Haha, fire.
I liked the Bats/Harv/Gordon scene myself, but I see where you're coming from.

Yeah last weekend there was a batman marathon on some channel and they played Batman Returns followed by Batman Begins. The difference in quality is astounding. Returns not only aged terribly but it's just a terrible movie that doesn't make much sense.
It didn't age horribly...you just grew up. I thought it was a boring, nonsensical piece of shit twenty years ago. The original movie wasn't much better. Anyone that knows me know I've been saying that for years and was praying for Batman to be given cinematic justice. Thank you, Nolan.

And I'll reiterate that I hate his Batman character. So reckless sometimes to the point where it makes no sense.
He almost blew up two kids during the motorcycle scene in TDK.
Batman tried to murder Joker for the SECOND time in a crowded street with his Batwing (and somehow missed). Probably the single most reckless scene in the history of Batman.
I'm sticking to what I said though...I do think Avengers, Spidey, Hobbit (and of course DKR) could all break the single day record. Spidey is the long shot since it's coming off the still piping fresh disaster known as Spider-Shit 3, but Avengers is going to be the first megaton release of next summer, and Hobbit will undoubtedly have much of December all to itself.
Much of this will depend on the reviews of course...Dark Knight's reviews were sizzling from jump, so that plus the buzz over Ledger always gave it a fair shot. I expect Hobbit will get rave reviews, though it probably won't have the performance buzz that Dark Knight had. AVengers is the wild card...if it was able to get anything close to what Ironman did, it will be BIG. For all intents and purposes, what's being attempted with Avengers has never been done before, being a psuedo-sequel to four seperate films. If it's able to pull things off, Marvel will be shitting green for years. While Ironman 2 was a mistep, Thor did a lot better than I thought it would, so despite the narrow odds I won't write it off.
But yeah, I do think DKR will strongly challenge whatever mark is set by then, and is probably the favourite. And I think being declared the final chapter of the Dark Knight trilogy helps make it an event. And Dark Knight did end on a "cliffhanger that wasn't really a cliffhanger but sorta is".
TDK will still be tops adjusted though, I'm pretty certain of that.

Maybe when he puts on the suit its got a built device that disguises his voice.
As a matter of fact...
THE COWL
Batman replaced the traditional helmet that accompanies the Nomax Suit with his distinctive cowl, which does more than simply add to his daunting appearance.
Batman's cowl is sculpted from an impact-resistant, graphite-composite exterior. There is also bullet-proof Kevlar plating that shields sections of Batman's head and protects it from small-arms fire. Bundled into the "ears" of the cowl are high-gain microphones and a radio antenna. The radio antenna allows Batman to monitor police and emergency-services radio frequencies so that he can always be "first on the scene."
The microphones in the ears are combined with special earpieces in the cowl that give Batman superior hearing in the field. The microphones can also be used to amplify Batman's voice and broadcast it through a discreet speaker in the suit. This is what gives Batman's voice that distinctive, disembodied and unearthly sound.

I think I remember reading that word for word in one of the Batman Begins books that came out at the same time as the movie. So er, yeah...don't hate Bruce, hate the mic.
