The Crew Beta codes has been sent, post here your impressions

The world map in this game is pretty damn amazing. I've just been lost for hours just road tripping around the country. Really impressed.

How accurate are the cities?

not close at all here is me on the Beach South Beach Miami https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0JVii6BTqU&list=UU7CDBg7SuuKMMLpSIsMMnAQ

I like South Beach Miami but all the cities in game cut corners missing lots of detail sure things are renamed but there is a lot missing I wish this was not USA because all the cities I have visited and walked downtowns in are very poorly done in this game

the world is huge but I would loved a game this huge focused on just 5 cities with higher detail

Handling's turrrrrible. Feels like you don't get any response until you push the analogue stick like 70% of the way to the left or right, which makes weaving between traffic feel mushy and awful. No sense of speed, no real weight transfer or anything to make cornering the slightest bit enjoyable. It doesn't feel like you can control a drift with the accelerator, the way you can in something like Dirt or Driver SF; you kind of just hit the handbrake and hope for the best. It's just rubbish.

That. If I hit a corner, I'm guaranteed to get knocked off the road.

Cutscene graphics are nice though.

Troy Baker using his "Delsin Rowe" voice doesn't fit that character's appearance either IMO.

Also don't get the whole "go to this tower to sync with our secure, encrypted servers" thing at the start of the game. It gives me a Watch_Dogs feel and I don't think it's necessary. Can't the NPC give me an address of something I can put in the GPS?

Didn't like it. I found the frame rate was terrible (ya beta I know). After I completed the prologue and the game was installing extremely slow so I left it at that.

How do I get into free mode again? I've done the first few missions and got to a point I could buy a car, but it still won't let me drive outside Detroit.

Is it installing? I think I had to leave it on for a long time just to open up the map...

It reminds me of Watch_Dogs in a ton of ways. Even the cell phone interface to mess around with the options and the radio, the driving is eerily reminiscent of some of the loose handling and the Satellites to open up pieces of the map.

I like just cruising about- I hope some friends get this, so we can just drive peacefully without any set objective together.

Should be Crews'n USA

Good game. I preferred Rush more though.

I am going to buy this game but just downloaded NFS Rivals playing a little and damn Ubisoft needs to release a texture upgrade lol

I love that you can climb a really tall mountain in the crew using a Street car not Dirt mind you off-road that is what I did in one of my videos lol

awesome this game has promise for the future but the graphics will cause it to bomb

From the hour I played:

+
Map size
Variation of game modes

-
Poor visuals
Controls
Voice acting
OTT camera sway
Menu system looked bad

I've been grinding to buy the Nissan skyline from the NY store (100,000 for stock model). Replaying the "watching paint dry" mission over and over. Every mission and side mission pays out around the same ( just under 1,200), and its taking awhile to build up the funds. Pretty pricey for one of the lower tier cars.. A quick check in the stats screen show after completing all missions available in this beta along with a bunch of skill challenges, in total i've earned around 40k.. and im starting to get worried this game is going to revolve around micro transactions.

I've not played this beta but it sounds like things haven't changed from the one they ran in the summer.

It seems like they've came up with a concept which clearly got a lot of people onboard but with no thoughts on how it's going to work as a full blown game. The beginning, at least, of the story is nonsensical; the handling, which I was hoping to be like Driver:SF, felt horrific and it looked atrocious.

Hopefully things change prior to release but this is all shaped up to be the let down of the holidays.

Got to the mission called, Harry. You can't play it,as you have to be level 11.

The beta has definitely grown on me, but it ain't anything special.

Well, did the prologue and couldn't play at all after that, INSTALLING at 24%. Waiting for completion would take hours. It's been two days, it can't do that in standby or something? Fuck, would've really liked to explore and get a bit more familiar with the game. Now all i got out of this is that it seems possibly pretty cool but feels too choppy to be a buy.

Wow, yeah...not even remotely close. The width of the roads is hysterically wrong too. Roads down there are so narrow.

I got an email with an Xbox One beta code yesterday. Since a generous Gaffer already gave me a code I now have an extra one. PM me if you'd like it.

On my phone so I can't type much but I feel like I'm opposite of everyone else. I'm really liking it. I got used to the handling really quick. The graphics aren't great but it seems like there's a lot to do.

Anyone else having overscan issues? Part of the HUD is cut off. There are no settings for it. Never had this problem on any other PS4 game.

same problem here, but after editing some settings in the tv menu everything was fine...changed screen format from 16:9 to auto adjust

Samsung 6470 Series here

Played some more. This is a very poor game in my opinion. The handling, the world, the graphics, the menus, the story, are all things definitely not good, but I kept playing to see if there was something to like. Then I was really struck by the talking animations of the character portraits in the car (the character is shown in a portrait as he/she called you to give a new mission). I watched that, and my brain yelled "I'm out!".

I'm having fun with it, the road trip is very fun, but i'd like to have more races in each city instead of so many mini-challenges :/

Man some of those damage the other car up are kinda hard but fun once you get them lol...just got the story mission to drive from Detroit to St-Louis...Liking this game more and more.

XB1 impressions

Tried it first on Friday with a controller and hated the way it handled. I do like how they made the right stick a sequential shifter, something other games should copy. But I put it down and waited to give it another shot with my wheel.

Fast forward to today, not only does it have the least informative calibration settings for wheels, but it didn't work at all. When I first started the FFB was way to heavy, so I went in to adjust the settings and when I went back into the game it was like it wasnt registering the wheels inputs anymore. I would have to turn the wheel 600 degrees to turn the car slightly, and after that the wheel would spin back and forth on its own like it was trying to calibrate itself. I was worried my wheel was broken so I had to fire up Forza to see if it was. No its just the game, you only get 1 first impression and the Crew did not have a good one for me, Which is sad because I genuinely wanted to like it.

The more I upgraded the car the more satisfying the driving became. It's not gran turismo or forza, but i think they did themselves a disservice by making the starter driving feel like driving on ice. Also they need to upgrade the rumble feedback to feel the road more and add more peaks and valleys on city roads. When I reach a city it feels like a complete flat surface. To those who didn't like the driving, did you get to at least level 10? I don't know if am imagining things but I want to know if the driving actually got better by upgrading the car enough.

It was okay.

I can see some mindless time-wasting fun. It's not going to edge out any other games for my time though. Glad I got it on sale.

I do this with every racing game that allows me to calibrate controls, especially Gran Turismo.

Car upgrades definitely make a difference. I did a jump challenge and got a tire upgrade that gave +Grip. What a difference. I can go around curves and stay in lane now! Amazing!

This game is growing on me. I definitely won't pay full-price for it, but I could see picking it up cheap for something mindless and relaxing.

Also, I haven't seen all of the map, but from what I have, I think they've done a pretty good job capturing the spirit of the regions and cities. I'm impressed by that.

Agreed. After some upgrades, the cars feel much better. Add the steering options to that, and I'm sure you can get the game to feel close to the way you want it to.
