bases? It seems like the game gets to pass on some obvious flaws "because its a remake".

I wonder how the great debaters of old would feel about coherency being replaced by laughing smilies. If you have something meaningful to say, say it, if not, shut up.

I bought the game for Windows and holy shit is it hard to use the keyboard for. I could hook up a Xbxo360 gamepad but I'm going to map the game to my WiiMote instead. Will be like playing it on a NES controller... NICE!

I'm enjoying the game, but it's unnecessarily difficult and convoluted in a lot of places - For me and my expectations at least. I mean, I don't have time to game everyday, so I was hoping the game was more like a pick-up-and-play than a "Pin-point-accuracy-or-you'll-die-a-million-times-game", which it is now (At least in the later levels).

I was actually going to counter-argue your post until I realized how ridiculous it was. I thought the laughing smilies were quite fitting. And "shut up?". This is a forum.

4 :lol smilies (or 5.. or 10!) say more than a thousand words on GAF.

As for the haters:
The game requires you to learn its rules, and that may take some time depending on your skill. If you don't have that time, the game is probably not for you.
I learned and FUCKING LOVED this game, and I have never played the original BC so there's not even nostalgia here.

All games should subscribe to the "learn my rules or fuck off hater" philosophy. Why bother explaining anything when thats just the challenge of the game!

You have to press a button for each bullet to shoot, when holding the button down should simply continually fire. Its annoying in a lot of older games and existed seemingly to sell those retarded "turbo" controllers.

Oh, you mean like the tutorial in Bionic Commando: Rearmed?

Thing is. You don't have to like this game. We all have different kind of games we prefer. It's okay!
(You bring up some pretty weird points though)

I've just started, and all the tutorial did was explain the arm mechanics. I don't dislike the game, but it has some pretty obvious problems right from the get go. Why can't I jump down through platforms? Why can't I shoot up?

You just NEED to find something to bitch about in this game right?
You get a weapon later on that does continually fire, btw. You'll probably bitch about the fact that it has to reload though. Another weapon even charges up when you hold the button!

Why the fuck would I want to spam a button when I could just HOLD IT DOWN? Its annoying and its stupid, period.

Hmm. I think you have a problem with the general game design of the game. Maybe this isn't your type of game. It's like you're trying to play a genre you hate..

Wow, and I thought that I was lazy. You need to tap the button three times to kill a guy, it's not that hard really. Later on you'll kill people with your swings and grapples anyway.

It has nothing to do with being lazy, its an obvious oversight that would be called out in any 2d shooter today. Of course its not welcome here because this thread is a giant circle jerk.

I just feel I need to ask this for the good of mankind.. Have you ever played a sidescroller before?

What an obnoxious question, please inform me of the good reason the gun should work that way. Sure, its not that big of a deal, but since you guys are so adamant about defending every aspect of this game, lets hear the excuses roll in.

Because most guns are semi-automatic. Because it's all about the game design. Because it's a remake. There aren't many fully automatic handguns out there, mind you..

But especially, because this really is a design choice. And you'll probably understand a bit more if you keep playing the game. Oh and there are multiple weapons in this game.

The parallel between firing an actual gun and shooting orbs at enemies is ridiculous. If you want to go "there" the vast majority of FPS's will continually fire pistols by simply holding a button down, including HL2 and Halo.

Holding the button down should continually fire the gun, the fact that people are even arguing otherwise just shows how ridiculous you all are.

Basically this game is not for you Mr.Heretic. Do not play this game.

No, he's not for the game. There's a reason there are demos out, that first level showed every complaint you have and could've saved you the purchase.

Guess what, Bionic Commando isnt a FPS. Its not about the mindless gunning down of legions on enemies, its about tactically swinging from platform to platform picking them off. You might as well be saying "OMG Why doesnt Halo have a DMC combo/gun juggling system for the plasma sword?!?!?!?"

It is also a faithful remake of a NES GAME. It has the classic Megaman mechanic of only having 3 of your shots on screen at once. You cannot jump because THAT IS THE POINT. You have to carefully grapple your way up the enemy bases, thinking about where you are going. This isn't a run+gun, its a tactical platformer.

This game is not that kind of game where you have to deal with tons of enemies with rapid fire.

Kind of agree with this, pretty pointless mini game IMO.

Someone said that this game couldn't fit on the 256MB Memory Unit that comes with the Arcade, is that true? Or does everyone have hard drives and thus they don't care?

Fargin' thing. It just corrupted my save file. Again. That's the third time. It always happens when I leave a challenge room.

Anyone else have this happen to them? PS3 version...

Wrong.

In my opinion, Holding the button down should continually fire the gun, the fact that people are even arguing otherwise just shows how ridiculous you all are.

Fixed.

Back in the NES days we called this cheating....if only you had the NES Advantage with Turbo!!!

PS - this game is a FATIHFUL remake of one of greatest NES games of all time...if they added an auto fire button or a jump button the game would be completey worthless. If you can't take the heat get out of the arcade.

You've made it painfully obvious with several idiotic posts that you have no grasp on game design whatsoever. There is no explaining to you why you shouldn't have a jump button, let alone turbo fire or any of the other things you bring up, because that much should be immediately obvious to anyone who puts more thought into their gaming beyond, "OOH THAT WAS A COOL GAME HUR HUR!"

Your kind are a scourge on the industry.

You did well up to this point.

What can I say, I don't pull punches. His criticisms were dumb and lacked any insight into why Bionic Commando is Bionic fucking Commando. He tried to entirely deconstruct the game in one fell swoop because he obviously lacks the ability to understand games beyond their most superficial level, so I called him on it.

People like him are the reason the industry is flooded with games that do nothing but cater to the lowest common denominator of gamers. Bionic Commando is not one of those games.

yeay~!!! beat Hard Mode last nite.

I dont kno what it is about the final boss in hard mode but I had a lot of trouble with it!!!

I died quite a few times on him, it was to the point where I could beat the rest of the stage without getting hit (except by those got damn
TURRETS!!
)

so... I only have 2 medals left to get! Beat All the Challenge Stages and Beat Super Hard...

will be saved for a rainy day.
