The Crysis 2 Experience: Part 1 - Road Rage - XBox 360 - Gameplay Trailer

Well it's using the same AA solution as Halo Reach, so that comes as no surprise.

Texture filtering doen't seem to be that great either. But the lighting seems to be the best in the genre.

Yeah, said that myself a bit earlier. Really impressed with the lighting.

So far every video clip I have seen of Crysis 2 has had nothing but tiny linear maps. And no, Crysis 1 was in no way linear. It had objectives not choke points. Most of that video was 25 fps at best as well.

Maximum disappointment. I dont know how anyone can even try to claim that the tiny maps arent because of this game being on consoles. The terrible single player framerate even with as small as the maps are is all the proof we need. This franchise has taken a huge step back.

I really dislike that ghosting crap that's in Reach. What is the benefit to that implementation over similarly demanding alternatives?

Simple, the game being on consoles is a symptom rather than the cause. Its quiet obvious this generation that big budget AAA games are focus tested and streamlined to appeal to as many people as possible to drive huge sales numbers on consoles. Blame the free market I guess and the companies that try to cater to it, not the fact that its on consoles.

there are no similarly demanding alternatives, it's used because it's cheap and allows for better real time lighting engines to be used

Holy shit this looks SICK and FUN to play!

The sound is really impressive too! God damn.. and here I thought it was just going to be a soulless tech demo.

The settings looked a little more streamlined than what I remember from the first one
that I played using OnLive
. Maybe it was just a show piece they were proud of but it didn't seem like there were that many options that looked interesting.

Invisibility is just kind of lame :\

What console game does all that?

Oh, quite a few. But if we're only talking about the best of the best I nominate Uncharted 2 and GoW3. Both have a level of polish Crysis 2 can only dream of. Dunno about KZ3 framerate.

While the fps for the single player is all over the place (and imo unplayable low without using a controller) the fps in the multi is a rock solid 30 fps. Just want to make sure console gamers dont base their complete impressions on just this footage.

Graphics kinda looked crappy to me in the vid.

Definitely not the best looking 360 FPS.
Bwha?

What else competes? Halo Reach? That's the only FPS I can think of that comes remotely close.

Ever so slightly, it runs at the same resolution as Halo 3.

And oh yes! all 4 games are graphical beasts as you say and it's all down to artistic taste.
You mean Reach, not Halo 3. Although that may just be the MP, because the config file for 360 says the it's 1280x720 o_O Maybe someone can pixel count this video.

I have to say it looked crappy to me as well - when I was streaming it from YouTube on my PC. But a Gamersyde video on a big screen is a whole different story. Well, apart from those trees popping up, that does look wonky.

I don't play on PC. So its console for me. I am just more curious as to why there is no PS3 footage shown. Must be pretty bad.
Crytek has a special relationship with Microsoft, apparently. There hasn't been any high-end PC level settings shown, either. Only X Box or X Box-level configs.

HOLY SHIT that looked balls to the walls awesome.

But I will get the PC version for sure. Lighting and motion blur looks amaaazing.

Just shows how important post processing effects are in games.

Jesus, some people will complain about anything as long as the game is multiplatform. If this doesn't look great for a console game, some of you guys need glasses.

Good point. We'll see how that goes.

As far as the Crysis 2 video goes, it may not be the very bestest looking FPS, but it still looks damn nice, and more importantly, the gameplay isn't your standard COD fare. Player choice in approaching engagements is still a rarity, so from what I've seen I'm in.

Show me some on rails vehicle segments or pure shooting gallery encounters and I may jump back out though ;P

Crytek claimed it would be the greatest looking console game ever I believe.

Sure it's really, really good looking but that other fps that is due in a few days is technically and visually leagues ahead which is why some people have been let down.

I for one never expected anything this good looking (at a cost of performance yes) but hey, some people will never be satisfied.

Anyone who values the graphical experience would be playing Crysis on PC and as far as I can tell (Story Trailer get), KZ3 ain't got shit on that.

I assume you are talking about Killzone 3, I say they are about the same. You have to understand Crysis 2 is much more open ended than Killzone 3. I expect Rage to be the best looking game on consoles (that is also a sandbox FPS).

Indeed!

Artistically on the other hand is a matter of opinion.

The leaked PC footage was mind blowing. Comparing it to the 360 version is the equivalent of comparing the XBOX version of Half-Life 2 to the PC.

Although the 360 version is the best looking FPS I've seen on the system.

I wonder how that framerate in the video compares to performance when Crysis 1 first hit PC? Does it compare favorably with what was available at the time as far as PC specs?

I had a X1600 HD card with a AMD 64 Athlon 3400+ and a gig of ram at the time of release.

The demo averaged out at around 10-12fps

Does that count? :D
