The casting doesn't bother me, the villains are not what I was expecting but I'm sure Nolan knows what he's doing. You'd think the nerds would have learned their lesson after Heath Ledger.

Not only that but someone actually said Anne Hathaway is too disney? Have you guys seen Rachel Getting Married? Brokeback Mountain? Love and Other Drugs?

Only Holmes can be considered a bad actress and she actually put in a better performance than Maggie in my opinion. Maggie was weak not because she can't act but because I don't think she fit the part and it was a poorly written character in TDK as compared to BB.

Its more about how the character is written. Hathaway can act, its all up to Nolan now.

In Nolan We Trust.

Catwoman..........................

I'll give Nolan the benefit of the doubt, but this is honestly a character I don't give two shits about.

A no personality Joker with no motivations sure proved everyone wrong.

Any chance Nolan ends the series with Bane
breaking Batman's back
?

I hypothesized this may be a conclusion but WB wouldn't do it, I can't imagine...or maybe they would see it as a good way to break the character and have a new actor enter the role? Who knows? It would be a pretty stark way to end the trilogy...

I don't know why anyone would think this film will be bad.

That's just, I dunno man.

Catwoman > Harley Quinn

Would have been cool to see the Riddler over these guys but I guess there were a few complaining that it would be too similar to the Joker's run in TDK. What are the chances the film ends with Catwoman getting into costume? If this is Bruce's film I don't see how Nolan will be able to fit all of this stuff in here.

Leave it to the inevitable sequel where a new director takes the reins.

Selina Kyle, specifically. The PR never mentions Catwoman. Just sayin'

Not even gonna bother taking down the names of all the people who will inevitably be proved wrong.

Don't think the PR mentioned Two-Face either though.

Good point. I just won't be surprised if she never dresses in a costume with cat ears. Something tight, maybe (hopefully) but more implied than overt. Again, like Scarecrow.

I haven't read a ton of the thread (sorry, I don't have time for it all at work), but:

1) I think Hathaway is a good actress and also fantastically hot, so that news has me pleased.

2) Didn't see the thing about Bane until this thread. It's an initial turnoff after his previous screen appearance (BOMB! BOMB!), but in the Nolan Batman it could work well... I could see a plot that sort of takes elements from the Batman: Venom storyline and then brings it back to crimefighting with Bane (but not quite so ridiculous-looking).

I think it's a risk, but also an opportunity.

I thought the Joker's desire to bring out the monster in everybody was made pretty clear. As for a lack of personality, different strokes I guess. He had plenty of character IMO.

I'd rather Talia than Catwoman but count me in the group that is pleased we're getting Bane!
Maybe it's because it was unexpected, but I glad Hardy is playing Bane instead of Hugo Strange (as rumoured).

Wonder if Strange will still be in the film - maybe Bane and Strange will be working together to uncover Batmans identity, then Bane goes after him with the mob to 'break' him?

How many fucking time's I defended Catwoman in this thread...

I was right, Nolan was able to find optimistically suitable talent in this modern time to fill Catwoman's shoes, Pfeiffer's would be proud.

There will be no crow to eat, because this isn't a "Ledger will be an awful Joker!" situation. People by and large seem to like Hardy and Hathaway's involvement, but aren't big on their characters. Pretty big difference. One is "terrible casting!" and the other is "man, I don't care about these characters".

The news is puzzling, but I think Christopher Nolan has earned a certain amount of "benefit of the doubt". I would be shocked if either of Bane or Catwoman resembled anything near their comic book looks.

Strangely enough, I can see how Nolan could do Bane. He'll be a suave, well-dressed assassin, somewhat similar to Hardy's character in Inception, but with darker tones. Maybe he'll wear a balaclava with a similar design to Bane's mask.

But, I'm having trouble picturing how he'll do Catwoman.

I agree that Bane will pretty much entirely be transformed for this world, into something like this.

as for Catwoman, I'm not even sure he'd go as far as to put in her in a serious suit or even call her Catwoman. That's all up in the air.

What about a vest?

I would imagine Kyle will have some vaguely cat-like night vision goggles with a pretty standard cat-burglar get-up.

They'll probably just work it in as a nickname, like Scarecrow in BB or Two-Face in TDK.

I think if he goes for the super stealthy high tec version of cat woman that would be awesome. I mean even losing the ears and stuff like that would be cool with me. Just make her a "cat" burglar but minus the stupid cat suit.

How can anybody (that is straight) call Hathaway unnattractive?

This is GAF. Personally, I'm a little psyched, because she is in my personal top three. Zooey Deschanel. Hathaway. And the third was Keira Knightley for awhile, but she got bumped for Olivia Wilde.

It's her eyes and mouth that turn me off, but I'm with you on the other 3.

He just exists to be an anti Batman. He has no reason to do so, but does anyway.

No. He was just there. Anyone could've done what Ledger did.

Monotone: Hi. *smack* I am evil. *smack* Be evil too. *smack*

Hathaway is hot and good enough as an actress, Hardy is just plain amazing, and I trust Nolan to do these characters right since all I know about them I read on wikipedia or saw in cartoons.

Bane seems an odd choice for the main villain. He's a strong and cunning criminal who wants to beat Batman and rule Gotham, does he really have the motivations and psychology you associate with a Nolan Batman villain.?

Huh? Joker had no such thing. He was just a machinae diaboli.
